What a gem of a pub. A lovely warm welcoming pub that oozes charm. The staff are a delight, great choice of ales, lagers, ciders and bottled beers including German import beer.
Food is top notch. I had the pork mixed grill and it was as gorgeous as it looked. My friends had chicken pie (a proper full pastry pie baked in a meat cooks dish.), fish and chips (huge fish portion perfectly battered), vegetarian Thai curry (nicely spiced with generous portions), mushroom burgers (huge, these tasted and looked stunning) and a good old quality steak (again dominant portion with fantastic home cooked crispy chips).
A couple of us had deserts and those that didn't soon wished they has as the ordered Eton mess and lemon sorbets again tasted and looked amazing.
I live 3 hours drive away and it says something about an establishment when you honestly state I would drive back again for dinner.
Had another fantastic meal at The Bay Horse last night. The food was excellent, but, then we've never had a bad meal there. There is a good selection of dishes to choose from ranging from the traditional pub grub to the more exotic, so there is something for everyone. Would thoroughly recommend it to anyone....and I constantly do! All of the staff are great and make you feel very welcome and are all very attentive. We'll be back very soon!
Had a great evening here on the coast to coast. The red snapper was wonderful, service excellent with friendly staff. Definitely recommend.
It's Fine dining at a very reasonable price. The food was amazing.Service was brilliant. So so glad we found The Bay Horse Inn. Desert was to die for Ginger mousse cake and Rhubarb puree with white chocolate ice cream Nom nom Staff were brill too 10/10 my score.
Amazing food and wonderful friendly staff. Would definitely recommend the fish!
Lovely country pub, good service and good food choices on the menu and specials. Food was lovely and very generous portions. Service was quick and friendly and all at reasonable prices. Will definatley be back thanks!
Pleasantly surprised by the quality and service of this lovely country pub. I had the carribean bass and my partner had the meat platter ( Sunday dinner with a difference),The portions were big ! Very tasty . The young girls that served us were very attentive. Would certainly go back when we are next walking in this beautiful area .
Excellent food, surpassed what was expected especially price wise. Friendly staff and lovely pub, hidden gem. Would definetely visit again if in the area.
Just got back after a 3rd visit within a week, this is a fantastic village pub where the owners and staff are really friendly and helpful. The food too is of exceptional quality and well presented. I was informed that the pies are made to order, so do take a bit longer to arrive, but be rest assured it's worth the wait. On Fridays ( tonight's visit) it's a fish and chip special! (Along with a normal menu). Again it lived up to expectations and delivered on newspaper, a fantastic touch for those who remember getting fish and chips wrapped in newspaper. I don't give out rave reviews often, but in this case the Bay Horse Inn in Winton throughly deserves my praise. Long may they keep up the friendly treatment of customers and keep up serving fantastic meals. Filter coffee, free refills too..... I will be returning before too long.

Called on for lunch. Good food. Contemporary village pub. Made welcome. Toilets quite victorian.Would recommend
Only stopped for a snack whilst out walking but friendly staff and a nice sandwich and chips followed by a huge, delicious Eton Mess. People who were leaving commented on the very large portions of lovely food.
Thank you to Dave, John, lily & Natasha for the very yummy food & excellent service you provided us with last night for our fundraising night in aid of kirkby stephen primary school.
Every time I come here I renew the reason why we purchased our family home locally. The food is excellent and the portions are just right. The wine selection is good and the ales are spot on. Most importantly the staff are very friendly and helpful and you are made to feel wellcome throughout your stay. Genuine local village community feeling, awesome.
18 of us ate here last week without pre-ordering. The food all arrived at the same time and it was amazing! Staff were brilliant! Thoroughly recommend a visit!
A delicious Sunday lunch today!
Choice of beef, lamb or honey glazed ham - all beautifully cooked.
A good selection of veg and the roast potatoes were particularly good !!
A lovely choice of yummy deserts to follow
Would definitely recommend !!
Yummiest food I've eaten in a long time, would definitely recommend
Fantastic Sunday lunch meat was melt in the mouth and the lemon posset is to die for yummy. Wish we lived closer as would be back weekly!!
Had a wonderful afternoon at the bay horse celebrating Alfie's christening! Food was lovely, staff were fab, would definitely recommend! Thank you very much!
Everybody's meal was delicious especially the lamb chops which were tender and very tasty overall an enjoyable evening for our party of 11.
Fantastic cosy village pub. Made very welcome. Great homemade quality food definitely 5* will be going back whilst on our holidays.
Stopped here for lunch yesterday. Food was fantastic, would make the effort to go back!
Excellent food, really friendly staff will definitely be going back, would highly recommend paying The Bay Horse Inn a visit.
Excellent food at great prices. Staff were lovely too.
Amazing service and amazing food! We will be back.
The food is almost definitely the best around if you like fresh, home made food. Who doesn't?
Very pleased to have The Bay Horse as my local. Yes I could be biased but I wouldn't write the review if I didn't mean it.
It's a shame that feedback from previous management can't be removed. Can't it?
What a Great Meal & the Staff were very Polite & Friendly. ...Highly Recommend this Pub..xx
Best wedding venue of all time! The sunday roast is a great cure for a hangover too thanks guys xx
Absolutely beautiful meal!!! The Eton Mess is to die for!!
We had a family visit today for the carvery.
The food was SPECTACULAR!
The service and atmosphere was simply wonderful!
We cannot wait to return!
Thank you so much for your hospitality!
Lovely pub with fantastic food. Staff were highly accommodating, and super friendly.
Recommend the prawn starter, and honey duck salad. We will be back when we visit again!
Had lunch with friends here last weekend but have been many times with family and friends. Always receive a warm welcome and food is delicious and good value for money. We will be back soon.
Popped in for lunch after a recommendation, whilst on holiday in the area,we were not disappointed, a lovely welcome. Excellent food. We will definitely be back.
Lovely food, very helpful staff, and lots of room for dining. We'd booked this time, having been turned away twice before for not having booked - but this time the dining area was almost empty.
The whole pub seems dedicated to eating - was a little disappointing not to see a more 'village pub' area in the bar. Felt it was a place aimed mostly at diners, with little atmosphere to welcome the local villagers.
Saying this, we were there on a Friday night for dinner, so it did what we wanted at that time.
Lovely meal with really friendly service. Live music (guitarist) was a bonus too. Great evening.
We visited just before Christmas to celebrate a 60th birthday, and had a lovely time. Friendly service with a bit of a giggle, fabulous food and a relaxed setting was exactly what we were after.
Lovely meal. I actually paid for the wrong table and realised when I got home. I rang and was immediately reimbursed. Only negative comment would be that it was very noisy in the dining room. There were two large groups in and the noise did echo which made it difficult for us to chat. Otherwise a nice night with helpfully staff.
We are staying in Winton so to have such a fabulous pub on your doorstep is amazing.
Eaten here twice so far and our meals have been beyond expectations.
We had the pork and chorizo on our first visit. Sorry we ate it before taking a photo. Was possibly the best meal ever!
Today we had lunch in the beer garden. It was delicious.
Sunday carvery was good reasonably priced. Friendly service, though slightly forgetful !! Good location.
Great location as a base to head off and explore. We picked the Ben Lomond Lodge with hot tub and Sauna. Sleeps 6 or 8 if you use the convertible sofa. Two lounges worked well, one for the Xbox and the other for movies. Open plan living. High speed internet is free. We also had our two dogs with us.
Sunday lunch was excellent, great food, excellent service friendly staff. Dog friendly. Very helpful when it came to food allergys Enjoyed our visit would return as well as recommend
The food was well cooked, tasty and very nicely presented, though could have been hotter. The portions of starters and mains were not enough for the bigger appetites, so didn't score highly on value for money. The staff were attentive and polite and we enjoyed the evening.
We had a lovely dinner here. The food was very tasty with very generous portions.
Found by chance on google maps, the best meal and service we’ve had on our whole trip away - an absolute gem of a place. Full of character and home cooked food that left us rolling out!
Another great meal at this lovely pub.
Amazing food. The steak and ale pie was the best I’ve eaten in years. The pork belly was beautiful too and we were fascinated by the presentation and components.
The children’s fish and chips was beautifully cooked too but not enough fish for our 5 year old (fine if 4 or under) Despite that it was wonderful and the staff were friendly. You definitely need to book in advance to eat here as it’s so popular.
