I am absolutely thrilled to write a glowing review for the exceptional wedding planner and stunning venue that made our special day an unforgettable experience. Despite a change with our wedding planner, Tim stepped in and managed everything to make our day perfect.
His dedication and attention to
My sister hosted her wedding here last weekend, it was a beautiful day made even better my accommodating staff. Tim in particular was a great help to the family, nothing felt like too much to ask. The grounds are beautifully kept and learning about the history of the place added to the experience gr
Great castle owned by the Earl of Devon. Well worth a visit the castle is worth a look around and they even let dogs inside. The grounds are lovely with Deer roaming everywhere
Great place to go and visit. Free parking. You get discounts for being an English heritage member and other memberships as well. It is a very recently built house/ castle but nevertheless great fun. When we went, they had a shaun the sheep event, was turned into a competition between my wife and I
A lovely Sunday at the Powderham Food Festival!
Lovely stalls! Great food!
Would not advise bringing your dog to this event as it was very busy.
Not really a castle but more a fortified manor house. Still privately owned by the Courtney family. The secret garden looks a bit run down which is a shame. Good for children as there are small animals and a fort. The house itself is very interesting. The blue hall is stunning. A free audio tour is
I have always heard about powderham castle and surprisingly around this area, I bought my first car. Right, let's get to it. Firstly, the castle entrance fee is very affordable and they offer discounts to various support workers. The tour guide inside the castle is very entertaining and he is hilari
Had a lovely wander around Powderham Castle, gardens and deer park. The castle dates from 1391 and is the current home of Charles Peregrine Courtenay 19th Earl of Devon (the 28th generation of the Courtenay family to live here). You can freely enter the castle ground floors but you'll need a tour g
Second visit we've done. The last time was 6 years ago, and it's just as good as I remember. This time, there was a Falconry display, which was brilliant. Would advise to bring a picnic as the café there doesn't have a huge choice (sandwiches and sausage rolls etc) and when we popped in at 3 they ha
We visited with family from US. We waited for the tour which was very enjoyable and interesting. Spent 2 hours here, nice little coffee shop. We walked up from Starcross (25 mins up hill) and caught the bus back (5 mins)
Excellent day out for the whole family. This is a private Castle owned by the Earl of Devon, down the usual narrow windy lanes. Impressive grounds, you drive over a narrow hump back bridge to adequate well shaded parking.
Staff were all friendly and helpful. The ground floor of the Castle is open to
Charming palace...in constant process of renovation..though much achieved already.
All done in keeping with historical heritage.
Most impressive views across their parkland and deer herds to the mouth of the River Exe and beyond. Plus beautiful gardens and a courtyard coffee shop.
The castle is amazing. Staff was very helpful and knowledgeable. They have audio guides as well. Apart from the wonderful interior, I was taken away by the beautiful rose gardens. You can see deer area as well.
We visited Powderham Castle during the Easter holidays. We loved it. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and witty too! The castle and grounds were amazing! In particular the stairway, bedrooms and, music room. The grounds were superb. We loved the secret garden with all the animals and a safe plac
Lovely castle, we did the state room tour which was interesting to learn about the past owners. There is another tour which is called up stairs down stairs. This tour is really popular. The cost of the ticket covers the entrance for a whole week.
So much for the price! Beautiful grounds, animals to view and pet, and a castle tour! Tour guide Peter was lovely. Very knowledgeable, funny, and engaging. Would love to return for the scenery and castle cats. Great day out for anyone.
We had a super time today. We had the free guided tour of the Castle ( a tour of the unseen upstairs as stated a very undressed part of the Castle.) You always think that every room is going to be grand. I suppose if you have 100 rooms to look after some have to be put into a sort of storage. A real
Excellent venue surrounded by stunning parkland with some amazing old trees. One of the oaks must be around 1k years old and fine examples of sweet chestnut and cork oak. Pete Tong also happened to be playing with the heritage orchestra doing Ibiza classics. Great show enjoyed by all.
