A small, rustic shed that has been beautifully, yet simply transformed to provide the best cafe experience I've ever had. The menu is concise, but you can really tell that it's all properly home made to exquisite quality. The soup and cake were to die for and the view of the seals playing on the beach was magical. A proper treat. A visit is an absolute must!
Two fabulous meals. Curry on Saturday evening and the best ever Fish and chips on Wednesday. Cakes to die for. Fantastic wee cafe where you get a very friendly welcome by the cook, waitress ,washer upper all in one. Thank you
I am almost lost for words to describe how nice this place is. I'm going to do my best, but still don't think I could do it justice. The only way to see how nice the food is, and how good the dining experience is here, is to travel to Knoydart and try it yourself!
The cafe is in a converted barn and is quirky without even trying! Veronica who runs the cafe is a lovely person and fantastic host. We went for fish and chips on a Wednesday evening and Curry on Friday night. There was my Husband and I, and our 2 Sons aged 4 and 7. There was nothing left on our plates at the end of the meal. Our boys don't really eat curry at home. The fact they said it was 'amazing' is a real testament to Veronica's cooking. I have also never seen them eat fish and chips so fast and whilst they were eating them, and for days after they kept talking about 'how delicious' they were.
The food was cooked fresh to order right in front of us, and served immediately to the table. We also indulged in some of the lovely homemade cakes and yummy hot chocolate that was available.
The cafe has 2 large tables and seats around 20 people. There were others there when we were, and it felt like one big family sat around and talking to each other and about the magic of Knoydart.
Of special mention too are the seals, which can be seen in the bay just outside the cafe and provided much viewing pleasure whilst we were there. Also, if the sky is clear, the views as you drive/walk to Airor are breathtaking.
I honestly cannot recommend this place enough and whole heartedly intend to return as soon as we can.
Visited here on Sunday with our family. A truly wonderful place, views amazing and food was absolutely delicious. Veronika was so lovely and made us so welcome. I had the vegetable tart and salad, beautiful. If you get the chance definitely worth a visit. Thank you Cara for recommending it to us x
Excellent fish and chips evening, sparklingly fresh fish, superb batter, lovely chips, all beautifully cooked, (on a generator, miles from nearest electricity which is off grid in itself), great service and ambience. You'd say 'well done for having a go' at providing food so out of the way, but this is food and service which could hold its own and excel mainstream, no compromise on quality.
We cycled to and from the cafe in glorious sunshine - totally worth the effort. A characterful building in a beautiful location with amazing food, cooked by a very lovely lady - what is not to love

Lovely place, lovely food, lovely hostess. Welcoming and unpretentious.
What a fantastic and unique place! If you crave a cosy, remote oasis, in a spectacular setting, that serves delicious food, cakes, tea and coffee, with a friendly host, then look no further.

Roads End Cafe is a lifesaver at this time of the year, we were on the NC500 and fancied a bite to eat when we got to John o Groats. It is such a basic cafe but still serves hot toasties/sandwiches, soup and small cakes/scones. The lady that served us was lovely, so welcoming and willing to go the extra mile, she even recommended the haggis and cheese toastie which I couldn't turn down.
Since it was so quiet, it was takeaway only but she let us sit in due to the gale force winds outside. I have to say the toasties are the best I have had in a while and not even that expensive despite the location, absolutely fantastic. It is a little gem if you're looking for something eat when you reach the most northernly point in Scotland!
I got told loads before coming to John O'Groats that it was boring, nothing to do and not that interesting... Pish! Absolute nonsense! They obviously weren't served by Rosie at the Roads End Coffee shop and they obviously didn't have their £3.50 breakfast cooked to perfection or an amazing fruit scone. If I didn't live 300 miles away I think I'd be a regular. Thanks for the service 😁
We popped in to this quaint little cafe at the beginning of November, the lady was very friendly & very accommodating (we were the large party of 8)!
Delicious soups and sandwiches!!
My niece, especially enjoyed her rocky road chocolate bar!
Highly recommend!
We were desperately seeking sustanance, and the world's end, clinging to the two apples in our care. Out of the fog came into view, this glorious establishment, and their oft under reported Lentil Soup. Grateful to see, Roads End. You, our saviors be.
After a cold and windy day of travelling we were so pleased to be so warmly welcomed by the lovely lady at this cafe (I believe her name was Bea?) and delicious hot breakfast. I cannot say enough good things about the service and hospitality of the people both in the shop and in the cafe. Brightened a cloudy day and gave us some tips for our travels. Thanks to Elaine for the tablet recipe too! 😊
Only had a coffee last week but it was a great coffee (latte) and hot and a proper mug ☕👍
Shout out to the Cabin at John o Groats. Great coffee and sausage bap first thing in the morning and a few Milkyway chocolate bar!
