Absolutely brilliant food and staff are helpful and friendly, the pub itself is beautiful and characteristic and has a wonderful feel and atmosphere, i highly recommend this pub for its quality of food and friendly atmosphere. Definitely 5☆

Just been to the Old Rydon for Sunday lunch with the family we all agreed it was the best Sunday lunch we’ve had out, and that’s really saying something from my family! The staff were lovely and the food delicious. Many thanks.
Took my workforce to the old rydon for Christmas and was an absolute treat. Thankyou to all the staff and kitchen the food was amazing, we had a beautiful set up and they accommodated everyone and everything they asked for. Merry Christmas from gem Rose Hair
Turned up at the pub and it was closed , land lord was in the garden and what a star , he opened up for us what an amazing building , one bottle of wine turned into three the staff was so easy going and very chatty . Didnt get round to eating there but heard they did amazing food .thankyou xx
Many thanks to Charlie and Amy, and the Chef at the Old Rydon for preparing us such a lovely meal to eat at home for a family event. Food was wonderful, beautifully presented and in insulated containers. If you haven't eaten Old Rydon food, you are missing out! Fantastic food, fantastic service and fantastic people!
Love the old rydon. The food is always so good and they go above and beyond to cater for vegetarians. Can't recommend it enough. The Thai banquet is also amazing!!
Had a lovely meal for our girls Christmas night out! Fantastic food, wonderful staff and service! Thanks especially to Gemma! Great leadership
Love the Sunday roasts, loads of it beautifully cooked all meats with Yorkshire’s and with plenty of lovely veggies, served on plates..yippee no silly slates or breadboards!!
Come here quite often and never disappointed, staff lovely, oh and what you can’t eat goes in doggy bags, price well very good value for money.
Amazing roast dinner yesterday!! Def recommend it and im sure it will be a regular sunday haunt of ours!! Very friendly staff too!!

Fantastic food and very accommodating staff. We love eating here! Never had a bad meal yet! Highly recommend it.
Amazing have fallen in love with this beautiful local country pub.It has the vibe when entering. The food is is pretty special.I love love this place xx.
Lovely conservatory area for seating, great atmosphere with most people eating food. Menu has great variety and all of it looked lovely coming out of the kitchen. Staff were attentive and friendly, food and drink came quickly and tasted fantastic. We went for pizzas but the Thai food looked amazing at the table next to us too. Would recommend to anyone looking for a nice pub in the south Devon area.
Lovely little pub, staff are very friendly and welcoming.
What starts as a tiny little pub, opens up into a bigger restaurant and through to an even bigger seated area. On this visit, I didn't get to check out the garden.
The wife wasn't overly impressed with her homemade pizza, but I thought it looked great and tasted good. Opting to change from mushroom and olives to just mushrooms may have been a factor here. There wasn't a lot of flavour to be fair, but I would order a pizza when visiting again. It really did look 100% homemade l, just as it said on the menu.
I opted for the rump steak myself. Not my favourite steak, but it was a good quality cut of meat and it was cooked perfectly.
I wasn't overly impressed with the blue cheese sauce, it was a decent sauce, but lacking in blue cheese flavour.
The inside plants could have done with a good dusting, they were covered in cobwebs on my visit, which was annoying.
But any pub or restaurant has a high standard to live up to having worked in the trade for 10 years myself.
I would definitely recommend a visit for food and would definitely return here for another meal.
Great place for a Sunday roast, great quality food and portion sizes fit for a king. They even have plastic rubs for people to take the food away as the portion sizes are so generous.
Staff were very friendly even under pressure of full service on a busy Sunday.
If I was going to pick a negative it would be that the car park is not big enough.
Went here last night for Tia night. All of our food was 10 out of 10. I can't fault any of it. All of the dishes were full of different flavours and a good balance of heat. I love Tia food and I was really surprised on how generous the portions are and the quality of food. The staff are really lovely too. I can't wait to go back this is my new favourite place to eat Tia food.
I had the pleasure of dining in this old pub (26/7/23) and selected the Thai fusion menu of mixed entree and several dishes with rice for mains. Absolutely delicious and I have never had such fresh vegetarian spring rolls; definitely not the typical frozen ones at most Asian restaurants. The two waitresses and barman were very attentive, very friendly and ever so professional; brilliant service. The atmosphere was family friendly on the school holidays and was quite busy midweek (I think the waitresses did a billion steps between the kitchen and delivering orders!).Thoroughly recommended. Mark from Australia 🤠
Wonderful place, very welcoming friendly and attentive staff.
The food is well priced, highly delicious and clearly chosen for it's locality (ie fish locally caught etc)
I've only met the owner a couple of times before, but, he like his staff is really open, and welcoming. I may have slight bias due to him being one of my mum's childhood friends.
Still, great restaurant regardless!
Highly recommend, in fact may be one of the best restaurants in the area if I'm honest.
Menu has a nice selection, well rounded.
What I had:-
Starter - garlic mushrooms
Main - Game Pie with chips and vegetables
Pudding - Passion Fruit Pannacotta
Lovely venue.. building has so much history. The Sunday roast is amazing, good hearty portions and full of flavour.
Lovely roast dinner if you're hungry! Hearty portion, nicely presented, good choice of meat. Nice layout of the upstairs dining room, very cosy, with cushions, old-fashioned lamps (a bit dusty) and stuffed animals on the walls and shelves. My first time in this pub, but worth visiting if you heading in that direction :)
Great quirky pub with a beautiful garden, had food and drinks which was fantastic. Owner let us stay on the carpark in our motorhome as we were tired so stayed untill the morning. Would definitely recommend and will be going again when in the area.
Great pub. Food is amazing. We had 3 meals here in a week. Each one was excellent. Sunday roast was the highlight. Wish this was my local!
Lovely atmosphere in the old part of the pub and a bright and airy extension which leads on to the secluded beer garden. Wherever you are seated you'll be in for a fantastic meal. The food is amazing!! I come here on special occasions due to how good the menu is and the gigantic banquet style carverys (you'll be taking home a doggy bag with you!). Highly recommend, we've been back again and again.
I'm in my 70s now and have ate at many of the best restaurants but had my best meal here today without a doubt. I had duck and my son had belly pork both cooked and presented beautifully. Well worth asking price. Fantastic garden to sit out in also.
Amazing restaurant, food first class and choice of traditional pub roasts but also Asian influenced dishes. Excellent wines and desserts. Friendly and welcoming, perfect for a special occasion or Sunday lunch.
A group of four of us had a very good meal here this evening (Friday on a bank holiday weekend). Food was excellent and, although very busy, we didn't have to wait too long for service or for our meals to arrive. The rump steak was excellent and came with a decent sized bowl of chips which made it very good value for money. Much better than those places that serve about half a dozen chips with a steak!!
Great vegetables with all meals and the fish was also very good.
Although local, we haven't visited for a year or three but the food is so much better now and good value despite rising prices. Staff were excellent and very friendly and the bar (although tiny, like the gents in the main building) was easy enough to get served at.
My only small gripe is that the bar doesn't serve ale (proper beer) just lager and hoppy IPA. Even the odd bottle of Newcastle Brown in the fridge would improve the visit for us ale drinkers (although I admit most trendy pubs seem only seem to serve lager and the more happy versions of IPA now so it's probably my age.)
I would definitely come back for the food but will probably stick to one of the other local pubs for the beer.
Always have great service and lovely food. We love the Thai Banquet which is on the menu every Wednesday evening.
Staff are top notch, (can't single anyone out) from the owner to the manager and servers.
Feels like home!
Lovely environment/ interior. Really friendly and efficient staff. Food was absolutely great!! Can't fault this restaurant at all.
A gem of a place! We stayed in the accommodation for 5 days while visiting family and it was just fabulous. We couldn't fault anything. Spacious, spotless and had everything we needed. We also ordered food and drinks from the pub which was also very good. The Thai banquet and grill nights are a must! Lovely hosts and will definitely be back.
