Now before you read further, this is my daughters bar, but here is what I genuinely think. The place has a great ambience, and a large selection of craft beers, but sadly no John Smiths. She has the best pork scratchings I've ever had behind the bar and locally sourced. I really recommend you ask Georgina for one of her Espresso martini's, they are awesome. The food I had was very, very good, with some interesting twists, and the Scotched duck egg is unbelievable.... just try it. The food was superbly presented, and whilst not the cheapest, definitely worth the still reasonable price.

Great place, great food, great company. Love what you've done with the place and really enjoyed the choices on the menu. I like the fact that you can return and there will be different options and themes on a regular basis.

absolutely love this place .. have been alone, with friends, and with family many times ... the decor has been given a lot of thought and looks stunning ... quirky and industrial feel to it ... dont forget to check the large upstairs room which really showcases this style ... great for groups or parties or to have a quiet area to chat away from the bar .... food is very satisfying ... the roast is hearty and generous ... and the menu has many interesting options ... the pies are great ... and there are vegetarian options which I loved also .... service is unhurried and extremely friendly ... if you have not discovered this gem, you are in for a treat ... highly recommended

Georgie arranged for us to meet here after my mother in law's funeral. The room was perfect, the food amazing and the staff made everything so warm and cosy and perfect. Couldn't recommend it enough.

Had a Sunday roast there with a few friends. Fantastic value, large portion and good quality. They didn't skimp on either the meat or the vegetables - very happy

Love it every time I go here, for tapas, Sunday roasts or just drinks. Today we only nipped in with the kids after a trip to the museum for chips and squash and they still impress me, the food is consistently good but the service (even for a quick visit like this) is warm and friendly. A lot of places could learn from the Arbor.

Such a beautifully thought out place with a real eye for detail, not only in decor but food and drinks also. I've visited twice so far and each time I have come away feeling refreshed and relaxed! Staff are very welcoming and I felt very comfortable whilst there. I highly recommend that you check out the room upstairs! Can't wait to return!

Went for supper the other evening - such a long time since eating here . Sat upstairs which was very cosy and the barman who was also our waiter was lovely and so attentive . Had the Adnams battered fish and chips which were delicious and my friend the Parmesan goujons . Definitely returning to try the different tapas style plates and the recommended Sunday lunch !

First time visiting here,Ipswich Town had played at home so a few supporters after the game which was fine. The 4 of us all had food & drink, very good food for the money. They put on a few specials just before we ordered and one was a lasagne to my wife's delight. She was really impressed,I had the New York Burger and that was really nice & homemade chunky chips. We all enjoyed the food and atmosphere and will definitely return.

Great local independent friendly pub with lovely staff and food, shout out to Morgan, Paul, Dan and team. We often eat here for lunch as dog friendly so great after walk in the park and also visits Saturday nights as have good live music. Fab burgers, amazing crunchy fish and chips. Reasonably priced drinks unlike some of the nearby pubs. If you haven’t been you defiantly should :-)

We dropped in at this place not knowing what to expect. We grabbed a table in the garden and got lucky with a nice breeze. We ordered the chicken burger and the beef burger. The chicken was crispy, juicy and robust in flavor. The burger was moist, succulent and cooked to perfection. The service was prompt and friendly. We enjoyed the casual atmosphere and especially the outside seating.

I have been here a lot, The About House is a wonderful pub/restaurant, the menu is pretty much what you would expect (good burgers, fish and chips etc) but the quality is outstanding and the execution exquisite. The Arbor House looks small, but there is plenty of space up stairs and in the small garden. In my view The Arbor House is a must do if you are in the area.

Really lovely dinner space, we came in and were served by two lovely bartenders. We sat upstairs which was really well decorated and had a great atmosphere. The food was amazing! They do not skimp on portion sizes at all and the food was delicious so we did not leave hungry! We had the double stacked burgers and I could not complain about anything.

Great out of town centre pub. Never empty but also not so busy you can't talk to your companion. Love this place.

Food was all excellent and generous portions (we tried several dishes preordered from the Christmas menu) and the upstairs room is very nice for dining. Very reasonable pricing. Would definitely go again. Only small area for improvement might be to provide a drinks menu and maybe a wine list (even if there are only 2 or 3 of each). Looking forward to our next visit.
