Seafood platter was enormous, so much food we could not eat it all. Absolutely superb and came with a free bottle of wine. Worth every penny.

Our first evening in Shanklin we ate here, the food and service was great. 2nd time we went in for drinks (yesterday), and we knew it'd be busy for Saturday night but we was told we can go upstairs and grab a table there. When we got upstairs however we were told that seating was for eating only. This was a disappointing and embarrassing experience for us so we left back for our hotel instead.

A friendly pub with great food. Service very effective. They do return and ask if your food is good throughout the experience. Very polite staff, clean toilets. Disability friendly entrance to the side and a well presented garden to eat in. Parking within 3min walk from the pub charges apply. Good music but not to loud to interrupt talking to your friends. Kids and dogs welcome Food all looked very appealing we had the mixed share seafood platter. More than enough for two.

Highly recommend the celery and walnut soup, chili salmon, pesto cod (special), and Baileys dessert! Very friendly staff, wonderful atmosphere, and great live music on a Friday night.

Nice traditional British pub in the heart of Shanklin’s old village. They’re is a nice outdoor seating area at the back of the venue. The indoor tables are almost always booked. Reserve in advance if you can. The food was pretty good. The pork ribs and the crab and lobster soups were really good. The service was a bit slow. But the staff was really polite and accommodating.

Very Nice Pub We used it for two meals during or stay in Shanklin (Evening meal and Sunday Lunch) both were excellent with big portions at very reasonable prices. On our last day we retuned for an evening drink and were recognised by the staff showing how friendly the ambiance was. Would recommend it if you want an old fashion pub with good beer and food.

My first dinner from 2 days I spend on Island! I HAD NOT Booked... mostly tables were taken... I'm glad they could squeeze me in... a great seat by the window... very pleasant time here the food was amazing and filing. Not many options on Shaklin... so you might consider to book a tabla especially if you are a group...

This place is so pretty. All the light fixtures are Tiffany. There's some lovely ales and spirits on and the food seems really nice. The little old village of Shanklin is a beautiful area, close tomthe downs and the coastal town of Ventnor. Only slight criticism would be that there's not a lot of choice on the menu for vegans, though everything else about the place is delightful, staff are great also.

The Village Inn in Old Shanklin is a traditional old pub with delicious pub food. Staff were welcoming, and the live music was fantastic. Highly recommended. Not a setting for children.

August 2021. An exceptional pub/restaurant, all the staff were so pleasingly attentive, nothing was too much trouble. It was very busy as it was fully booked. Table service only created a great atmosphere in the building. We didn't have to wait long for our food, which arrived, full of flavour and hot. I cannot recommend The Village Inn highly enough..

Huge portion of fish and chips! Can't fault them there. It was cooked to perfection. They were able to seat us without a reservation as we were turned away by the place opposite. The vibe is very much old-skool country pub, which I really liked. Walls painted in British racing green with Tiffany style lamps. Original beamed ceilings. Parking in the nearby carpark is free after 6pm.

Just had the roast beef Sunday dinner. Would highly recommend but don't have too much to eat for breakfast as it is very filling. Sausage meat stuffing and the flash fried veg shavings a nic touch.

First pub in Shanklin we went in to that had any atmosphere. The others were either old man pubs or really just family restaurants. Great chatty service, three real ales on taps, food coming out looked good but we had already eaten. Only pub I can see is going back to in Shanklin.
