I've visited here several times over the years but our latest visit (since the arrival of new management!) was special. My husband and I took our little dog out for a walk on Boxing Day and wanted to follow it up with a few quiet drinks at the pub.

Excellent Sunday lunch. Best Sunday roast I've had in ages - slow cooked but pink beef incredible. Wife's vegetarian meal (Beetroot Wellington) really good too. Generous portions and fantastic food, in a lovely setting - with friendly staff. Good beer selection too. Dog and child friendly as well.
We went to the stone trough inn for Sunday lunch. The views from the restaurant are are beautiful, the staff are friendly and attentive and the food was delicious. They even went out of their way to make us a gluten free veggie option with extra sides, which I really appreciated.
The menu was not a traditional pub menu, there was no specials on board. The sweet menu was little choice. Would recommend the fried fish, it is massive but the chips spoilt it there were frozen. My Dad went to bar for drinks, and there was about 3 people behind bar doing nothing and ignored my d

Went in for an evening meal for the first time. Absolutely amazing food and service. What a lovely place. Will definitely return. Thanks Jenni and Lily 😊
Took my Father-in-law for a meal here last night. The food was excellent- we had two steaks both cooked differently, but to perfection, while my wife had the "not fish and chips" which was a very good portion of deep fried halloumi. Will definitely be coming here again
During lockdown we thoroughly enjoyed the £10 takeaway option. First class service, very generous portions and delicious food. Highly recommended. (Presentation is mine at home !! Not all of the stew was served here - such a large portion .)
Went for the Christmas menu over the weekend and the food was amazing, can’t fault it and such good value for money! Cosy atmosphere and staff were very attentive and welcoming. Would definitely recommend!

Incredible meal. Highly recommend. Look no further for delicious food, attentive and friendly staff and a perfect setting and atmosphere. You will not be disappointed. Also, get the duck main. It was amazing.
The food was delicious and the portions were massive. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area! The stars were lovely and very accommodating
A cold experience. Would expect in a country pub on a cold wet April day a log fire lit, especially with logs stacked at the side of the fire. Some guests were heard saying it was cold, putting their coat's back on before food arrived.
Fantastic Pub, a special place for me and my partner. Food is fantastic and a great selection of ales.

Lovely pub, good food, wonderful views of the valley, plenty of seating outside. Would enjoy larger portions, can't say the terrine was my fav, but loved the burger and goat cheese starter.
Beautiful location whether you want to walk or drive drive to the pub. Kirkham Abbey is a lovely riverside setting and the pub is nearby. Beef pot pie was a joy. Service and prices were excellent. Had gorgeous Sunday lunch here today sat in front of a cosy log fire. The service was great and everybody was friendly and attentive. Highly recommend.
We went when the bar was quiet and didn't order food but the beer was very well kept and service efficient and very friendly.
