1st visit to this place and will DEFO be going again. Service was brill, food was excellent and fairly priced and you get a decent portion. Music was fab as well

Fantastic food! Portions are so generous and everything’s flavoured perfectly. I’ve only been once before and at the time I could give or take, but now I’d say this is the best place I’ve eaten in ages! Good work

This was my first time here, and I have to say that the food was ok and the service was amazing. We weren’t left having to try and collar a waiter if we needed anything else. He was every now and again asking us if everything is to our satisfaction and offering to get us more drinks if we’d like them. Nice food and friendly staff
Just celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary here and it was the best meal I had had in a long time food service and cocktails all excellent I would recommend it
Just had the Santiago chicken and it was the best I’ve ever tasted it. Always have wonderful food here but today was on another level. Everything was so fresh so much so it tempted me and my friend to have a couple of the cocktails. Not only did we have a fantastic meal at lunch time prices we had 2 for 1 on the cocktails. They were amazing and served by the loveliest young lady who’s service was second to none.

Always love the food from roots it's my favourite restaurant. However, my partner had the curried goat and thinks it should have a notice on the menu saying it may have bones in as eating anything off the bone makes him feel ill and he had quite abit of bone in his meal.

Nice place for Caribbean food and cocktails, best in Hull and Yorkshire. Reggae music all day long and they even have a dj on Friday and Saturday nights and live music on first Sunday.

I went to roots when it first opened pre covid, years ago! And going back now, it's just gotten better. Lovely atmosphere, beautiful food, presented stunningly. The atmosphere is chilled, and open to any occasion. Took my kids (17 year old twins) and it was simply perfect. Son has lamb chops, my pescetarian daughter had the shrimp, and as I eat small amounts (barbaric surgery 6 years ago) I ordered from the small bites menu and was stuffed! Highly recommended, perfect for a midweek chill out meal, or a weekend night out.
Took the wife and kids, it was busy night as there was a live music session on and it was Notting Hill carnival weekend . The atmosphere was lively and the vibes was good.
They gave us a table upstairs away from the bar, the food was delicious and came in excellent time with plantains and rice and peas cooked to perfection.
Decor was properly authentic and resembled the Carribeans style very closely.
Great food and very good tentative service. Wouldn’t recommend it for very young children after 6/7pm as it becomes a rocking bar but 100% recommend a visit here for food rum and vibes
A lovely rustic Jamaican themed eatery. We couldn't fault anything, however our intention was to have curried goat but we had the Sunday lunch and it was amazing. You have to try it, even it's only a drink you want. Plenty of deals advertised on the windows, go on and give it a go 👍 Irie

Such a gem! Love everything about this place! Authentic decor, great atmosphere, delicious food, very good drinks and attentive service. A must when you're in Hull! We had jerk shrimp, arawak king shrimp and curry goat and everything was spot on. Highly recommend flaming zombie cocktail 🍹we tried few others and they were all very good. Such a shame we live so far away that would've been our favourite restaurant.

Service is spot on. We dined outside with our dog and they brought us a bowl and actually seemed happy to be serving people which is a rarity these days.

Authentic Jamaican food with a great ambiance. I’m a big fan of Jamaican food and this hit the spot, meat was very well seasoned and the dish was flavourful.
Excellent read some good reviews about it when we went it was better than expected nice quirky place good decor and plenty to look at . It's not the biggest place so it gets busy very quickly definitely need to book if going . The staff are very friendly and go out of their way to accommodate you quick service not the biggest choice on the menu but foods really good and hot nice portions. Plenty of cocktails to choose from they are even better than the food. There a few big tables so can get a few round them definitely going back

We got takeaway cocktails. They managed to make 18 cocktails in less than 15 minutes which is impressive in itself.
Had a convoy of two staff members come with us to put drinks in the car and suggested their best idea of how to get them back without spilling anything.
Cocktails tasted great, could definitely taste the rum, just how we like our drinks!!
Food is absolutely lovely here. We got the mix meat platter and it was huge. Good value and great atmosphere inside.
