If you want to enjoy Italian food while in Hull, this is the place you want to go. Every dish we tried was great. I'm only giving it 4 stars for service because it took a while to get our order (there was only one person taking orders the day I visited), but I loved it.
Really good Italian restaurant that offers a unique atmosphere overlooking at the Hull’s marina. The restaurant is in an old bricks building and the game of lights and colours makes your stay very enjoyable and warm. The food is really delicious, and keeps surprising you. Particularly good choices of ingredients like the excellent extra virgin olive oil which comes directly from Italy.
I will go back and I would recommend it to friends and family!
Not the cheapest restaurant in town, but possibly the best quality of food and great value for money!
Came here just because we were looking for somewhere in Hull that we'd not been to before and found it on Google maps. Booked the table without knowing a huge amount about the place but we were pleasantly surprised upon arrival. It is situated on perhaps a first of second storey level, so the view from the windows over the marina are really good. The interior of the restaurant whilst still fairly rustic and in keeping with the industrial feel of the building, has been very tastefully decorated and laid out with a large bar area and extensive dining area with well spaced tables and the resulting acoustics are much better than some perhaps busier places we have been. Whilst there were plenty of people there that night, it wasn't deafening and there was a really nice atmosphere. The food we chose was gorgeous. My partner had a venison Wellington, off the specials board, I had a fillet steak dish off the main menu. Both were well presented, cooked to perfection and incredibly tasty. We both had the starter, which was equally delicious and for the first time in a very long time, we both had a dessert. Not that we were still hungry, just that all the food was so tasty, we had to sample a small dessert each too nd weren't disappointed!
Whilst I couldn't afford to eat here often, I would certainly like to come back again for a special occasion and I would totally recommend it to anyone wishing to find quality food served in a nice atmosphere by staff who have a smile on their face.
If you want cheap, average food, go elsewhere, you won't find that here. If you want really tasty, original recipes cooked to perfection and served by staff that seem to care about their clients and don't mind paying a little extra for it, look no further.
We will be back. 👍😊
I’ve been to Al Porto a few times previously and have never had a bad meal here. The menu is quite expensive, but the food is absolutely fantastic and obviously made with really fresh ingredients.
The restaurant itself is really nice as well, it’s a red brick interior and feels very cosy and intimate, I imagine it would be perfect for a date night.
The only reason it gets 4 stars and not 5 is because it’s a bit of a pain to get to if you’re driving (no problem at all if you’re walking though) and because it’s in a building that’s multi use it’s a very strange entrance having to go up 2 flights of stairs in what looks like an office? I don’t think there’s any disabled access either by the looks of it.
Great experience though, if I ever need to come back to Hull I would definitely come back.
My colleague and I went to Al Porto Italian restaurant on Thursday and were blown away by our food! The restaurant has a really nice, chilled out vibe, but still holds a level of class. I had the duck liver to start followed by the best risotto I've ever tasted. My colleague had the garlic prawns to start and the spaghetti carbonara for his main. All of the food was lovely
Yet again another faultless evening, stunning food, superb cocktails and the best hosts in the business. Much love to Paolo and his team
Al Porto came highly recommended to us but we hadn't bothered as the menu didn't look all that exciting. We tried this place in the end as we couldn't get into our favourite Italian, Operetta in Bond Street. Straight away we liked the surroundings and were seated in the bar by a really friendly member of staff. Not sure what we were thinking previously as the menu had plenty on it that we fancied, and there was a good choice of specials. I had a spicy sausage pasta starter, which was nice without being amazing, and Helen had king prawns which were huge and very nicely cooked. I had meat ravioli for the main, which is a bit of a boring choice but actually the pancetta and fennel sausage in the sauce made it absolutely delicious. Helen had sea bream with saffron potatoes, which was perfectly cooked and well worth the £25. The bill came to just over £80 which was pretty good considering we had one pricey main and a £20+ bottle of wine. You could obviously eat here for much less. We'll be back here as soon as possible.
This was an amazing find while on a trip to Hull. The food was delicious, perfect Italian, and only wished we could have had And tried more things! The staff went above and beyond, they were so friendly, would talk to you and really cared that you were having a nice time. Would highly recommend!
Lovely romantic dining. Excellent Italian cuisine. Set in one of Hulls iconic converted dock front buildings it provides a great view of the river and marina. Good seafood options and a large wine and spirits selection.
This place is such a lovely place to go! I had emailed in previous for a vegan option they went out their way to make me such two lovely dishes I was very pleased with. The staff are great service was prompt and all my familys food was lovley. Nice for romantic or for family or friends cathering. Will be back again.

Food and presentation is the best 👌 😋
Delicious food. Really great restaurant. Everyone was very nice and polite. It's only a few minutes walk from the Bonus Arena so a great way to start the evening :)
Exceptional food and staff. Everytime we have been its been perfect. Highly recommend for anyone who enjoys steak especially.
We turned up for our reservation only to find they had no record of it and I was cross that they did not have us booked in until my son pointed out it was our mistake he’d inadvertently booked for 2 day previously 🫣🫣 .
The gentleman who attended to us was extremely charming despite my being cross and he set up a table for us even though they were full and very busy. We had a lovely evening food was amazing as was the service and to cap it all they honoured our £50 deposit which we were not expecting them to do.
This was our second visit and we would definitely go again - on the correct evening this time though. 🤣🤣
Book Al Porto for an early dinner before a concert. We arrived at 4pm and spent the next 3 hours eating wonderful food and excellent wine. Our host was magnificent, really sorry cannot remember his name, but he was fantastic, as were the other waiting staff. Highly recommended this restaurant 👌
