We found ourselves in the Isle of Portland on the day of our 10th Anniversary, on our way back to the South East from Devon. After a long drive, a trip to the Lighthouse and a walk around the castle, we were craving a drink and a bit of food. We walked into the Boat That Rocks and loved our experience. Despite some of the negative reviews, I loved their 10 oz burger. The wife loved their Chilli con Carne. The staff were extremely warm. Checked on us a couple of times if everything was alright and looking after us despite of a very big and busy table right behind us. Thanks for helping us finish our holiday on a high.
Arrived with no reservation for food and managed to get a table. Food was delicious. The kids polished their plates which never usually happens lol. Great location on the marina. Fantastic options for food and drink. Plenty of seating in and outside. Would recommend eating here.
A little slow on service (they had a party of 45!!), but the food and drinks were incredible! It was such a shame I couldn't finish it - maybe a little too big on portions?
I recommend booking in advance if you plan to visit, they're really popular!
Today I visited The Boat That Rocks for the 2nd time.
Nice place, nice and clean, friendly staff.
This time I had the Fish and Chips.
Good meal, service wasn’t as good as last time.
Looking forward to visiting here again.
Great little find. Lovely restaurant and staff with a stunning view of the marina! Generous portions and delicious food! Lots of outside tables and spaces to park. They were happy to alter my dish too from mushy peas to a yummy salad!
Good food, decent prices, friendly staff, clean and quiet with good disabled access, will happily revisit next time in the area.
Excellent! Great food and first rate service.
The food was way better than expected! We had mussels for starter (the portion was so large I could have eaten that as a main), seafood linguine and sirloin steak for mains. The chunky fries could have been better, but overall it was a delicious dinner.
Lovely , clean place. Dogs welcome inside. Food looked great (I didnt eat) staff very welcoming
My second favourite place on Portland. Beautiful food. Friendly staff and great live bands.
For an out-of-the-way cafe with lovely views they have a surprisingly wide ranging menu. 8 of us ate in and there were no complaints from anyone. They did get my drinks order wrong though but it was quickly remedied.
Loved this place and went there twice in just 3 days. Would highly recommend but do book ahead if you can to avoid disappointment xx
Excellent location on the marina. Great outdoor seating and great food. Was not crowded. They are offering table service at the moment. Will surely go again, weather permitting.
Yummy vegan fish and chips. Highly recommend. Also a beautiful view over the harbour.
Great atmosphere and the food was excellent. Could have had slightly smaller portions and made prices a bit cheaper as a little pricey. Cant complain about the food though all very lovely. The service was a bit hit and miss after meal was served we had to ask about desert it wasn't offered and had to flag people down for additional drinks. Still had a lovely time with friends.
Myself and my wife went yesterday. Corona beer on tap which is a rare find especially if you are from London so 5* for that. We sat outside to have our drinks watching all the coming and goings of the divers and marine folk. Ate inside, ordered calamari to share and the portion was big and tasted fresh. Then had cod and chips each which was big big and really fresh. In hindsight we could of shared the cod and chips as neither of us got much past the cod. Service was good and staff genuinely friendly and helpful. A much enjoyed visit.
