The staff were super friendly and the Landlord even stopped to sit with us for a couple of minutes and told us some interesting history of the pub and area. He explained how the bridge came first in the 900's, then the pub and the church came third as the Pub brought the worshippers. A spectacular setting and there's even an old Norman Church dating from the 1300's across the road which is worth a visit.
Stopped off after hiring a canal barge for the day for a bite to eat with our little dog who was made to feel more welcome than us π beautiful food, they made her some little sausages which she shared with a dog next to us! Landlord was lovely, chatty and friendly and the staff all hard working and pleasant. Can highly recommend.
First time eating here, the reception was lovely. Made us feel very welcome. The food was absolutely delicious. Best pub food I've eaten in a long time. We will be back for more π
Our family have been in to celebrate a birthday, 11 of us and everything was brilliant. Great food (as always), great atmosphere and the staff are lovely. Cannot fault The White Lion for food and drink and would highly recommend to anyone.
The last sunny day before Autumn arrived! We were originally going to Crag and Coffee....but it looked so inviting. Tge food was worth the hour wait π€πππ
We called in for a sandwich and a drink after a walk along the canal, the food was reasonably priced and very tasty, the staff were friendly and welcoming and one side of the pub is dog friendly , my only criticism is that there is a lovely outside area with tables but no umbrellas which are needed in the stifling heat , overall a nice place to stop just off the canal for a pint and a bite to eat.
Me my wife and Maggie our dog stopped off yesterday for a bite to eat and a drink we had hired a canal barge for the day so we stopped off for something to eat the staff were very friendly and polite the pub was very nice we had a sandwich and it was very lovely with potato skins which were very nice to the landlord was very nice too would very much recommend this very lovely pub .
Had a great meal here, posh steak pie, really tasty. Great location with plenty of outdoor seating.
Five star quality setting, service and food. Enjoyed an evening here in a group of six. Stopped over night here from the canal.

Stopped here while we had a day on the canal boats very friendly and polite and the food we would highly recommend was served nice and hot all freshly made we will definitely be going back again
Just called in for lunch, not been before but will definitely be going again. Staff were lovely and polite. But the food.....wow. It was beautiful. Dave had the steak pie and the meat was so tender and lots of it. I had fish pie, it was piping hot when it came out and was still piping hot 15 minutes later. Tons of fish, prawns and topped off with mash and cheese. Would highly recommend π
Just turned up on the off chance. A table was found for us without any fuss. The food was excellent and so was the service. Posh pie was gorgeous...
Amazing Sunday dinner, friendly staff, very helpful, dog friendly and made space for our group of 10 at very short notice! Couldn't recommend more
