This place is wicked. great food and cocktails. staff are really friendly, will definitely be going back. I would highly recommend a visit to poor boys.
Brilliant place. The atmosphere is great. Nothing else like this for miles. The staff are very friendly and work hard. Even though the restaurant was busy we were served straight away and didn’t have to wait long for our drinks and food. Great service. The food is delicious. I had the vegetarian po boy and it was packed with flavour. My husband had the shrimp Po boy and it was full of huge prawns. Will definately be returning.
Great food. Attentive friendly staff. Great little place. Can especially recommend the Mac and Lobster.
Can't recommend this place enough, amazing food at reasonable prices. Great authentic Ales as well. Go Hungry as the portions are very generous!
What a beautiful little spot in a beautiful location.
You always know you’re in for a treat when you get there 10mins before opening and there’s a line 20+ people deep waiting to get in.
Great portion sizes with a great selection of food, which is all done to perfection.
First time in a while I haven’t finished a whole meal (that’s saying something)
Well worth a visit.
Took my little brother here for his 18th. Had a lovely meal and a couple drinks.
The food was lovely. Mac and cheese balls I would highly recommended.
The brisket could have been a little more tender, though. The ice slush cocktails were lovely too.
Queue seemed long but moved quit quickly. Waited about 20 minutes for the table but worth the wait. The portions are massive for the price.
We ordered the Mac and cheese balls, brisket donuts, the jalapeño poppers and the crab dirty boys. All were delicious, I think the Jalapeño poppers were the best I’ve ever had. I wish I could have gone with a larger group to have tried more on the menu. I also had a frozen daiquiri which was also delicious and didn’t taste too strong
Really good place for food. They specialize themselves in american food, particularly meat such as chicken, beef, shrimps, etc. It is not the best place for a vegan or vegetarian but I went there with one of my friends that happened to be vegetarian and the staff did their best to accommodate the best option for her.
The staff is absolutely the best in Poor Boys. It reminds me a bit of how they treat you in Hard Rock Café and the music is quite good. There are tables inside and outside but I personally would go for outside tables purely because you have a nice view of the river.
It is also well located as you can always have a walk around the river or even go to other bars such as Incognito for some drinks and come back.
The Meat Sharer is amazing and it is extremely good value for what they give you as 3 people can eat it. It can be a bit rough on the stomach as it is heavy food so I'd recommend controlling yourself when coming here haha
This place was absolutely worth the wait. We went as a group of nine so had too wait a little. More but eventually we just sat in two tables. It was hard toooo choose what to eat because everythinkg sounded so yumm and look sooo goood. I eventually chose a dirty boy soft shell with ranch. And we had a portion of mac cheese balls. The food came promptly and really hit the spot. It was tooo much for me to eat all in one go but was a decent size. This place is well worth the wait and will definitely go again.
Great restaurant set by the canals in Kingston, very popular so expect to queue but food is very good and the place has a good atmosphere. Very friendly and helpful staff, happy to offer recommendations like the Mac and cheese balls which were excellent. Calamari was really good too and the fried pickles were extremely moreish! Frozen cocktails were good although not sure about the main cocktails which consisted of a small bottle of spirit stuck into a can of pop… Overall very good experience and would recommend.
The places opens at 12pm and from the minute it opens it is fairly busy. It might have been because of the weather but there was a queue already forming before it opened.
The place is beside the River Thames which makes it better on a sunny day. You are instantly greeted and welcomed by the waitor and the waitor on the day was very welcoming.
The restaurant is a little small as seating is very tight so you would need to go there early to get a spot, they do have seating upstairs but I wasn't sure if it was open to the public yet.
I made my on Po Boy sandwich. There is a variety of meat and seafood to choose fork to put in your sandwich, I went for the Southern Friend Chicken with Cajun Mayo and along with that some Cajun fries.
The sandwich was amazing in my opinion especially the brioche bun they put it in very fluffy and buttery and the Cajun Mayo went really well with the Southern Fried chicken. All in all I would give the Sandwich a 8.5/10. What I didn't really enjoy was the fries as it was soggy but it was still tasty I just wish the fries where crispy it would have made the meal even better. I tried the chicken popcorn and you can choose the sauce to go with it, again I went for the Cajun Mayo and it didn't disappoint and I also got the cracklins which was deep fried chicken skin I believe. The Cracklins was very nice and I would recommend it if you like fried chicken skin.
All in all the restaurant was a good place to have lunch. I left full which is always a plus.
Eaten here twice now. Mid week, we walked in and got seated right away. Saturday evening, we queued for around an hour for a table. Food is delicious, enjoyed everything weve had on both occasions. Recommend the mac and cheese. Portions are huge! Very easy to over order but a bonus is you can box it all up and take it home.
I enjoyed my most recent trip to Poor Boys. I ordered beef brisket with dirty fries which I did enjoy but I have had better beef brisket. The dirty fries were great and really compliment the beef brisket. Me and my partner shared a portion of Mac and Cheese which is American style and the coconut shrimp which was very tasty. I would return again but probably order something else instead of the beef brisket.
You have to wait in a line so I recommend going for lunch rather than dinner as there is no booking system. Kitchen closes at 6pm on a Sunday so they stop letting people in from the line around 5pm. Service is pretty fast but from time to time things may come quite slow but you can always see how busy it really is.
I will be returning to sample more on the menu
So good! Now I understand the massive queues in the evenings. The buttermilk chicken is beautifully tender with a crunchy coating with tasty seasoning. Not oily at all. Calamari was delicious. The BBQ brisket was mouthwateringly delicious. I'm not normally a fan of mac n cheese, but this was pretty good - al dente macaroni and a non-stodgy well-flavoured cheese sauce. Fries were good. We tried 4 of the sauces - Cajun mayo, honey mustard, Louisiana hot, and Texan BBQ - they were all tasty. Loved the root beer float - made me feel like a kid again.
Service was friendly and helpful.
We came on a Wednesday afternoon after the lunch rush. It was still busy inside, but there was plenty of outdoor seating.
Food was good! We got the beef brisket donuts (exceptional), prawn po boys (ok) and wings (ok). Po boy bun was too small for the contents inside and just fell apart and was definitely not worth the money. Food came to £70 for 2 po boys and 2 sides which is crazy but overall it was a good experience!
Loved it here. Will be back. Highly recommend. The mac and cheese with beef brisket burnt ends is a winner, as is the fried buttermilk chicken. Made me feel very happy having a delicious meal 😋
This place is amazing. Second time in 2 months ( This is an hour and forty minutes away from me so not close) and the food was amazing both times.
If there is 4 of you, I would recommend getting the sharing platter you wont be about to finish it.
It is epic.
The shrimps and brisket is insanely good.
We loved the food, decor and atmosphere with this place. The brothers have delivered on their promise to serve up classic New Orleans and Regional American, offering a great menu of food and drink. We had the shrimp, chicken wings and the 12hour slow cooked beef brisket which tasted as good as how it was presented. We'll definitely be going back and remember to get their early to avoid the queues!
Really enjoyed this place, the food was great. Only drawback were the frozen cocktails, would have liked a bit more choice. This place gets really busy and is really popular. Staff have great banter.
Cute restaurant in Kingston upon Thames. Love the names of the restaurant and the dishes. They had a queue (what a bonus) but the queue went quick, which means they may change their name from Poor Boys to Rich Boys soon!! 🤑🤑🤑
I loved their marketing, but at the same time the restaurant’s interior had a very local and fun feel to it, they have two floors. The Po’ food was local and very authentic, so it was great overall.
We ordered a Yardbird Dirty Boy and Shrimp Mac Boy. Both were delicious!! Served hot. The shrimp was perfectly fried and the chicken with the BBQ sauce was absolutely delicious.
The servers also have a bit of humour, they are entertaining 😉😉
Will come here again!!
