Kilmartin Museum Cafe - Kilmartin - Photo album

Brand new museum, highlighting the local history, in theory, but really applicable to anywhere in the country. Fabulously presented, though the video presentation at the end was laughable and put a downer on the visit. We did the walk from the museum and it was underwhelming, to say the least. Museu
I love the new museum for both the artefacts and layout, so much information...I have to revisit. The cairns/stones are special, Templewood is my favourite. Do visit!
Marks for potential. The museum has been extensively expanded and renovated but remains closed in June 2023. The museum will display many of the finds from the surrounding area. New extended parking area at the museum.
Really amazing museum which has had a major upgrade. Top quality exhibits in a fabulous self guided space with plenty of interactive activities which kids would love. I especially enjoyed the 5 stamping stations where you can emboss a collectors card with different images.
This has all been modernised recently so nothing like the old building with tea room. The cafe is not ready yet so we went across the road to the hotel which was extremely accommodating. The museum is well worth a visit with interactive areas, videos explaining how people lived and worked 4000 years
Friendly, helpful staff. Really interesting museum. Kilmartin oozes history. Booked onto the guided walk at Kilmartin Glen.....standing stones etc.
New museum, well presented information, a must see for anyone in the area and interested in history. Plenty parking. Next to churchyard with historical grave artefacts worth seeing. Should be 5 star review when a cafe is available!
I visited the museum on holiday as a break from the motorbike with the family. Very nice establishment which brings tourists to the Kilmartin village. The car park was full which isn't a bad thing. We bought ice creams from the van which stops there every Monday and I had a look in the gift which ha
Fantastic refurbished museum for an increqdable area. Good displays and information panels. Be aware there is no cafe on site at present. No water bottle filler, no drinks or fridges. It's disappointing a new facility like this with substantial walks around the monuments and nothing to drink or eat.
Incredible. What an excellent example of a small museum with some really fascinating local history and exhibits. Beautifully renovated too.
Great little museum with lots of artifacts outside. Nice area for hiking. The ladies in the bistro are probably the nicest I have ever met. Delicious tea & snacks.
Small rustic museum, but just packed with artefacts and descriptions of life in the adjacent valley from the ice age to the middle ages. Really fascinating to see what sorts of people lived there and how they subsisted through the ages. Mind blowing that rise and fall of sea levels affected local bi
Interesting but in need of a refresh. Some good things on display and worth seeing. Go round if you are doing the walk which is well worth the effort.
Although the museum will reopen only in July 2023, the grounds etc are accessible for visitors. The whole place takes you back into history. You can feel it (or it might just be bingeing on Vikings and the Last Kingdom!)
I loved the serenity of Kilmartin and the fact that you could walk amongst tge standing stones and ruins. It was a fascinating and ancient place. You do need to walk on grass, but there is disabled acces.
