I booked a family get together at short notice. It was a gathering of my visiting Australian family to share family history, memories, a few scoops and a meal. I contacted Jill a week before the event and she was brilliant. She provided us with Chinese Chicken Curry, chips, rice and prawn crackers at a very reasonable rate and I am grateful . The food tasted brilliant, everyone enjoyed the atmosphere of the pub, the family get together and the meal. It is a great pub for a get together and I would without doubt book a meal here in the near future. Thank you to Jill and her staff for making use feel welcome we all enjoyed the night

Can't recommend this place is enough, staff are so friendly and can't do enough for you, the rooms themselves are immaculate and brilliantly furnished, thanks for a top weekend (Andy Serrell from the Cleveland Comets)

We had a small get together at the pub. The food was very tasty and served in a no nonsense efficient manner. The staff were ultra friendly and offered more food if we wanted it. Toilets also immaculate. Plenty of parking adjacent. A great night was had by all.

Fab wee pub, spotless, friendly staff and brilliant homemade food. A little bit too handy being between the ice rink and our hotel, causing us to lose a few players over the weekend.

A near deserted shopping Parade That could be any town, anywhere; Not so very long ago our thriving Cattle market stood just there, Full of buyers and sellers and Drovers, auctioneer and his clerk All those many and varied folk That make such places work. And, standing by its entrance A place for a pint and a chat That worthy market hostelry Hotel Whittington And Cat. It’s many many years Since I went there first With a friend on leave, Both with a squaddie’s thirst In those past times Pubs closed at three And opened again just after tea But not the Whittington. On Market day So long as you bought you could stay. So there we were for the full stint With a bunch of dockers on the dint Then we shared one or two glasses With a couple of honest working lasses Oh I’ll never forget that session Nine full hours, Whittington and Cat For some strange reason the night Gets blurry and distorted after that, But here’s the proof that I survived For here I am and very much alive. My drinking mate now long gone To the Parade Ground at Life’s End But still alive in my memory A true and valued friend. Much quieter now these days When I go out; You can’t drink too much When you suffer from gout. And the Cat still stands there; You’re greeted with a smiling face, In the midst off all that change Still a warm and welcoming place. So raise a glass and make a toast Long may ye thrive, our welcoming host. Long may we drop in for pints and chat. Again lets toast the Whittington and Cat. At The Whittington And Cat

I'm not sure where to start , parking was walking distance and we could take the dog with us . On entering the staff was lovely and friendly, fantastic ambience and decor was beautiful and spacious. I had the home made meat pie which was incredible and buttery mash, vegetables on point and the roast potatoes fluffy like my nan used to make and the Yorkshire pudding was beautiful and home made also . Sunday dinner also was divine . We are booked in for next Sunday. This is a hidden gem . Highly recommended and this establishment go above and beyond any expectations. Thank you all staff .

I can’t comment on rooms, nor location really (the location benefitted me massively, but maybe it’s a tad out of the heart of the city centre?) however, I can fully recommend this pub for its food, its warm welcoming atmosphere and it’s wonderful friendly landlady. I came here after enduring a long drive in bad weather, to refuel myself with some heart pub grub before venturing onwards and I was not disappointed. The pub itself is stuck a lovely little time warp, as the establishment still has separate rooms like a snug and a lounge - something that pubs lack these days. This place has real character and I’ll 100% remember it for if I venture to Hull again. A massive thankyou to the landlady and her chef - from the coach driver.

First time staying here, and in walking distance of town, the deep , but you have a few shops at the rear if the pub/hotel, and this is where you would park your car, opposite is the ice rink to the out let centre, plenty of drinking and restaurants on the Quay, the only down side is the major toad works which have been going on for 3 and a half years, but will be worth it in the end, the Whittington and Cat, is a fab place to stay, Gill very lovely and everyone is friendly, food is divine, and nothing too much trouble, staff polite and friendly, room was done to a high standard. Cash preffered, but card also taken.

This hotel is an absolute gem. Great location and lovely hotel rooms. However the first class service from the staff was above and beyond. We felt like royalty.

We went in after not having been in since the 90s (not for any particular reason, it just hadn't been on our radar for a very long time). SOOOO glad we did. Friendly staff, reasonably priced drinks and brilliant food. My friend eats meat, but I'm vegan. There wasn't just a vegan choice...there were loads of vegan choices! Vegan pie, kiev, burger, ch*cken burger, mushroom stroganoff and sausage and mash as well as vegan desserts. I had the half pound vegan cheezeburger which was really lovely. Highly recommend and can't wait to go back.

Nice place to stay. The pub does food in the evening. The only thing they could do is offer a breakfast hamper of some sort that you could collect from the bar the night before as we struggled to find anywhere in town to get anything on a Sunday morning.

The room (the master suite) was gorgeous, huge bathroom with a nice large tub, extremely comfy bed, clean, TV, small brew station.. Pub just downstairs where the staff are all friendly and the food looked delicious although we did go out to eat and the staff were very helpful with directions, recommendations and advice. Parking right behind the building. Very central to everything. Couldn't be happier with our stay. Very cosy and secure and two very decent night's sleep.

Rooms are an excellent size and beds are extremely comfortable. Bathroom is supplied with shower gels and the place is spotlessly clean. A great price. Thank you Gill, will definitely be staying again.

Decided to pop out for a Sunday Lunch in Hull today, we gave "The Whittington & Cat" a visit, turned out to be an excellent choice, really enjoyable visit, food was first class, great service, and an nice pint. Will definately be going back. If you live local give it a shot, then have a stroll round the marina.

The Whittington & Cat is a traditional two roomed pub and hotel with a stunning tiled exterior. There is a good choice of beers and lagers. A friendly welcoming pub with a cosy interior, well worth visiting.

We had Sunday lunch recently. I'm vegetarian and husband is omnivore so plenty of options for those who eat meat. I tried a vegan pie. Very nice beetroot and butternut squash filling. Plenty of vegetables and meat free gravy for me. Separate gravy boat for hubby who had the steak & ale pie. Always a warm welcome from Jill and staff. Very clean premises throughout. Nicely maintained and comfortable.
