I love this pub good food staff lovely manager his very helpful and friendly I lost some money there and manager found it and put it on one side for when I went next time so good honest person would recommend this pub for thee food all fresh carvery great good choice to all you folks go and give it a try u won’t be disappointed from Mandy
We stayed on the campsite behind the pub for the weekend.
Can not fault it at all.
All other campers were very friendly, electric hook up, water tap and new shower and toilets.
I would like to give a big shout out to the owner of the pub, Dave who went out of his way for us, even offered to tow our caravan all the way home to Liverpool when our car broke down.
Top guy! Thank you.

We travelled down from Newcastle and omg this place is amazing ! Glamping is so our new thing , the pods are such great sizes we came with our two young boys who had so much fun !! Would highly recommend and will be returning for a longer stay !
Fabulous meal tonight.
We had the carvery which was great value for money. The meat was beautiful and such a great range of fresh veg.
I didn’t think I’d manage a desert but it would have been rude not too! We weren’t disappointed with the Brownie or the Baileys cheesecake �
Also, lovely ambience and great service.
To anyone thinking of trying to - believe the hype! It’s as good as people say it is.
Can’t wait to come back.

I love this pub! The carvery is fantastic...They serve the best selection of vegetables ive ever seen, and everything tastes amazing! Worth the 40 minute drive every time....as an added bonus the staff are also very friendly and accomadating. Couldn't ask for more :)
We have come here for a family lunch, they were amazing, really friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble, highly recommend this place

Totally different experience for food than other reviews. Went on a Thursday evening. Staff were amazing and attentive. Meat loaf was absolutely amazing as was the risotto and the children's chicken goujons were home made - one of the nicest meals we've eaten out in a long time!! Can't wait to return �
Stayed in the pods/wooden cabins at the oak, staff were so lovely and had arranged banners/balloons all inside for my partners birthday which we were so grateful for and loved! Went inside for the carvery which was amazing! Would deffo stay again! �

Went to a wedding here. Main course was the carvery which was excellent. Evening buffet was plentiful and full of variety. Service and bar staff very good. Made a good venue. The main room was beautifully decorated.
Not locals and wanted some where for Sunday tea. Well fair to say it's not posh but actually a very nice local style pub. Area to stay sit out side if you want. The Carvery was good value and quality with no complaints. Staff young and friendly with good service. If you just want good food and a beer this is the place to go
Stopped here after a long ride just as the kitchen was closing, but they stayed open a bit longer to get us fed before we started our journey back! The food was just right, and the chips were the best I've had in a long time! Thanks to Kez for cooking for us while you cooked your own dinner, and for the others for making us feel really welcome👌
Fish Friday....two fish suppers, two pints of bitter and a pint of coke for under £24, bargain. Will definitely return again!

Food was absolutely beautiful! We had the carvery. Price is brilliant too for what you get. We went on Friday lunchtime. The service was 50/50 as the one girl was brilliant and the other let the side down. The first girl made us feel quite unwelcome (deep frustrated sigh when we said we hadn't booked then didn't make it clear who she was sitting down where and then didn't take any drinks orders and just walked off with no explanation), but I shook it off as we were hungry and the food ended up being great.
They had a big table so I noticed other diners waiting a long time to eat, but they were warned about the wait. Glad we had the carvery as it was super quick. As I said, the other girl was brilliant and we were glad she ended up serving us anyway.
First time there, and it's definitely awkward if you've not been there before as there are no explanations or instructions for getting the carvery, or even how to get the bill! So be prepared to ask about everything 😂.
We would definitely go again as the food was really yummy. Hopefully, next time we get a better welcome but, for the price, it's definitely worth it anyway. 😁👍
Wow, what a find. Pass this place regularly but stopped today for lunch and not disappointed, particularly when meals on a Saturday are 241. Great selection and food really good. Hubby had steak which was cooked to perfection and I had carvery with my steak and Ale pie. Plenty of choice of vegetables and all cooked well. We will definitely be coming back soon.

All cooked lovely and moist.
Carver was plentiful in her servings, and willingly gave me silverfoil to accommodate a sandwich for tomorrow.
Servers was pleasant and willing to go the extra mile for us.....definitely be back for a carvery very soon.
Had a beautiful carvery here recently and it was delicious. So many meat and veg choices! I over filled my plate, couldn't put anything more on it but I ate the lot an then enjoyed the gorgeous lemon roulade with cream.....soooo good and a fantastic low price. Will definitely return when up your way visiting family. Thankyou for a great meal. Beautiful place. Clean and tidy, so much choice.

We had a fabulous meal today. Chose from the menu but the Carvery looked fantastic too. Very reasonable, very quick service, helpful and friendly staff, lots of food, The beef cob was beautiful. Sat outside, really really lovely. Will definitely come again 👍
I went on a Sunday. It was a little out in the sticks. But, a lovely drive. Being a Sunday, the menu was a little limited with a choice of Carvery or around 5 other pub classics. My partner had the Carvery it was very good quality with wide selection of veg. The beef was melt in your mouth good. I had the hunters chicken which was a little average. But, it came with good chips and an excellent salad. I would definitely go again.
Family Christmas meal was very nice at the Royal Oak. Great staff, friendly and welcoming. The atmosphere was great and warming.
