Fab meal for my mum's birthday. We all had a burger - chicken, smokestack, spicy bean burger & classic burger with blue cheese - and couldn't fault any of them. Generous portion of fries accompanied them - sweet potato or chips - which were cooked to perfection & a pot of coleslaw. Just the right size portion of food - after a short break we managed to squeeze in pudding which didn't disappoint. Would def recommend x

Helgi's is the best pub in Orkney, It has the best beer (from the Swannay Brewery), kept in the most consistently excellent condition of all. It also has good food, a real fire, live music sometimes, friendly staff and regulars, and is (as I may already have said) the best pub in Orkney. Neil Stevenson, who founded it, and Kelly, who keeps it in the excellent spirit to which we have all become accustomed, are to be congratulated, along with anyone who has ever worked there - they have (the odd niggle excepted) been perfect. It also has an exellent wine list, much of it from Kirkness and Gorie, in Broad St, Kirkwall.

Myself and my friend visited Helgi's twice in a week while on holiday on Orkney. Both visits were great, the beer and the food were very good and the staff were very friendly. A special thanks goes to Jenna for looking after us very well and for the recommendations she gave me for different local gins to try. I would not hesitate to return.

Nice restaurant and bar near the harbour/waterfront in kirkwall. Good range of food and drinks available, food all freshly prepared and served by pleasant staff. Recommend booking to avoid disappointment.

Quaint inside with great upper room that has wonderful views over the harbor. Tomato pepper soup was incredible! Fish and chips - wow!Cheese board - great presentation. Large portions and great prices. Service initially slow but improved as we sat.

We dined here two nights in a row during our holiday. It was a very comfortable environment with a varied menu and really good, tasty food. The service on the first night was excellent especially as it was quite busy and the girls on staff were constantly on the go. There were different staff on the next night and service was much slower - we had to wait a considerable time to order food after sitting at the table and then again to order dessert at the end of the meal. Would definitely recommend booking as it is a very busy venue and several walk-ins were turned away on both nights we were there.

Stopped by for food on a Wednesday in September but was fully booked. Had a couple of drinks, and its a small bar but great vibe, staff shaking cocktails and busy. I had one of the 5 local beers on draught, Scapa, a nice hop light ale hand pulled for just over a fiver.

Food here was amazing! The staff were friendly & we were sat in a booth by the window upstairs with a great view of the harbour. We had a jug of pink mojito (mojito with cranberry juice) cocktail too which was nice too. We had the cumin cauliflower & halloumi fries to start and then fish and chips for the main. The fish and chips were fantastic!

Dinner in a downstairs booth, fully booked first night here booked for next night. Got harbour views but upstairs better. Food was fresh and delicious. My seafood dish was stunning. Dessert was delicious too. If in Orkney I highly recommend but be sure to book and get an upstairs table.

Tremendous service. We asked for some good whiskey and thoroughly enjoyed our 18 yr old Scapa and 18 yr old Highland Park. A very lovely young lady helped us to make the right choice. Very friendly and would highly recommend.

Excellent food and service. Scottish food with a twist. Haggis mixed with Mac and cheese or fondue for example. Good selection of local spirits. I went for the free spirit gin. Restaurant was a busy which is always a good sign. Plenty of reserved tables so perhaps book in advance. Highly reccomend. Give it a try

Emailed to book a table in advance, would highly recommend doing this as they get fully booked. We arrived a bit early so ended up having a drink at the bar, that wasn't an issue and they added it to our final bill. I tried the salt and chilli squid for a starter and then the haggis burger for main, it was really tasty and filling. Although the view overlooking the harbour is stunning, sadly we were at the back of the room so couldn't see it but it's in a great location. Free parking is also available just outside.

Good pub in a nice location. Food is good quality and lots of locals. You won’t get in without a reservation. Also they had non alcoholic beer - a plus for us.
