Great servicce. The food we ordered was absolutely delicious. Our mains were served on massive plates so made it looked like it might not be enough (I'm a greedy guts) but we were totally stuffed. Still managed to find a bit of room for dessert though which were lovely and beautifully presented. Great cocktails too. Not the cheapest place to eat but worth every penny. Would definitely recommend!
Took the family (8 of us in total) and we all had a really enjoyable evening.
The appetisers (starters) were almost main course size dishes and the quality of the both starters and main courses was excellent.
I ordered the halibut steak served on colcannon but asked for no butter sauce. The chef came back and offered to make me a sauce of my choice rather than the dish be too dry. When I asked what other sauces were available, the chef replied "you tell me what sauce you would like and I will make it for you!"
Finished off the meal with liqueur coffees, some of us wanted our liqueur inside the coffee, some of us wanted our liqueur on the side....... nothing was too much trouble and the waiting staff served each coffee to the right person.
Waiting staff were very good. Efficient, helpful and very friendly. The restaurant was busy and we were a large group and they still made us feel very welcome.
All around, a very pleasant experience and one that we hope to have again very soon.
Amazing once again had beautiful meal last night I had the scallops then the duck wow my partner had the themador prawns these were to die for I need some again soon he then had the pheasant which he never had before fab choice it was amazing the sauces that come with these dishes were fantastic the flavours going on these plates we eat out a lot at good places and this is one of the top of our favs thankyou to the chefs and staff have fab Christmas and new year ...ps ca you come cook my Xmas dinner
Amazing food! Went on the 17th for a Christmas night out. The restaurant was packed out but still service and food was excellent. I had the filet steak which was cooked perfectly med/rare, others had beef Sunday lunch which looked equally as good. Love this place, would highly recommend 👌🏽
Absolutely loved the food here tonight. I had the scallops to start, then the halibut, finished with the peanut butter and chocolate torte. My partner had the duck to start, the venison and then the lemon and vanilla cheese cake and he was equally as impressed. Very attentive waiters/waitresses who were all really lovely. Will recommend to everyone I know.
Didn’t eat on this occasion only popped in for one drink but ended up staying for a few more! Saturday tea time, so pretty quite and got a table easily, lovely ambiance, friendly staff, place started to fill up as the evening wore on with diners, have tried the food a long time ago but have never been back there to eat again ( wouldn’t like to review food at this time because it’s been a while and feel I couldn’t give it a fair review) that alone, says something I suppose.
Had a late lunch here yesterday, the food was lovely and the staff helped to accommodate my twin pushchair and made me feel very welcome breastfeeding my twin boys, thank you x
Staff were very friendly and attentive, food we ordered was hot and lovely, my steak was cooked to perfection, my friend ordered the chicken which looked great and she said was gorgeous, my only slight gripe was my dessert creme brûlée was very tiny in portion for the price of £6, will definitely visit again though.
Went here on the 17th December and what an amazing afternoon we had. The food was amazing, fillet steak, Sunday dinner are to die for. Went down well with proceco. The service was excellent. Will definitely be going back. 10/10. 🙂
Have to agree with previous reviews. Excellent food, great atmosphere a bit pricey but you get what you pay for. Would certainly recommend it.
Been here 3 times now and it's always amazing! The staff are all lovely and helpful. The food is expensive but it's worth every penny as it's so nice! The deco is nice and it's all very grown up and relaxed. We definitely will be back!
Amazing food here, steak cooked to perfection, staff very nice, guy behind bar was great and very knowledgeable of his gins. Will definitely be returning. thank you for a lovely meal
Fantastic food. Great atmosphere in the best location ever! And the food was served in record time
Excellent food & lovely staff ..been three times now & will go again soon . Really nice place
Big shout out to everyone at Butler whites . Once again you have gone above and beyond . Food and service absolutely amazing . Can not thankyou enough .
Altogether a pleasant experience. Good ambiance. Good service. Not my usual way of serving beef. Used to thick cuts of beef. However was nice all the same. Veg was cooked to perfection. Cauliflower cheese was really nice with a crusty cheese top..No complaints here really..
Visited with 14 colleagues for a team Christmas lunch
Food was fantastic, the steak I had was cooked as asked, service very good (we had pre-ordered) quick with drinks, the service was good between courses.
Would definitely go back
Had a wonderful meal here. Staff were amazing, food was excellent and the restaurant has a lovely vibe
Strongly recommend the chicken wings as a starter and can honestly say I have never tasted a garlic bread(more like a pizza) as good as theirs. Would definitely return when back in Hull
Positives: The food definitely couldn't be faulted and was absolutely delicious. We both had the Porchetta and it was amazing, with a side of honey glazed carrots and red cabbage and kale. Every mouthful was amazing.
However, service was very, very slow.
We waited an absolute age to get our first drinks (over 20 minutes) they weren't hugely busy as we'd booked nice and early. When the food was brought out we'd finished our first drinks but weren't asked if we'd like another and had to flag down a passing waitress to ask for 2 cocktails. Again, we were waiting a very long time. When they did arrive we'd finished eating but nobody removed out dirty plates for ages either.
We'd finished our cocktails and would have had another one each plus a dessert but nobody came back to the table. When someone finally cleated the dirty plates we asked about a dessert menu. We were told one would be brought over. But it never was and we got fed up of waiting so asked for the bill. Waitress disappeared to get the card machine and never came back so we ended up paying at the bar.
This is a moan as such, it's constructive criticism as the quality of the service didn't match the exceptional food, and that's a shame!
Plus through not asking if we wanted a dessert and failing to bring a menu when asked that's a loss of the 2 desserts and 2 more cocktails we would have bought.
However I can't say enough how amazing the food was and would still visit again. But it would be nice if the staff could be a little more attentive , notice when drinks are empty or that people have dirty plates and make sure they ask of dessert is required.
Great food. Had the Sunday lunch which was delicious. One of the party had steak which was very well cooked. So hurrah for the food and drink. Service was good to start but rather tailed off and a bit lacklustre towards dessets. Would visit again.
Recently enjoyed a Sunday afternoon here with family. The restaurant was more or less full, luckily we had pre booked. Starter was a king prawn thermidor, followed by the duck. Both absolutely delicious.
Visited for Sunday Lunch and was incredibly happy. The restaurant looks fantastic and is full of detail and lovely artwork across the walls. The staff were very attentive and helped out a lot with questions in regards to some of the more unusual names on the menu.
Ordered the Lamb and it was rich, juicy and very tasty, mash creamy, buttery and full of flavour, cauliflower cheese was morish. The Yorkshire pudding had a bit more of a cakey consistency than I was expecting but it very much helped with soaking up some of the delicious gravy. My brother ordered pork and I tried a bit of that, melt in the mouth. Lovely. The Garlic, Thyme and Rosemary bread for starter was a great choice also.
Very happy with my visit and would love to go again.
Went for a meal here after hearing good things. Food was fantastic and the menu a great selection of dishes. I had duck carpaccio which was melt in the mouth, halibut which came with an amazing sauce and a chocolate torte which was rich (I don't normally have dessert but the quality of the first 2 courses convinced me). Price for 2 with 3 courses and a few drinks came to about £85 which was well worth it. The staff were friendly and offered good advice regarding menu and wine choices. Can't recommend highly enough and will definitely be returning.
Amazing place , never knew this place existed
Booked in after being recommended by a friend. Our meal was absolutely lovely. Would definitely eat here again!
Absolutely fabulous! Prices was really good. Will definitely be going again
This place is amazing so Atmospheric friendly and professional! The food was outstanding we arrived at 8.30pm was very busy we had booked thankfully. Lovely to see the chefs cooking and cleaning down afterwards was impressive to see! Highly recommend will definitely revisit.
The best team! Butler Whites hosted our wedding recently and the whole day was exceptional: the food, the service, the atmosphere. The venue is absolutely beautiful, too - highly recommend next time you're looking for a really great meal in Hull.
Lovely side street restaurant and bar. Great service even on a sunny busy day. Exceptional pizza, great drinks selection. Would go back here for sure!
I wouldn't have a problem recommending Butler Whites to anyone. We visited on a Thursday, which was surprisingly busy, but the staff were attentive.
In the most part they were able to help with questions about food but their beer knowledge wasn't incredible. For a business which has grown out from Henry Yeast & Sons I would have expected the staff to have a better idea about their beer (and a larger selection of local ales, etc.).
The restaurant area is large and we arrived at 7.00pm with only a few other people around. Coming when it is that empty feels a bit odd but we were amazed at how full it got later.
We had a shared mixed platter to start which came with lots of types of cheese, meats, condiments and more. Very nice.
Then for main we had the mussels and the lamb chop. Both were very good although the lamb had been advertised (twice by our serving staff) as pink in the middle, but came well done. Still was very moist and delicious though. The fried gnocchi which accompanied the plate were a let down unfortunately. They were chewy, overcooked and didn't add to the meal.
The portions of food were so large we didn't have room for dessert. Next time!
Nice to have an open kitchen and staff who are more than happy to let you sit back and relax after your meal. We will return.
They've got several gluten free options here marked on the menu, including gf pizza - and it's actually a proper size pizza too! I only barely managed to finish it, but I was determined because it was so delicious. The restaurant itself is a trendy and unique setting, a high ceiling warehouse type building with modern creative lighting and artwork hanging up. Staff were friendly and attentive. Would recommend!
Came here for my partners birthday last night as I had read some good reviews online. We visited on a Friday evening so naturally it was quite busy and loud inside so we requested to be seated outside which was no problem at all - the table was sheltered too.
We ordered the seafood slate and Henry's wings as starters, and the duck and a pizza for our mains. We both enjoyed everything we ate and I think the wings I had were some of the tastiest I've ever had in a restaurant. The pizza (I can't remember the name but it had beer-chicken and onion on it) was also delicious.
We did wait a little longer than usual to be served/between courses (probably around 15-20 minutes at a time) but I think it is because we are used to visiting chain restaurants where everything is mass produced and microwaved that we even noticed the wait. Generally the staff were lovely and did everything they could for us. I've read a few reviews about the staff not being great but we thought they were really friendly and accommodating.
If we ever come back to Hull this restaurant will definitely be considered again.
