I et here for the first time last night was my Uncle Stan's 75th birthday, tho always thought you "The Griffin" pub in passing , which one bar is the pub and the other the restaurant. I must admit you've got me hooked on lassi, I had the Gurkha chilli prawns as a starter, WOW HOT HOT HOT , I was on fire !!! Good job the fire station isn't far away, I needed to be hosed down by some hot firemen!!! but hey I loved the prawns. Felt I was going dowm with a cold/flu virus, I think everyone at work has had it apart from me so far, maybe the chilli blew my cold away. I ordered the Gurkha chiken lekali as my main, my only complaint was I thought it was hot according to the menu (I wanted hot to blow this cold away, before it got a grip), however I found the lekali was mild, that would be my only complaint!!!
Amazing food with lots to choose from. Starters really good. Wonderful staff. Unfortunately never have room for dessert. Love this place!
I just love it their . The food is the best . So tasty .and full of flavour . The service is brilliant . Would never go anywhere else . I truly recommend it . My mouth waters at just saying the name . Last week went twice . Staff are fab to and so friendly . The owner and his wife are just the best host xx
Second visit and my opinion has not changed. It’s still the best place to eat in the Bedford area. Great service, amazing food and such good value.

If you love Indian food this place is a must . Great food , great service and great prices . What more can you ask for .
We had the best meal here yesterday . The chilli Chicken was spicy just as we like it, keema Punjabi, lamb rogan josh, palak paneer, DR mixed grill was delicious and the Chilli & Garlic Naan was delicious too. Excellent Service All in all a fab night . Thanks & see you again soon :-)
The menu here is delightfully different so the standard offerings we have become used to from many of our. Curry establishments. We had a great meal that was very tasty without being overpowered by chilli. Service was very good from all the multicultural staff, attentive without being rushed. We strongly recommend it and the four of us will most definitely return to sample more of the Nepalese dishes.
We came here last night as a group of 6 on our 1st visit after reading the reviews .I must say it's the best food I have had in an Indian restaurant and I know our group was of the same opinion..Everything from the service we got,the food we ordered and the bill for what we had surprised us all as the portions were more than generous. We have all decided we will return very soon.Keep up the great service guys
Delicious meal this evening! Cannot fault the food it was exceptional cannot wait to recommend to all of my friends and return again on Sunday!!! Exceptional food & service amazing
Stunning delicious food and beautiful presentation. Fantastic restaurant and very friendly helpful staff. I recommend that you taste the wonderful flavours you won't be disappointed 10/10 from us
Amazing food and attentive friendly staff, reasonably priced. A must for spicy food lovers.
Amazing food! Great service, would definitely recommend :-)
Thought the food was outstanding. The staff were really helpful all evening and made us feel welcome. Will visit again. The only downside was the seating arrangements, it was very busy could of done with a better place to sit for 16 of us as one of the guests kept having to move or got bumped
Great food with friendly and helpful staff. Recommended as an alternative to the normal 'curry scene' experience.
As the name Diya Royal so their food Royal as well. Just delicious and so athletic taste of Asia. Each and every dish have unique taste not like other restaurants. Reasonable prices and not a bad location in Kempston Service was friendly and professional. You can enjoy drinks with food too because it’s a pub as well. Beautiful and relaxing atmosphere in dine area. We all friends had an amazing time and thinking to make it permanent every month. Highly recommended. They’ll never disappoint you.
Fantastic restaurant. Food was amazing.
Well cooked and full of flavour a great menu choice, if anything to much choice.
Very friendly staff.
Definitely will be returning.
We've never visited here before, but the food was delicious and the staff were very polite, friendly and nothing was too much🍽️ we both had starters and mains with drinks and it was reasonably priced and what you'd expect to pay. The atmosphere was lovely as was the decor and the music was not too loud. Would definitely recommend here to anyone🍽️
Had a lovely lunch here. The food was very tasty and the spice was perfect . Felt very fresh and nice.
We had a most wonderful meal last night at Diya Royal, still Kempston's one and only Nepalese restaurant. The service was quick, efficient and friendly, and the atmosphere in the restaurant is buzzing, complete with colorful and detailed decorations and Gurkha-themed memorabilia. As it is joined to The Griffin pub, the bar is stocked with all the beers, ciders, wines and spirits anyone could ever need - which also includes Cobra beer ON TAP. We decided on the Peregrino merlot from Chile, a full bodied red wine with plenty of dark fruit accents.
For starters, we had poppadoms (made fresh on site, of course), and I asked for the breaded salt and pepper king prawns, which came with seasoned diced vegetables, burnt garlic and garden-fresh green chillies. It was TO DIE FOR. The accompanying chutney dips for the poppadoms (mango, mint and onion) were also made and prepared on site.
For my main, I went for one of their house specials, the Gurkhali Khasi - a slow hundy cooked Nepalese lamb curry with frsh coriander and spring onions. The lamb was so tender it practically melted in the mouth. My accompanying mushroom rice (shock horror, wouldn't have seen that coming!) was also splendid, and not dripping with ghee as is sometimes the case. They aren't slouches when it comes to Indian food either, as my partner decided to play it slightly safe and went with the chicken tikka masala, which was smooth yet bursting with flavour. I'm advised that she'll be more adventurous next time though!
The prices are highly competitive, especially considering the portion sizes. The chocolates that came with the bill were milk chocolate mints, rather than dark chocolate mints. We were delighted with that, too!
You can bet that we'll be back again soon enough. There's a lot more to sample from that menu, it's practically a given that a second and third visit is required.
The food was amazing, would highly recommend if you're looking for something a little different to the usual curries you're used to. This is good quality Nepalese food...delicious. Will definitely be back.
I had never dined at Diya Royal before but had always wanted to give it a try after reading alot of positive reviews about the overall dining experience offered. When my friend suggested booking a table I jumped at the chance. Some people think Diya Royal is mainly Indian cuisine, this is not true, Diya Royal is Nepalese cuisine which is influenced by Tibetan, Indian, Chinese and other parts of Asia. We had a table booked for 8.30 and on our arrival we were given a warm and friendly welcome from all the staff and were seated promptly even though we were 10 minutes early. The restaurant was very busy and had a healthy, vibrant atmosphere which is always a good sign. We both ordered a starter, my friend ordered the
Nepalese style sweet and sour chilli chicken with peppers, the balance of chilli, sweet and sour flavours was perfect, which in my opinion was excellent and I highly recommend you try. I ordered the Fish Sunkoshi which was freshly marinated deep-fried crispy tilapia served with green chutney. The fish was cooked perfectly and the dish as a whole was full of flavour and tasted delicious, the green chutney really lifted the dish and gave it a freshness. For our main course we ordered the Nepalese special fried rice between us and the Piro lamb, which was Spicy Nepalese lamb tikka curry with fresh green chili, garlic coriander and mixed peppers. I ordered the Saag Jhinga, which was a freshly prepared tiger prawn curry with fresh baby spinach leaves – Gurkha style. This was accompanied with Paratha's, which I can only describe as a cross between puff pasty and a flatbread. I would have been happy just to have three or four Paratha's just to dunk into my curry sauce!!!! An amazing culinary experience with a great variety of Nepalese cuisine to choose from at a reasonable price. I will definitely be back for seconds.....and you should be too!!!!!
Had a work meal here first time here! Was lovely food and great service would 100% visit again! Right nextdoor to the pub aswell so all in all great visit!
My favorite place to go. Staff are always polite, helpful and respectful. If you've never been try it and ask for recommendations from the waiters. The place is always spotlessly clean. Easy parking. Would highly recommend to anyone
