What a lovely place. Was unsure after finding it online but when I arrived there was a warm welcome. The meals are amazing I can recommend the fish and chips it hardly fitted on the plate! Thanks to Katie for a great stay would definitely recommend this hotel
We had two family meals here while staying in a Wigwam at the nearby "Croft Bunkhouse". The food is excellent .......roast dinners recommended as well as the steak pie...also the scollops and black pudding and the sticky toffee pudding is HUGE and to die for !!!! Many thanks to the friendly bar staff and waitress - We will be back ! :)
Thanks Katie and Johnny for the fabulous meal and for coping with our large family. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed it and are keen to return to TA! x
Such a wonderful little hotel!! The hosts and owners are so lovely and nice and it has such a quaint, homey, and comfortable atmosphere. The food is fantastic as well, you cannot skip a visit to their own in-house bar, Munro's either!!! I can't say enough wonderful things and that only I was so sad to leave and cannot wait to come back!!! Oh and who doesn't love a long haired Doxen?!? Fritz is the cutest!!!!!
Our hostess brought milk to us after we checked in (late at night too!) because we looked weary and tired from traveling all day. We had two beautiful breakfasts complete with whiskey in our porridge if we wished. (I did and it was delicious.) I had a baked sea bass for dinner and fresh, beautifully and deliciously prepared fresh vegetables to go with the meal. All in all, it was a beautiful place to stay and we had a wonderful time hiking the destinations our hostess suggested. The beds were comfortable; the rooms were clean and nice and the showers were hot. But the hostess was the best part of the stay as she went out of her way to see that we were comfortable.
Absolutely loved our too short stay at the Taigh Ailean Hotel - wonderful location, food and hosts.... Really can't wait to go back...
Katie is a babe, pub quiz was epic. Sticky toffee pub stuff of dreams.
I can't say enough great things about this wonderful place. Katie, Johnny, Ian and Fritz make this a home away from home. My husband and I came here to celebrate our 15th wedding anniversary and I managed to surprise him with a vow renewal/hand fasting ceremony on nearby Fiscavaig Beach. Katie's help and suggestions were invaluable to me in the months leading up to the trip and I am forever greatful to her for making our stay there so memorable. Our room was immaculately and tastefully decorated and there were such sweet personal touches like little hearts on the bed. The whole staff is dedicated to a high level a professional and compassionate treatment of their guest that shows in every interaction.
You guys stole our hearts!!! We will be back one day.
Enjoyed a fantasist meal, and perfect highland hospitality today in this beautifully situated hotel. Highly recommended food, exceptional local beer and most welcoming of hosts.
We had a lovely meal last night to celebrate our anniversary the food was really good as always! Thank you so much for the added extras on our table and the beautiful card, so unexpected I sampled 3 more gins and will continue to work my way through your extensive range slowly but surely. Thank you Katie and Johnny for a lovely evening x
We didn't eat or sleep. We had a drink, we just arrived. But lovely people, such a nice bar!
We'll come back to eat...
Hosts Katie and Jonny were wonderful. From arrival to departure, they made us feel at home. Katie felt like a friend by the time we left - and we were unfortunately only there for 2 nights! Jonny was in charge of the in-house kitchen, preparing delicious food in the small pub upstairs.
Our room was very comfortable, and had a great, updated bathroom. The guest lounge was very inviting, and offered cable tv, DVDs, and a large selection of books and games.
It is difficult to be "central" on Skye, but the hotel's location was ideal for us, being very close to the Fairy Pools and hikes around the Cuillin Hills.
A wonderful stay, with a very reasonable price - and a full, delicious breakfast included. Highly recommended, and we look forward to returning again.
We were warmly welcomed and thoroughly enjoyed two evenings & meals at this great pub while staying at a B&B across the hill. When we remarked that one more evening would make us regulars, our lovely barman remarked that one more visit would in fact make us locals! That sums up our experience - welcoming place that feels like home and not to mention wonderful food. Hope to return one day.
Hospitality first class, we were made very welcome, and food was fantastic. Couldn't have wished for a better place to celebrate my birthday, my grumpy friend was even made welcome (see photo).
We went here the first night we arrived on the island as it was nearby and we weren’t disappointed. The food is cooked fresh, comes in generous portions and tastes amazing. The bar itself has a warm, cozy feel to it with a wood burner in the corner and various decorations on the walls adding to the atmosphere. The staff are very friendly and were happy to talk away with us. We enjoyed it so much we decided to go here on our last night too. A must visit!
Incredible food and location, staff were friendly and attentive. Great to sample veggie haggis for the first time, was so delicious. Would love to visit again.
Cosy little place and very popular. Can't fault the food. Tasted fab and fresh. Good-sized portions and reasonably priced compared with other places on the island. Great selection of whiskies and local ales too. Staff and locals were very welcoming and sociable. Had a nice chat and drink with everyone after the meal which rounded the night off perfectly. Will definitely go back the next time we are in Skye.
We had a wonderful dining experience. The mussels were probably the best we’ve ever had (and generously portioned as you can see). Every other dish was superb as well. The staff was friendly and attentive to every need. Definitely hope to come back whenever we return to Skye!
Wow. I can't recxomwnd this place highly enough. The staff are so friendly and welcoming. The food blew all expectations out of the water. The steak and ale pie is the best pie I have ever eaten. My husband raved about the fish and chips too, and the home made tartar. (He wouldn't usually eat tartar but this was out of this world.) Wow. We'll be back again. Views are breathtaking. The beer is great and if you like a spirit, it is a very well stocked bar. Thank you for an amazing evening!
I don't leave reviews very often, but this restaurant deserve it very much to be highlighted for their wonderful and delicious food and attentive and professional customer service.
We eat Munros two nights in a row and left extremely satisfied.
We cannot recommend the restaurant highly enough.
Special thanks to Mari (Marie?). Lovely and very kind person. :)
Simply wonderful. From the greeting at arrival to the wonderful service this was a great evening out. The menu and food were superb and the personal service was perfect. We loved it and are already planning our next visit.
Had a very nice dinner. Tasty food, cozy place, friendly staff, decent prices. Definitely on the list of places to go to the next time we visit Skye.
Lovely little spot with excellent local cuisine
First time on the Isle of Skye, glad we had a chance to pop in. Amazing service, happy chatty people, Katie and Luke made is feel like locals. Food portions so big we never had a chance to try their amazing desert 😭. Definitely will be back.
