Very nice pub close to the Inverness rail and bus stations. No hubris whatsoever in accepting customers, even when busy, so great reception.
There is also a very broad range of dishes, which is surprising for a pub, plus there is live music almost every evening if that is what interest you.
Not cheap by any means but the quality and portions are right up there.
Lovely little place. Went in for a pint and a drink. Good local beers, even one with mango. Place is small, but quite alright when there's live music. It's okay to sit outside, still can hear the lice music playing. And I just loved the toilets! What a fun experience really 😅 hats off the the architect there man!
We had delicious, early dinner here before joining the whiskey tasting. They have a very nice outdoor area to enjoy a drink when the weather is nice. You need reservations for the whiskey tasting which takes place in a cozy little room in the basement. Bruce is proprietor and host, and you can tell that this is what he is born to do! He's a wonderful story teller, with a great tale, of the local history that goes beyond tartans and kilts. All while also educating you on the whiskeys you're trying. He's also one of the best fiddle players I've ever seen! We had a blast and recommend this to anyone visiting Inverness.
Great atmosphere, very kind and helpful team. Had a good recommendation for a tasty whisky, even I am not a big fan. Thanks to the team members! The fish & chips were delicious and the sticky toffee pudding a good start into the night. Definitely will come back during the next stay!
So, this is a incredibley impressive place here in Inverness. There are two sides to MacGregor's: 1- You reserve a table and be seated. We did this option, finished our meal and then went over to the pub side after! 2- The pub side, great atmosphere and a good selection of beverages. From thei own brewed beers, normal tap beers (Tennent's for me), and of course, a wide range of whiskeys and gin to pick from.
The food was outstanding! For starters, we had the haggis bhaji. I must say, I've tried a lot of Haggis (including the Witchery) and this is by far the best haggis that I have had. Next the Scotty Dog was amazing. The blend of sausage with the haggis was fantastic. The Samurai was also top notch! Lastly, the Sticky Toffee Pudding was unbelievable.
The staff was above and beyond. Destiny, you were fantastic! Our favorite server in Scotland! If you are in Inverness or planning to come, do yourself a favor, eat and drink here! I hope you find it as good as I did! Cheers!
Great experience, friendly staff. Do all your business of ordering food and drink at the bar, pay while your there and have a seat with your drinks. The staff will take care of the rest.
Enjoy their music or catch a pint when a football game is on. Woodstove was a great comfort on a cold day. Need a book for the fire? Check out the bookstore across the street.
We came there friday evening. Place was packed, but we managed to get a table.
They had live music with a good atmosphere.
I had mussels for starter. Portion was big and they were perfectly cooked and the broth was also full of good flavours.
The stake pie for main was also huge. The pie was really good and fresh. The meat was tender.
Our favorite bar that we went to in Scotland. Shelly, Mia and Frazier were excellent and since we were there on a Monday night we got to hear the owners fiddle and guitar band which was great. We sampled most of the menu and our favorites were the mussels and chicken wings. Can’t wait to go back next time we visit.
MacGregors is an absolutely top-notch experience when you're in Inverness. Reservations required, so make sure you get them in to enjoy this charming restaurant and bar!
Whiskies are top notch, amazing selection and super knowledgeable staff. Our bartender made a perfect selection of whiskies to pair not only with our meal but also with each other. Very much an underappreciated talent that makes any meal all the better!
Food- exemplary. The Cullen Skink was creamy and delicious with good flavors and ample smoked haddock flavor. The Steak and Ale Pie was amazingly decadent and the Pork and Irn Bru sausage was full of flavor.
Also highly recommended is their Highland Whisky tasting experience. You'll get a more personal take through nearby and local Highland whiskies, history, and some good music to boot!
The best mussels I’ve had in a long time!! Very large and juicy with a delicious winey, cream, garlic and parsley marinière. Service lovely and everything came very promptly. Would highly recommend!!
