The Nelson - Ipswich - Photo album

A lovely, traditional pub just a stones throw away from the Ipswich waterfront. We ate here for Sunday lunch and the roast dinners on offer were fantastic; as a group we had both the meat and vegetarian options, all of which we'd happily recommend. As well as great food, the atmosphere is always gre
Called here last Sunday afternoon and received a warm welcome. The Ghost Ship was in good fettle but it is served via tap on a wood keg, not hand pulled, so you don't get a good head all the way down like we Northerners like! The chili beef nachos and Sunday roast pork dinner were very good indeed.
This has fast become my favourite place for a Sunday roast in Ipswich. Generous portions of meat and vegetables and usually a crumble of the day to finish. I generally have a red wine and my partner has a guiness. The guiness is good (apparently it varies from place to place but this gets the thumbs
Couldn't have been happier. In horrendous weather we turned up soaked and were sat in front of the fire, our dog couldn't have been happier! Fantastic food, decent value and very friendly staff :)
Cosy old low-ceiling pub with fires. Locals have cottoned-on to the great Sunday roasts here, and I recommend. Been here twice, and enjoyed both. Service was on par with a fully-fledged restaurant, and the roast was excellent.
Excellent locals pub near the dock area. Good limited menu.choice of ale's. Outside seating. Friendly staff.
The pub is better on the inside than it looks from the outside. Twickenham ales were really tasty. Comfortable setting and nice atmosphere.
Good quality food in a lovely we’ll behaved adult atmosphere. Fantastic gem of a pub. No negative thoughts. Had veggie roast dinner. Lovely and tasty. Staff are wonderful, very friendly and attentive. Adnams ale with plenty of choices. Will definitely be back.
Lovely traditional pub with real ale directly from the cask. Nice food. Not the cheapest but definitely worth it 😁
Great little pub right in town centre and only 10 meters from the marina. Great food and beer, the special is 3 ales for £9. During covid, lunch runs until 2, then opens back up for dinner. Need to order a meal with drinks while in Tier 2.
Traditional pub with good beer. Casks are racked behind the bar. Food menu is usual fare plus specials.
Cozy, warm & welcoming pub. The food was delicious & piping hot. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit
Great olde pub , good beer , great atmosphere ,fun place
Popped in on a trip to Ipswich. Great atmosphere, fine ales and great service.
Great pub with a good range of really well kept ales, definitely worth a visit.
Absolutely amazing Sunday roast lunch as always cooked by B, everything homemade, hot and plenty of food, all staff was very knowledgeable, had a fantastic time. Thank you to all the team.
Excellent service good atmosphere traditional 🍺 with lovely food what more can you ask for Many thanks 😊 🙏
This is a great food pub between Fore Street baths and the Record Office at the Hold. My only regret is that I wasn't well enough to eat more advenurously.
Started coming here regularly in 2023, at the atmosphere is warm and welcoming, so are the staff, and the food and drinks are both excellent.
