Absolutely delicious meal for my birthday last night, thanks to all at the Half Moon. All four of us had three courses and everything was amazing. Great menu with lots of interesting dishes to choose from... I had a duck liver parfait followed by smoked pork fillet with pickled turnip and black pudding crumb, and some poached peaches with Amaretti for dessert. All delicious. Lovely relaxed atmosphere (the pub looks fab too!) and seriously brilliant staff. Can't wait to come again x
Beautiful drive through the Sussex countryside on the way down to Chichester. Stopped off at this charming village pub and enjoyed a delicious lunch and a creamy pint of Guinness - or two. The pub had a great atmosphere along with friendly staff. I think we’ve found a new favourite!
What a little gem of a pub , we travelled up from the coast at pagham to visit for lunch and it was well worth the journey. The staff were really welcoming and very attentive especially our lovely waitress Charlotte thanks sweetie x loved the stylish comfy decor it feels like your somewhere special and you still know your in a country pub , the lamb shepherds pie is sublime and that pistachio ice cream is to die for , can't wait for our next visit see you soon x
Excellent service and wonderful food. The staff made us feel really welcome. Had been recommended to try this recently refurbished bar/restaurant and it wasn't a disappointment. We decided to stay for a few drinks at the bar after our meal and were served by the bar manager Aiden who was just the best. A must go for lunch/ evening meal or just a few drinks. Wish we had a Half Moon in our village. 👍🏻
I must admit I was sceptical as the poor Half Moon has had a curse on it of late. But I really hope Jodie and her fantastic team succeed. They certainly deserve to. Great food, great service, and lovely ambiance. Also lovely to see it's still a pub, too. I will be back and recommend to all.
Beautiful food and excellent service without being stuffy and pretentious. Came up from Bournemouth and worth the 2 hour drive
Fantastic experience from start to finish. Very easy to book online. I received an email the day before to re confirm or cancel the booking. We came for lunch to celebrate my husband’s birthday.
Beautiful place in a beautiful setting. Very welcoming and cosy. We were warmly greeted by Louise and asked if we would like to have a drink in the bar first and she would bring menus through. We ordered drinks then sat at a table. Louise brought menus through and wished my husband happy birthday. It was lovely that it had been noted and acknowledged.
We were given ample time to browse the menu before our order was taken.
We didn’t feel at all rushed and felt that we were very important.
We were brought bread and butter to pick at while we waited, these were delicious, we especially loved the smoked butter with crispy onions. Our starters were amazing my husband had the bubble & squeak and ham hock soup. I had the goats cheese mousse and beetroot carpaccio. Perfect sized portions.
Mains were equally amazing. My husband had the guinea fowl with belly pork and I had ribeye. Both cooked perfectly.
We were too full for dessert. Once we had asked for the bill my husband was brought a plate which had happy birthday written in chocolate sauce, a macaroon on it and what I could only describe as meringue kisses. Sounds simple but looked and tasted amazing. We knew we were going to have a good meal and expected to pay more than the usual pub prices but felt that prices were what we would expect for this high standard of quality of food and service. We feel we received excellent value for money and my husband enjoyed a lovely birthday lunch.
The only downside is that we live slightly too far to visit more frequently.
Beautiful place, Amazing food, friendly efficient staff. I would highly recommend it. 5 stars given on trip advisor.
Had a great Sunday lunch here - flavours were outstanding and service was really attentive. Looks like they've created something special here. Fantastic selection of gins, interesting food combinations and everything tasted delicious. Who knew that basil and strawberries would taste so great together?! Still a lovely old welcoming pub but with a cut above your average pub grub. Will be back!
Great food and lovely atmosphere, particularly liked the fresh lavender on the napkins and the wild flowers on the tables - nice touches - food was delicious and service great. Definitely recommend.
We celebrated our parents ruby wedding anniversary at the quaint little country pub!! The food was amazing, Charlotte the waitress was fantastic, attentive and amazing with the 3 children we had with us.
A party of 9 for lunch and family joining after for drinks.
Nothing was too much trouble and everybody was so friendly. We will be going back very soon! It was simply fantastic!! Thank you so much xxx
Had a fabulous meal last Friday - food was spectacular and service was brilliant. Pub looked lovely too would heartily recommend and will definitely go again - very soon xx
What a gem! My husband and I just got home from celebrating our anniversary at The Half Moon. We had wonderful evening! The staff were lovely and attentive. The food was fabulous and very reasonably priced for the standard. Very worth while and we will definitely be recommending it to our friends.
Took my wife and sons there for Sunday lunch (just gone) and I could not have been more impressed (apart from they forgot my wife's Bday surprise which they had promised:(). The setting is great and the grounds are immaculate. The food and wine were both excellent (and not stupidly expensive), as was the service. We will definitely be back!
We went for lunch today to celebrate my husband ‘s birthday, gorgeous food, beautifully presented and couldn’t really fault it. Staff were really friendly and attentive. Great place for a special treat!
Wonderful food, wonderful location, attentive and friendly staff, couldn't have asked for a better afternoon
Wow
We went for the tasting menu and music night and simply stunning.
The food was superb. The music was fantastic and the volume was at the right level so it was audible but not loud so you couldn't hear yourselves speak. The service was really top drawer. We had Louise hosting our table and she was attentive to detail, took the time to explain the dishes to us and focused on when glasses needing filling, bringing water to the table and was generally very helpful.
Highly recommend it.
We came for a Sunday lunch here, and there is a lot to compliment. The staff were very kind and helpful, never standing around. There was also live music to enjoy, a very talented guitarist. (No rock 😅) On top of this, the food was fabulous, and we couldn’t get enough of it. Even the beverages were delicious. I definitely recommend this place.
Our favourite pub ever! We had our wedding reception at the Half Moon last summer for 120 people....Gavin, Louise and the team worked tirelessly to make the day perfect, and the food was so special. They were really flexible and delivered on everything we wanted for the day. We couldn't recommend more highly.
We just went back for our 1 year anniversary and the food and service was just as amazing as we remembered it.
It’s a lovely pub in a pretty location, the garden is nice and the service was pretty good. Adult food is pricey but delicious. They’re a bit big for their boots in charging deposits and trying to demand Pre-ordering etc. when it is a pub and you’re going with a party of 6 adults. My main criticism is that they don’t cater for kids- no kids menus, not even ice cream balls at the end so you have to get them overly fancy things they don’t really want and then pay through the nose for them. They don’t even have a baby change and when I was looking for it I was told “we don’t have baby change because we are grade II listed building” 🤣 which, although I found amusing, did cement the un family-friendly vibe we got throughout the booking and actually eating process!
Having just recently moved to the village, we decided to give this place a try and have to say, it lives up to expectations! Service was initially very slow but food was to die for and we’re happy that ‘our local’ is a stone’s throw away! Delicious 😍
I took my wife here to try the tasting menu. I have to say that the quality, variety, and presentation of the food was superb. The pub had a nice atmosphere and was very comfortable to dine in. Will be coming back!
Great food in a pub with a lovely atmosphere. Had the best octopus and cracklin I've ever had! Service was very friendly and I had some brilliant wine too. I did however find the seats a bit uncomfortable and it was quite pricey overall. However prices for wine I thought wasn't too bad. Definitely a great place for special occasions.
Not so much a review, but just a little heads up that it is £8 for a small glass of house wine, for those unfamiliar with the area and price bracket. However, it is the only pub in Kirdford which makes it exclusive in a sense.
The food here is excellent but oddly I can’t post a review about it!? We’ll be going back for sure. Sue
Good food great service convivial atmosphere what more to say highly recommend always had a pleasant time
Impromptu lunch in a welcoming open fire lite cosy country pub. A warm welcome from the Staff and a delicious tempting new seasonal menu. The food was exceptional, certainly a very talented chef in the kitchen. We had the stuffed plaice and roast turkey where every detail and component on the plate was executed to perfection. What a delightful wet autumnal Thursday.
Wonderful service, food and drinks. Ludovic is an excellent host. A must visit if you're in the area. We'll be back soon. X
What a wonderful experience! Lovely location, excellent service and the food was outstanding. Would highly recommend if you are in the area.
Good food and friendly staff. We were seated in a quiet area. There were no other diners until shortly before we left, which was a shame. The bar area however was buzzing. Enjoyed the meal.
I've tried the tasting menu, the a la carte, and the curry tasting menu. All are outstanding. The flavour combinations are spot on, and so is the service
This is our new favourite restaurant 😀
This is a lovely pub that has surprisingly good food. Had a crab starter that was nicely balanced. And a roasted celeriac dish that was really nice. The service was great too. Got quite busy as we were leaving so, if you want a quieter meal, go early.
