My husband and I both had a medium roast the meat just melted in your mouth and all of the vegetables were done exactly how we like them would highly recommend it
We stayed at the Mermaid Hotel for 3 weeks...coming to Ipswich from Western Australia. for a Family Reunion after 29 years.We couldnt fault the service we received. Everybody was so helpful and friendly, the carvery was excellent value for money..and breakfast was included in our cost of the room..The only complaint we had was that there was no slip mat in the bath,so we had to buy one...We will be returning again same time next year.Would highly recommend this hotel .

Very pleasantly surprised we had an overnight stay, our room was clean and comfortable the staff friendly and helpful.
We had a birthday party in the pub we were a party of sixteen eight being young children the service and quality of the food was excellent the young friendly staff made it a party to remember we look forward to our next visit.
Had a great time at the mermaid. The staff was l very Friendly! Absolutely immaculate throughout! The pub next door was scrummy! With a excellent choice from the menu. I would recommend this hotel and pub/restaurant 100% and would return on my next visit to Ipswich.. 😃😃
Stayed here last night. The room was spacious, clean and comfortable. Tea, coffee and biscuits in the room, also hairdryer, TV and free wifi. No complaints whatsoever. Lovely breakfast included. Staff friendly and helpful. I would highly recommend.
A lovely meal I had a carvery very fresh hot and tasty excellent value my husband and don had the burgers which were also delicious the young lady serving our table told me to go and get carvery just before the other meals arrived so we all ate together which was nice great service great food looking forward to returning thank you to all the staff highly recommend a visit
I can't recommend this place enough. Excellent value for money. Room was nice clean and tidy. Air conditioning on too. We were there for Elton John concert at Portman road, about 10 min walk. Breakfast was great too included in the price. I wouldn't hesitate to book again.
We stayed in a family room x2 adults x2 children & couldn't fault the room. Nicely decorated, spacious & clean/tidy

The room was a decent size, clean and comfortable and was overall good value for the price.
The only issue we had was the noise levels as you could hear everything which led to a restless night. Other guests were constantly in and out of the main door which slammed loudly as well as emitting a loud beeping alarm. This went on late into the night.
The pub was ok but I would say the food was overpriced for the quality level.
The location was good, easy to get to and close to local amenities.
Top tip! This hotel sites to the side of the mermaid pub, but you need to go into the pub for the reception first.
The hotel is clearly very modern and pretty new looking.
Rooms are clean, modern, and are a good size.
The bathroom was a good size too, with a bath. It had a powerful shower, which was nice.
Good size tv to watch in bed.
The room was really nice and dark, so great for sleeping, and I found it very peaceful.
The only two downsides I found were the loo roll holder was broken and hadn't been replaced (but really not an issue), and it was a good 25-minute walk into town, but I think it was a really good hotel.
The room was clean and spacious. I was on my own but even with a second person there was more than enough space. Everything was clean, the bed was comfortable. Checking in was easy, facilities were great and the breakfast was as described. It was a lovely night
As a small band of like-minded people - The Mermaid was always our regular go-to local meeting place before 'Covid' - the staff were friendly and the food good! We are now back - but why did we leave it so long! Different staff, but the friendly nature continues and still the same high quality food (although the portions sizes have diminished) Note - best to only use carvery during main meal times.
We stayed here for 5 nights. We found everything above any other hotel we have stayed in. The room was lovely. The staff are really nice and pleasant. Nothing too much trouble. The food is absolutely great. Alot of it. Nice and hot. Fresh. Liam and his team are very welcoming. If there was anything we needed, it was a set of drawers to put garments in. We don.t like living out of a suitcase. Perhaps that can be added to the rooms. But that is the only thing we found that we missed and felt we needed.
Great food was happy with it .. felt very welcoming and comfortable into the pub.. Jay was brilliant always kept coming back and making sure all was alright and if needed anything else. All was a good laugh
Check inn didn't go as wished. Also our dinner for Christmas evening was not arranged. We had to fill in twice a form - in the morning at breakfast and in the afternoon when we came to pay for the dinner, it still was notbooked in the system.
Cleaning of the rooms was perfect. Also the the and coffee refill with biscuits. Nice lady
Group booking for dining of 15 people. Service was excellent as was the food. Nice clean venue with a great atmosphere. Clean pleasant well presented staff. Very impressed.

Was REALLY ANNOYED that the pub was closed at 10:30 Sunday night despite the opening hours on Google stating an 11pm closure! Would have had a drink in the town rather than walking back to the Mermaid if I had known!!!! The only thing that let down a good stay.
Walking distance from Ipswich Station and easy to locate. There is Lidl and Sainsbury's nearby. Online check in and check out is available which is super convenient.
The room was absolutely sparkling. Clean, cozy and spacious with necessary items. Towels, hair dryer, shampoo/body wash and hand wash available.
Had a mixed grill, which was perfect if you love your meat, then I definitely recommend it. Check it out its a very nice place to have a meal.
Lady who checked us in was so helpful especially when we couldn't turn the air conditioning off and the room was so cold. My husband has been very poorly and he really feels the cold, we eventually were moved to another room. The staff were very attentive snd offered to move our bags etc for us.
Nice new looking hotel. Check in a little confusing as you have to go to the pub opposite and it's at the end of the bar. Person working seemed very stressed checking people in and struggled to find booking details. Overall hotel was great. On par with my more expensive places and had air con! Downside we were not informed workman were changing all the locks in the morning. Was awoken to noises of drills in hallway. They changed every single lock on all the bedroom doors which is both thorough and also a littke concerning. If we're in the area wouldn't hesitate to stay again. Didn't eat at the pub so can't comment on food / atmosphere..

The hotel went above my expectations, and the staff was courteous, the room was clean, and the environment was calm.
It's a place for solo travelers, couples, or family. A must-visit in Ipswich, also Sainsbury is close to the property.
Room clean, tidy and comfortable.
Breakfast good - could do with more choice on the continental side (yoghurts etc.)
Staff friendly and helpful.
Evening meal not very good - 3 out of 7 meals not up to standard - steaks tough / jacket potatoes stone cold.
