Lovely, friendly staff. They were a wee bit too busy when we had dinner, and were slightly run off their feet. A tourist couple had to ask four times to book lunch for the following day. Not the biggest thing but would probably annoy some folks.
Food was absolutely delicious. The sirloin steak was cooked to perfection, with loads of chunky chips and onion rings. The skinned tomato was a nice touch. My fellow diners both got the fish pie and recommended it. It was very cheesy on top, if that's your thing too.
Dessert menu was a standard affair (and that isn't a bad thing!), but had the very Cumbrian 'thunder and lightning' ice cream, which is a Lake District specialty. This is what we had and it was delicious.

Excellent breakfast each morning and lovely evening meals in the bar. Very friendly and welcoming staff and the pub is in a great location for local walks or further afield, or as a stopover to break up a journey north/south on the M6!
We had a comfortable room with ensuite. Rather small for 2 adults and 2 dogs but fine for a short stay.

Visited here for Easter meal, they managed to fit a big party in and were very professional through out. The food was lovely, big portions and very good value for money. Would recommend anyone in the local area
Called and made a last-minute reservation on a busy Sunday afternoon. They were very accommodating, had the 3 course Sunday dinner. Bloody lovely and very reasonably priced .
Had a Mother's Day meal here with my hubby and was absolutely fantastic...the service was quick and very efficient..food was amazing... have been here twice and will definitely return💯💯

Stayed for a wedding held locally, what a fabulous place, from the views, friendly staff, great service and absolutely exceptional food, would not hesitate to stay here again

Staff could not do enough for you
Lovely pub in a peaceful location. Looks very popular for food although check winter opening and serving times, it is usually closed for a couple of hours on weekday afternoons. Very helpful staff, interesting building. Old style furnishings which have seen better days although that just adds to the charm. Lovely big fireplace which is roaring on cold days. Definitely recommended.

Booked for Sunday lunch after walking all day and can't say how great that decision was. Service and the Sunday lunches were superb. Will definitely be returning to try the rest of the menu.
This time we had pate starters a lamb and a turkey dinner with crumble desert.
