Went for the Christmas package and it was wonderful from the word go.
The food was excellent and all the staff were happy and smiling.
The room was small but it is a Victorian Hotel but the view of the lake was amazing.
Great waterfall shower with fluffy towels and robes.
Breakfast had plenty of hot choices as well as a buffet. Recommend the waffles with berries and maple syrup
Christmas lunch was great with plenty of options to choose from.
Everything was laid on with a quiz, the Kings speech on a big screen whilst eating Christmas cake and mince pies.
Would definitely go here again and cannot recommend it highly enough.
Looking for a wedding venue in the Lake District can be a daunting task. We both love the lakes so there was so many places to pick from which had meaning to us. However when we looked at Lodore for an Autumn/Christmas wedding there was no going back. We contacted the hotel to arrange a meeting with the wedding coordinator and to look round the hotel with all the Christmas decorations set up. When we arrived we were blown away with the effort this hotel goes to for Christmas. It was stunning!
We met with Nicole who talked us through the packages and various extras the hotel could offer. She was very helpful and was always on the end of an email to answer any questions I had very quickly! We were sold on the hotel for the amazing views and friendly staff.
Throughout the booking and organising of our wedding there was never any problem speaking to people and confirming things the wedding team are amazing. We had a food tasting before picking our menu and it was all really good. The hotel went above and beyond to ensure that family members with allergies were catered for; nothing was too much of an ask.
Our final meeting and run through before the big day was with Michella, she was so enthusiastic about the day and ensured we had nothing left unanswered. She booked us breakfast, evening meals and spa slots for our time at the hotel.
Our big day went perfectly, the rooms were set up just as we'd asked. Everything was placed in the correct places. The food was served in good time. There was never any worry about anything all day which is what you need as a Bride and Groom it allowed us to enjoy our day. The staff had everything covered.
We spent a few extra days in the hotel following our wedding and enjoyed the spa and a meal in Mizu which was amazing. We already can't wait to return year on year for our anniversary. This hotel will forever hold a special place in our hearts.

Visited the spa for a 2 hour thermal journey. Beautiful new spa with various sauna & steam rooms. Lovely outdoor pool/jacuzzi with numerous jets around the circumference to massage your whole body whilst you take in the incredible views. There's an outside sauna which has a full glass wall which again has fabulous views, went in there a few times as it was amazing. Lovely champagne bar serving a variety of snacks and drinks which most people enjoyed outside in the pool. A great end to our stay in Borrowdale hotel, just along the road, and will definitely be returning
We always have lunch in this hotel on our yearly jaunt to Keswick. Met my daughter in law there after a spa morning. The Ladore never fails to impress. The surroundings are lovely, the staff are welcoming, polite and helpful. Food excellent and plentiful. Then trip back in a boat to Keswick. We would usually walk before lunch but the weather this year was appalling and couldn't be done with a 4 year old.
beautiful location, lovely hotel overlooks lake, feels very remote. hotel is clean, modern, comfortable, breakfast is nice and pool and spa is lovely. would definitely recommend
only downside is you have to book a timeslot for spa and at busy periods its all booked up. plus seems a bit extra to charge £35pp for the pool after spending £250 a night on a room
Such an amazing setting, the outdoor pool with the view of Derwent and the northwestern Fells - worth visiting for this alone! Staff all very friendly and welcoming. Cara in particular - the manager I believe - was brilliant, providing an American level of customer services.
We will definitely be back.
We had a double and a twin room. The double was nice and the bed very comfortable but the twin was very small and quite ugly, definitely not what you would expect from the price paid.
The spa is absolutely wonderful but you have to pay for entry which makes the price of the hotel room slightly less reasonable. The views from the outdoor pool are incredible.
Staff are all very friendly and the lounge areas are really nice but the food in the Lakeview Restaurant is not what you would expect for the price paid. The food portions are small and nothing special but the view is lovely if you get a good table.
Overall, for the price, staying in the hotel lacked the wow factor but the spa was absolutely incredible and perhaps made up for it.
Our stay at Lodore Falls this weekend was absolutely perfect and one to really remember as we actually got engaged on our stay 🥰 Everything from start to finish was of excellent quality, standard and customer service. We started off with a visit to the spa which is out of this world. I have never felt more relaxed in my life and there are so many treatments and exciting areas to use. The girls running the spa that served us were absolutely lovely and are a credit to the hotel! If your looking for a spa break I promise you will not be disappointed! We then headed to check into our room and we were given a free upgrade due to being cancelled on earlier this year due to upgrades taking place. The hotel was very apologetic for any inconvenience caused by this but we were so glad we waited to view the newly renovated Lodore in all of its glory! We were placed in room 108 in the junior suite and it is out of this world. The suite is just the right size and is filled with so many mod cons that make your stay super comfortable. The balcony we had with a view of the lake and side view of the spa was phenomenal and added to the romance of the weekend. The bed was the comfiest hotel bed I've ever stayed in in my life! We then took our time getting ready as we made reservations for the mizu (please bare in mind if you wish to use the spa or dinner facilities then pre book before your stay, the hotel do mention this upon booking and I've seen many reviews of people being disappointed not being able to book these when they arrive as they are very popular for good reason and people need to take notice of their booking instructions) The Mizu did not disappoint us either, the food was out of this world we had the giant sharing platter as we just wanted to try everything. Food was full of flavour and excellently presented we came away with very full bellys and felt extremely satisfied. The staff could not do enough for us and we felt very well looked after 🥰 We then spent the rest of the evening trekking up to the top of the reason Lodore has it's name the fantastic waterfall found towards the back of the hotel. The view from the top did not disappoint either! We then spent an evening on the balcony watching a barn owl hunting waiting for the stars to make their appearance. I cannot fault our stay and there is nothing we did not enjoy. Everything felt luxurious and we felt our money was well spent. If you wish for a taste of luxury save your money to book the best rooms you can, yes they may seem expensive but they are worth every penny in my opinion! Breakfast was fantastic in the morning, service was excellent and the choice was amazing. The continental breakfast is gorgeous and there will be something for everyone and our hot food choices were perfect too. We had a window seat and the view over the fells in the morning sets you up for another great day ahead. Thankyou Lodore Falls you have been amazing and we will be back every year for our anniversary ❤️🥰🍾🎉
We went to the spa only. It does look brand new. A robe and towels are provided to use. We went in the morning and the first two rooms genuinely didn't seem to be on. That only left 2 steam rooms and 2 saunas plus experience showers. Now I will caveat this to say the outside pool is really lovely with great views and lots of bubbly bits you can turn on and water jets. There are around 12 relaxation beds inside but these always seemed to be reserved with towels so we couldn't get on them in our two hour slot. It does say not to do that, but there were no staff enforcing this.
So the highlight for us was the outdoor pool. Although, there was a lot of maintenance happening and there was lots of pneumatic drilling virtually all the time we were there. It would have been nice if we'd have been warned about this before booking. I really feel sorry for guests at the hotel.
Perhaps we've been spoiled by Centerparcs Aqua Sana but then it is a similar price normally (£70 for 2 hours vs. the same price at Aqua Sana for 3 hours). However we got it half price so 4* seems fair.
Very nice hotel and good location, regular bus service right outside the hotel which is a plus.
Immaculately clean and excellent menu's in the two restaurants which serves very tasty food.
The only downside is service was very slow at peak times especially breakfast and also younger members of staff seemed unsure of what to do! This could just be due to the time of year Christmas /New year period? However this would not stop us returning to Lodore falls hotel ..
Five star pricing for four star facilities and service. Ate dinner in the Lake View restaurant, and had to pour my own wine, and the white bottle was just put on the table without an ice bucket. No air con in rooms, and we had to have the window open due to the heat. Weddings both evenings we were there so guests getting picked up until 1/2am, so didn’t sleep. We did get a fan, which helped a little. Room was lovely otherwise, fab tea and coffee making facilities and fresh milk every day! Spa was lovely too, but again service was lacking. No poolside waiting, so had to get in and out the pool a lot for drinks and nibbles and the charcuterie board was not worth £17.50. Finally, brekkie was terrible - we ordered our food two days running with the manager or assistant manager, and both days it was incorrect. Raw tomato, raw black pud, my poached egg was raw! It just wasn’t good at all. Really big shame. The manager seems to respond a lot to reviews calling them “one sided”, so I’m expecting that here, to get ahead I’d just like to say, we gave all of this feedback at the hotel and we filled out their request for feedback seven months ago, with no response. Our bill for two nights, dinner bed and brekkie, spa access, was >£1000. I just expected a little more. Mizu, however, was out of this world - DO NOT MISS OUT on this incredible restaurant.
(Stayed in August 2023, accidentally posted under Lodore Falls the waterfall originally! Oops!)
Me and my friend stayed a couple of nights at this amazing hotel and we can't understand why its not 5 stars for it definitely delivers in every way as a 5 star hotel. Straight away our room was upgraded, the staff were amazing very helpful very friendly such a warm comfy welcoming environment, the views are stunning they will go out of their way to make sure you are comfortable and it is one of the places that I highly recommend and I know for a fact that I would love to come back again and again .The breakfast had amazing variety buffet available as well as the hot menu breakfast. On-site hotel that was just one-of-a-kind and the spa just completely top's the experience .And the views are just breath taking.Highly recommend for families and friends.By far one of the best stays we’ve had so far in the lakes!
