The Dundas Arms in Kintbury had a bit of an overhaul a few years ago; a bit of redecoration, a spruce up in the garden and more. It has recently come under new management and I was invited to try out their dinner menu. I had been for lunch a few days before and I liked what they served (classic Ploughman’s and sandwiches) but I wasn’t prepared for the dinner menu (and food) to be quite as good as it was.

Lovely hotel with not just good food but great service. The breakfast was just as delicious every morning (we tried both the Full English Breakfast and Eggs Benedict) and the best Fish & Chips we’ve ever had! And we have tried quite a few traveling through Scotland! The Sunday roast was a first for me, but definitely not the last. The rooms are very spacious and the beds are very comfortable. Very cozy with the little canal just behind the hotel, both when sitting in the outdoor area and outside of the patio of the hotel room. We will definitely be back again!

Our favourite pub has been transformed in a most beautiful way under the new management! I’ve never had more tastier and exquisite food! The river view rooms are beautiful, warm, luxurious and there are little comforting pieces left for the customers which make your day and night even more enjoyable. The staff are friendly and very helpful and the chef is fabulous! The manager is professional, kind and very passionate about her pub. Thank you! Treat yourself and visit The Dundas Arms one the most beautiful pubs in West Berkshire!

We came down for just one night for a birthday treat. The team were lovely and polite. Although busy it was busy for Sunday lunch it was lovely and the beef was cooked brilliantly. The room and breakfast was perfect and the countryside ambiance was a nice break from London. Special thanks to lovely lady in charge who made our stay extra special.

We stayed here for two nights over the weekend. Our twin room was in the main building and overlooked the canal. The room was spacious with lots of storage and usual hotel amenities. Excellent non standard tea and coffee!! The shower room was also spacious. Everywhere was spotlessly clean. The beds were very comfortable. Breakfast is menu based and not self service or buffet based. This suited us and the food was very tasty. There was plenty of it and extra drinks and toast were readily available. We also had dinner on the first night of our stay. This was good value for money and delicious. Overall this is a lovely place to stay and to dine. The decor is very welcoming and the gardens are lovely. Every member of staff we met was very helpful and cheerful. We would definitely stay here again. It’s a lovely place,

Closer to a 4 than a 3 but slow service lets the Dundas Arms down. Location is great, staff are friendly and helpful, food is excellent but the speed at which things happen in the dining rooms is slow. Worth another try though.

We wanted a nicely located country pub, for a university reunion. The Dundas Arms is well situated, close to major routes, right by the working canal, and a train station. The food and service was excellent, and value was very good. Highly recommended!

A brilliant stop over between home in Kent and visit to family in Bristol. Everything very comfortable and excellent meal. Breakfast kept us going for the whole day. Thank you.

Fantastic. My wife and I turned up on a Sunday without a booking. We were advised they were fully booked. Seeing the look of disappointment they found a table by the bar and grabbed a couple of chairs. They didn’t have to do that to be fair. We both ordered a Sunday lunch and the food arrived within 5 minutes. Normally when the food arrives this quick it’s bad. This was not. Far from it! Brilliant service, great staff, wonderful food. Have a look if you’re in the area.

Enjoyed a lovely 3 nights at the Dundas Arms. The room was clean and spacious and the staff were polite and attentive. Breakfast was lovely (particularly the eggs). We had one evening meal which was tasty (pie of the day). Large beer garden with heated outside Pods right by the side of the canal. The prices were very reasonable. The added bonus was the proximity of the train station. The trains stop at Kintbury every hour which makes getting either Hungerford or Newbury really easy. It's under 4 minutes to either and around £4 each return. A great way to explore the area.

We had an amazing long weekend in this place! The location is great, very close to the railway station (but quite) and surrounded by the canals and green area with public footpaths. The view in the room was amazing, we liked our terrace. The staff and service was friendly. Food and breakfasts tasty. There is also an amazing garden where you can enjoy the drinks. Highly recommended!

This is a truly wonderful pub, we had a wonderful lunch as a family of 5. The food was delicious and our waitress was lovely, chatty and attentive. We sat in the outdoor covered dining pods which my son who is in a wheelchair thought was wonderful as he got to watch all the trains and boats go by whilst we enjoyed our lunch. We will be visiting again soon.

A group of us had lunch, and had extremely good service in a lovely room. The waitress was particularly helpful and efficient. The people who had the fish and chips said that they were very nice indeed. We didn't stay at the hotel, so cannot comment on it.

Our third visit for lunch. Excellent venue with a varied menu of very good dishes. However, with a disabled wife in a wheelchair, the access was very poor. The staff had to provide ver rudimentary ramps in order to enter the restaurant. Also the entrance into the toilet was not wide enough for the wheelchair. In this day and age that really is unacceptable.

We had a very pleasant experience. The food service comes quickly however the drinks service is pretty slow when they’re busy. Generally a great time had

Ideal location close to river and canal. Signature room location also meant noise from railway minimised. Restaurant meal was excellent, as were breakfast choices. Some of the bedroom decor in very shabby condition, particularly paintwork in bathroom. Canal side main entrance door also in very poor state, giving a false impression of what's inside. Price of two non-alcoholic drinks at £9.40 was extortionate.

Location is fantastic, very quiet alongside the canal. Food was outstanding. Room was very good although a lightbulb I had thought kaput suddenly coming on was a bit of a surprise! Highly recommend
