We stayed here for 4 nights. We are a family of 4. 2 adults and 2 kids. Positives: + Great location, short walk from the town center & station + Covered free parking! A big plus if you’re driving down + Swimming pool and sauna was awesome! We went to the pools every evening & the kids loved it. Plus with day long walks, it was a welcome break and a great way to retire for the evening. + Breakfast was good. You get the full classic English breakfast + In-house restaurant and Pub are quite nice. + The staff are super friendly. Negatives: - We paid a high rate. I’ve stayed in 5 stars for those rates. Book really early. - Hotel could do with an update.

Nice place situated next to the river Kent. Good points decent room. Good views from riverside rooms. Nice staff. clean. no noise. warm.bar.resturant.nice selection at breakfast. easy walk to town centre. parking , first come basis _______________________________________________ bad points depending what room you have the stairs might be a problem for some less mobile people but there are chair lifts and lifts to aid . the chicken patè was not a paste and a bit basic dish.. _______________________________________________ some decent places to eat in town but read the reviews before going. the eat Indian I wanted to try but got put off by the reviews but I will go next time. booths have a huge range of local beers . stunning display. kendal is a nice place to have a relaxing few days and even use as a base . _______________________________________________

Great location right on the river. Rooms are a decent size with large beds but are slightly outdated missing upgrades like chargers next to the beds. Staff were hit and miss some were amazing some were less welcoming.

I stayed at the Riverside in Kendal while visiting a colleague/friend who relocated back to England some years ago. I loved the trip to Cumbria (by train) and found my stay at the Riverside to be most enjoyable, which was an unexpected bonus. Very comfortable room, clean and good bedding and towels, bathroom amenities. The breakfast was very decent and the Chef made me good basic hot porridge upon request, which was great. Plus, the breakfast room overlooks the River Kent, which is truly a beautiful river. Most of all, the Reception and general hotel staff were excellent. For me, it still is about the 'human touch and experience' at accommodations when traveling. Yes, I love IT and technology, but nothing replaces the professionalism, helpfulness and kindness of good staff. I'd love to visit Cumbria again, Kendal included, and I'd love to stay at the Riverside again.

First time stopping. Was for Girl friends birthday. Pleasant stay. Had tea here Saturday night after arriving. There are other restaurants and pubs nearby, about 15 min walk. Food and service were good. The table could have been wiped before eating. Ask for a riverside view when booking as this shows by my pictures. The breakfast rm has great views over looking the river. There is outside eating, assuming this will be in the summertime. We stayed in rm 109, which was good. Warning: Water can get hot. Car parking facilities were great. Arrive in good time for a parking space. There is a gym and swimming pool on site, didn't use as only here for 1 night. Would I stay again possibly yes. Great location into town centre. 10 min walk away. Kendal Castle is 15 min walk.

Room was nice enough, clean if a little dated (the shower head looked manky and needs changing), nice big comfy bed and pillows, for the price point a wee fridge would have been handy. The staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was lovely and great choice. Great location for exploring the town.

Having recently stayed for five nights at the Riverside Hotel Kendal, I can confidently say it was an experience that surpassed all my expectations. Every meal was an absolute delight, freshly prepared and never once a disappointment. The steak and ale pie stood out particularly, full of rich, hearty flavours. It was a joy to discover that they graciously accepted our Tastecard every night, allowing us to indulge in 2-4-1 meals - a generous gesture that truly enhanced our dining experience. The rooms were exceptional, spacious and immaculately maintained, offering a perfect retreat after our daily outings. The thoughtful touches of plenty of biscuits and tea bags added to the homely and warm atmosphere. But the Riverside Hotel is more than just its food and rooms. The spa room was a highlight of our stay. We had the pleasure of enjoying the hot tub, jacuzzi, and swimming pool, which provided us with a wonderful relaxation experience. The true gem of Riverside Hotel, though, is Henry, the bar manager. His charisma and upbeat personality created a palpable positive vibe throughout the hotel. An Elvis fan at heart, his lively energy was reminiscent of the King himself, bringing an extra sparkle to our stay. While it's sad to hear that he'll be leaving the hotel, he undoubtedly leaves behind a legacy of great customer service and unforgettable memories. If you're considering a stay in Kendal, I wholeheartedly recommend the Riverside Hotel. It's not just a hotel, it's a complete experience - great food, superb rooms, a fabulous spa, and the most welcoming staff. Don't miss out on the opportunity to create your own memories here!!

Apparently this hotel is ranked as a 3 star? Stay here for a night and it's like living in luxury. Rooms look out onto the river. Had a drink or 2 on the verandah overlooking the river with the added bonus of heating overhead. ALL staff were extremely helpful and courteous. Complementary gym (within hotel) for residents. This hotel is well worth another visit. So summing up this hotel should have a ranking of 5 stars.

Excellent atmosphere, beautiful breakfast restaurant with the most amazing calming views. Close proximity to all hiking paths and additional welcoming touches in the rooms which have made all the difference after being caught out in a torrential rain. The only place we didn't like was the pool and jacuzzi. They were not new and not very inviting

Good location on the river and close to town. Lovely place to spend time with friends. My one complaint is that we ate in the restaurant which was nice but had a limited menu and, in my opinion, was expensive for what we were served. We were the only guests in the restaurant and it was it was a little on the chilly side so missing some atmosphere. Staff were lovely, friendly and helpful. Breakfast seemed expensive at £12pp but turned out to be good value.

I accidentally left my handbag at the bar beginning of this week. The waiters who work there very kindly put it safely in their office. I cannot thank them enough for such amazing responsibility & trust I have put into them, even though it was an accident to leave it there. I am so very happy with them. I know they are fabulous people who work there also. A great team in a beautiful town. Thank you so very much.

Made a group booking for four rooms and they very kindly got our rooms next to each other. The staff were super friendly and extremely dog friendly. The hotel was comfy and clean. Couldn’t ask for nicer dog friendly base for our stay Kendal and will certainly stay again in the future. I left my earrings in a bedside table and they were handed to reception by the cleaning staff and they kindly offered to post them back. Thanks for a great few days!
