I was fortunate enough to visit Wild Artichokes pop-up restaurant in Kingsbridge last weekend and what an unforgettable experience it was.
I had a fabulous dinner here, kicking off with antipasti, truffle arancini - small balls of joy made with risotto rice and truffles, covered in breadcrumbs and deep-fried, they were sublime, salmon poke and my very first okonomiyaki. Never has cabbage tasted so good, once you try Jane's you'll be hooked.
Well into the swing of the evening, Sam brought out a selection of two seasonal lamb dishes, accompanied by fresh beetroot salad, artichokes with kale and green olives and saffron roast potatoes with fennel. This really hit the spot, though I couldn't resist from indulging in the sublime desserts - I strongly recommend the lemon and orange tart.
This is my first visit to the Wild Artichokes pop-up and most certainly not my last.

This is a hidden gem in Kingsbridge. I have just celebrated a private birthday lunch for 26 people. The food was fantastic, so many amazing dishes that just kept coming. The service was excellent, thank you Jane, Joe, Jo & George for producing such a fabulous birthday lunch for me 🍽🥂💜

A private Sunday lunch for my friends big birthday. Absolutely blown away. Such attention to detail as you walk in and amazing service. The food took my breath away and it just kept on coming ! An amazing concept and I only wish I didn’t live 235 miles away !

Lovely tasty food ,like the casual relaxed atmosphere ,bit of an adventure not knowing who will sit next to you ! But interesting & fun .
My sister and I and our husbands had Sunday lunch a couple of weeks ago. Wasn't sure what to expect but our expectations were surpassed. Love the idea of having something of everything on the menu, so no food envy when stuck with one choice. All the food was well thought out and presented and also explained to us at each course. A good tip would be to view the menu in advance so you can match the wine you would want to bring. Loved sharing the table with a young funky couple but if you aren't keen to share with people you don't know, book a table for six! Another good tip, where something with an elasticated waist, we waddled home, replete, happy and wanting to share with our friends. Really fresh amazing food, well worth a visit
The food was the most scrumptious I have tasted. Staff just lovely and the atmosphere perfect. Already can't wait to go again!

A novel experience. A fixed menu, plates are simply put in front of you to share with the others on your table. The food was wonderful, lots of flavour, interesting dishes. Wine is not too expensive, from £27 a bottle. An enjoyable evening
Exceptional meal, great service. No menu choice - eat their selection of dishes and share with others on your table. Only gripe ... venue is strange windowless shed in industrial enclave in Kingsbridge. But food is SO GOOD that i was happy to overlook that.

Jane Baxters food is delicious with the affable Sam Millar sorting front of house a good night is virtually guaranteed a smorgasboard of a tasting menu to share with fellow guests who on the two occasions we have been have been excellant company look forward to returning next year

Truly world-class food in a comfortable, informal setting. The staff are friendly and accommodating and the atmosphere is relaxed. We've been several times over the years and have always been wowed by the experience.
Fantastic 9 (?) course tasting menu, make sure you pace yourself! Recommend trying the Franz Haas Pinot from Trentino.
