Fabulous traditional fish and chip shop right by the quayside on the River Dee at Kirkcudbright. Some of the nicest chips we've had for ages, and fresh full scampi. Indoor seating option, but much nicer to sit in the fresh air outdoors if the weather allows. For some reason, there's a TARDIS sitting
A really good place to come and get tasty fish and chips or just about anything else! The toilets are clean the service is fast and the portions are generous with a great harbour side location. It can get busy though.
Easily one of my favorite evenings spent in Scotland! Ate some delicious fish and chips while folks were celebrating with bagpipes and dance! It was a lot of food for one, but made sure to eat it all because I didn't want it to go to waste. Massive line, but it went pretty quick. Would stop by again
Fantastic chippy! They have a very nice selection and everything was delicious. The surrounding area is also very scenic. 5/5!
What a Fantastic place. Whilst staying in the village, we had to indulge in a takeaway and had the wonderful highly recommended fish and chips. So pleased we did. Portion size fabulous (large) two of us shared, with tub of mushy peas. Never ever have we had Fish so white, lightly battered, and chip
Consistently excellent fish and chips, our holidaya wouldn't be complete without a visit to Polar Bites.
Probably the best fish and chips I've ever tasted. The take-aways are cooked to order or eat in. Been there many times over the past 7 years. The premises, near the harbour, are always spotlessly clean and the staff always smart and friendly.
One of the best chippies I've ever been to. Good range of fresh fish, nice crispy chips, cheerful service. Eat in if it's raining, or take out to sit and look at the boats in the harbour or gaze at the views. Wonderful.
Not the cheapest fish and chips and not the best we've had but overall very good. Fish was lovely with a thin and crispy batter. Would go again.
What a treat! A fantastic fish and chip shop, bring your own bottle, gorgeous scallops in a creamy curry sauce. If I lived closer I'd be visiting all the time! The *only* negative was the multi-flavour ice cream machine just didn't dispense enough syrup in the ice cream mix so we couldn't taste anyt
Just had the most amazing meal here it was the best fish and chips I've ever had. On behalf of the bad reviews I think that they are all false the meal was simply devine and the service was really quick. The price is not as expensive as the prices in a pud and the quality was 10 times better. Would
Great choice of fish. Well cooked with chips and mushy peas. Coffee undrinkable much too strong. Asked for milky. Dogs not allowed inside although outdoor seating is provided in the shape of bench tables. Overlooks part of the harbour
Hands down, the best bit of fish I've ever had from a chippy. After much deliberation (so much to choose from!) I opted for the smoked haddock. Thoroughly recommend it, absolutely gorgeous!
Whilst on holiday we ordered the Queen Scallops in white wine, garlic and cream. The drive back to the cottage was around 15min and upon tasting the meal found the scallops to be lovely and hot and cooked to perfection. Much better than a lot of restaurants we have been to.
Great fish and chip shop by the harbour. If you eat in there is an extensive menu which includes monkfish in rosemary butter, scallops in white wine or curry sauce etc.
Great, family friendly service and you can take your own wine or beer. Not expensive.
Deeeeeelicious! We had a variety of food: cheeseburger, sausage & gravy, battered haddock and salmon...all with chips. Super tasty and beautifully presented. You can even bring a bottle and they'll give you a chilling sleeve for your wine and glasses. Lovely!
