Not surprised they got Restaurant of the Year! Being a Greek from down south and staying up in Hull for the weekend. Wanted to see what Greek food was on offer. Wow, The Greek didn't disappoint. We had the sharing platter, halloumi fries and the Calamari. All the meats were cooked and seasoned to perfection.
The staff where lovely and the restaurant well well-presented.
If you're in Hull and you love good food check it out!
Where do I start! Amazing. Authentic. Friendly. It was our wedding anniversary and we felt really welcome. We had the mixed platters and it was delicious. Cocktails amazing selection. We will be back to try the rest of the menu.
Absolutely divine! This great space serves authentic Greek food that’s cooked to perfection and tastes delicious. The staff are friendly and very welcoming. They’re also incredibly attentive. The space is small but really cosy and intimate. I’d highly recommend The Greek if you like authentic, traditional Greek food. The mastiha liqueur took me back to hot summer nights in Cyprus - Ευχαριστώ!
Good value.
Nice atmosphere.
Good service
Wonderful. We booked a table here whilst Hull fair was on as a pre-meal for the cinema. Lovely little place on a popular strip of places to eat/drink. The service was amazing, the only thing which made it four stars for us was having to chase for additional drinks and paying the bill; everything else was perfect. The lavatory was in great condition too, very clean and tidy with a functional door/lock and lots of resources should one need to make some extra room for more food.
Me and my friend have started to try out different food places in hull. Honestly the greek did not disappoint the food was incredible, fresh, tasty and very mourish! We had a mixture of hot and cold meze plus dessert at the end and honestly it was such a lovely experience from start to finish. The staff were so welcoming and accommodating and also my main this is I was pregnant so couldn't try the cocktails and was offered an ouzo shot at the end when asking for our bill (I thought was very reasonably priced) however when I politely declined the lady came back with greek orange cake for me instead which I thought was such a lovely gesture.
I 10000% recommend and I will definitely be back, hopefully next time I can try a cocktail or two and partake in a shot of ouzo 😉
Outstanding 👌🙂
We arrived, for a booking made by friends of ours, and we had no expectations. And we left impressed!
If you enjoy Greek food, cooked over real charcoal, this is the place for you. Hummus is easy to make, but not at this level!... Hummus shouldn't be an indicator for good food, but if a restaurant is putting in that much effort, the rest must be something special?
The calamari was amazing and cooked fresh (to order) and the bread was just sublime. Don't start me on the varying meat, as I'm in shock at how good it tasted! I even enjoyed the salad 🙀🤣
If you like, love or wish to try, real Greek food, this is a slice of heaven 👌
Never been disappointed here! The food is incredible, which actually is quite annoying because it makes them so popular, so you have to book! Staff are always great and it won't break the bank. Get booking!
Well popped in her to see how it was with the wife at 4pm ish yesterday (friday) so it was quiet. Baby's? Or Harry I think he called himself, the manager, Greater us with a warm welcome into the cosy and spacious restaurant. Inside is lovely, decorated with flowers and plants giving a warm interior. There is a secluded booth for larger groups, we sat by a radiator as it was cold out. I ordered a Mythos beer and wife had a lovely lemon drink Loux I think. Not sour or sharp nor sweet or tasting of saccharine. So, food wise, we ordered calamari, tirokafteri, spanakopita, dollars and Olive bread made that day. I have to say the food was so fresh and the hot starters exactly that. The manager did a quick check back, not in our face or hanging around but polite and brought extra lemon wedges. The food was full of flavour, beautifully cooked and not heavy on the chilli in the dish with them. We took our time then had a pork and chicken gyros (no photos of these as huge and tbh the best I've had). The thyme/salt coated chips were superb. Nothing was greasy or overloaded in oil. All that food plus 2 beers and a softie for 42 quid, money we'll spent in this Greek family run restaurant. They do takeout too. Toilets were spotless. Fantastic and well worth visiting. I'd suggest booking as doesn't have loads of tables. We will be back. Loved it.
Excellent food plentiful and well cooked..Also very good service.
We shared a great mixed grill sharing platter that was certainly plentiful for two, with a side dish of halloumi fries.
Fast friendly service. We'd made a booking and I doubt you'd be able to walk in off the street on a Saturday evening as it is a popular place.
I enjoyed a dark beer with my meal which was comparable to a European dunkel style.
Overall: highly recommended dining in a very popular location.
I love this restaurant. Food is amazing. Been twice and never had a complaint. The staff are so pleasant.
Looking forward to returning.
Great food, great service , nice atmosphere with plenty of greek music which is nice, nice ambient that takes you think that you are in Greece for a minute
Went for a Christmas meal with colleagues and the food, service and atmosphere were all excellent. Staff helpful in suggesting what and how much to order (you can easily add to your order through the meal if you wish, so I chose two mezze to start and it was the perfect amount for me that night).
I love this restaurant. It's really authentic. The staff are wonderful and so welcoming. Can't wait to go back.
Visited from Canada about a month ago, food and service was absolutely divine! I cannot wait to come back!
Other than my Gyros being made up of chicken kebab as oppose to chicken breast was a shame (just my preference) other than that everything about the meal, atmosphere and the service was spot on! 👍🏼
On first impressions I was underwhelmed. The interior is simple, like that of an Aegean coastal village, washed blue woodwork, white tiles and simple wooden tables and chairs. Not particularly loving the fake vines and flowers on the ceiling. That added nothing to the ambiance except looking cheap and gathering dust. The restaurant was a lot smaller than expected, but cosy. Authentic greek music playing in the background, but not too loud, making the atmosphere feel very relaxed and comfortable. Clientele were a mixture of cultures including Greek or Cypriot, which is usually a good indication of the quality and authenticity of the food.
Service was attentive and tables were sanitised before being seated. Hand sanitizer also available on each table and strictly table service, which most of us prefer. Going forward I hope this remains.
The menu isn't crowded, cold meze dishes and hot meze dishes, should you wish to pick and mix as a party. Plus meals from the grill which consist of Gyros,Koftas, Sausage and cutlets. There is a specials board with traditional Greek dishes, such as moussaka. I opted for the Chicken Platter and a Greek salad . If eating a meze the dishes are brought out in order of preparation, cold first. This is a traditional way to dine. Greek wines and desserts are also available.
The platter was a sight to behold, in hindsight I shouldn't have ordered the Greek salad as there was plenty on the platter. The chicken was delicious, shredded and very tasty. The food was very fresh and simply seasoned. This however was very clever as it complimented the freshness of the salad. Sliced pitta, skin on fries and homemade tsatziki dip also included on the platter. I definitely couldn't finish it all.
My only criticism is that I would have liked to see Greek rice as an option, homemade flatbread and there was an overkill of green peppers in the salad.
Overall it was a pleasure to visit with a hipster vibe. Ample parking on the avenue at the front. I would definitely recommend. The most popular dish appears to be the Gyros. Go on, go greek!
Nice experience eating here. Staff are attentive and extremely pleasant, food is all well cooked. It's popular so worth making reservations. Parking is on street wherever you can find it. Wheelchair accessible entrance but not sure how easy it would be to navigate around tables. Plenty of veggie options. Would like more meat dishes on the hot meze menu but that's just me. I felt some things were a tiny bit overpriced and table needed wiping but other than that, I'd highly recommend it.
