I couldnt recomend this place more, what a fantasic venue and food. If you are looking for beautiful settings with yummy food and great service then this is your place to go, the BBQ we had was amazing and home made pastries with a cream tea in the afternoon really was all fantastic. They also do a very wide range of gluten free and vegan friendly menus so there really is something for everyone and plenty of space for the kids to run around outside.
Absolutely love The Halfway. Great food, innovative menu, good spot to have a drink (or several) and enjoy a really lovely meal. Really nice people and best of all - the best vegan, gluten free brownies I’ve ever tasted.

One of the Best Roast dinners I have ever had. We also asked if it was possible to have a dairy free birthday cake made for us as we had a vegan in our party. It was really yummy with not a single crumb left on anyone's plate. 5*

Brilliant. The owners are welcoming, friendly. The staff were friendly, happy and relaxed. I had a roast and it was one of the best ive had. Dessert was perfect, cocktails were amzing too. We sat outside and the view isnt bad either. Will definatly be going back. Brilliant.
First time at The Halfway and loved it! Lovely decor, great place for a function and the service was excellent! The menu choice was varied and interesting and we were not disappointed as the meal was delicious... will definantly be returning.
First time here and we loved it! The decor is perfect, our food was spot on and, even though we'd asked for a table before chefs came on duty, we were accommodated and made to feel very welcome. Would definitely recommend and will definitely be returning!

We hired the George for an event with friends and family and it was fantastic. A gastro pub atmosphere with delicious food and friendly and incredibly helpful staff. Thé garden area is beautiful and the space is really good and diverse. I can’t fault it. If you are considering for a wedding, birthday or event then don’t hesitate, you won’t be disappointed
Had a lovely family roast dinner this afternoon. Friendly staff and the service was very efficient, yet we were not at all rushed. It was a nice atmosphere. The food was really lovely, especially the roast beef - portion sizes good too. Will definitely come again!
A lovely evening celebrating the start of my new job. Superb service and super friendly staff. Worth noting they did a brilliant job of catering for all of our weird food intolerances and allergies! (lactose intolerance, tomato intolerance and someone who can’t have wheat!
Had a fantastic Sunday lunch here today. 5 adults and 3 children.
Service was good, staff very friendly, the children were looked after well with colouring pages and crayons and the food was excellent.

Had a wonderful meal here. The staff are very friendly and willing to accommodate to make sure you have enjoyed your stay. I had the Roast Chicken which tasted amazing, with pomme anna, honey glazed carrots, brussels and red cabbage. I will definitely go again as they rotate their menu, so I can try something new next time.
Easy booking online. On arrival greeted with a very warm welcome. A good varied menu, catering for all dietary requirements. Food was excellent , and reasonably priced along with very attentive service. Would thoroughly recommend.
After booking a table for my 40th birthday. Me and my partner went for date night. We were surprised by the quietness of the restaurant because all I can say is the food was beautiful, the interior gorgeous and the team could not have been more accommodating. Even coming and singing happy birthday to me, with a free cheesecake. Can't get better than that.

Following a recent visit at the request of Katie I have no option to amended the previous review (below) as the food was excellent.
Along with a new chef the menu has been completely overhauled to offer options you would expect to find.
On a personal note Katie is a real asset to the George an example to many other managers. Very impressed, highly recommend.
After reading the reviews I booked a table and looked forward to a great meal with my misses on Saturday evening…….However, despite the lovely location, setting and decor the restaurant was less than a quarter full (possibly the 1st red flag). The menu was limited but not always a bad thing, but the choices were very basic. I had the George burger which was really over cooked and hard. My partner had the ham, eggs and chips of which the eggs were a tad greasy but the ham had a fair bit of sinew. I did mention how over cooked my burger was to the waitress as I obviously couldn’t eat it all. She smiled politely and walked off, no apologies though. We paid and left just as politely.
Shame as with such basic food there’s no excuses.
One we will avoid and not be recommending. There’s far better places to eat.
Always a treat to eat at The George at Kelvedon. The venue and gardens are lovely and truly enhance the experience. The staff are very welcoming and efficient. The food is excellent, and have never been disappointed. My friend and I recently enjoyed the best afternoon tea we've ever tasted, very well proportioned between sweet and savoury, absolutely delicious. It was beautifully presented as with all their food. Very much looking forward to my next visit.

We recently held my Mum’s wake at The George at Kelvedon. The lead up to her funeral was such a stressful time but Katie at The George was so kind and helpful in helping us make arrangements. On the day itself the wake was perfect, the room lovely, clean and bright and the food was amazing. Nothing was too much trouble and the staff were all lovely. I would definitely recommend this pub and hope to be back again under happier circumstances.
My wife and I had visitors from Worcester and wanted to take them somewhere quiet for a leisurely evening meal so we chose the George. So glad that we did, the setting and atmosphere is relaxed and comfortable and yet nicely formal, not a normal gastropub type property but at the same time, not pretentious. We were greeted by pleasant, happy staff and settled at our table. The seating was comfortable with plenty of space between the tables and tables of a decent size. The menu had a nice selection of dishes to meet most palates and diets and very reasonably priced. We all thoroughly enjoyed our food and were pleasantly surprised at the final bill. Service was excellent, food fabulous, location brilliant! We have already recommended the place to family and look forward to returning soon.
What a beautiful restaurant. Our first meal out since restrictions lifted and I am SO glad we came here. Before our meal we enjoyed a drink outside, taking in the gorgeous natural surroundings. Inside, the restaurant was spotless. Beautifully laid out with plenty of space in between tables. The waiting staff are amazing; incredibly attentive. The food was simply outstanding! Great selection of mains and some really lovely sides too. My husband had the lamb, I had the stone bass, both were cooked to perfection. Desserts didn't disappoint either! Very much looking forward to visiting again.
Had a very enjoyable evening meal there last week. They've managed to get the social distancing right, with several tables outside under a sheltered gazebo with clear plastic sides. This meant you could enjoy the sunshine, but without being exposed to the wind.
Food was good, service was excellent, had a really nice time. Difficult times for pubs and restaurants but I'm happy to say that they've got things right. Nice job!

The George was a great experience. Very clean tidy staff very friendly and couldn’t do enough for us. Food was great I had the Steak and was cooked perfectly. One of the things I really loved was they where serving cocktails that where made beautifully. I will be going back definitely worth a try. Thank you to The George for a great dinner experience definitely deserve 5 Stars.
Had an absolutely lovely lunch at this great restaurant. Recently refurbished and under new management, the restaurant is a real find. Everything felt really relaxed with friendly, personal and attentive service. The food was exceptional and delicious. Was so hard to choose from the menu. Congratulations to Joey and the team. I can't wait for my next visit, hopefully for dinner next time where I can sample the rest of the menu.
