Got turned down at two other restaurants because we didn’t have a reservation. River Grill took us in without any wait. The wait staff was helpful and the prices were fair. I had chicken pasta and it was good. My wife had spaghetti and she said it was delicious. It was a nice dinner.
I am SO glad I did not listen to the one-star reviews. The food was flavourful and huge portions, came out hot and quick, and were lovely. The waiters were kind and very helpful, and we were seated immediately. I would recommend it.
This restaurant is actually an Indian restaurant, not a grill one! All the staff from waiters to managers to kitchen staff they are all Indians. It was 9 pm but this place is still so busy, all staff are extremely busy, the managers are old grumpy grandpas and there is a lot of noises in kitchen and the waiters are running here and there, our waitress is kind and professional. About the food, we had soup and Fish and chips, it’s ok, fish is fresh, with some strange salad, no peas, also a bit overpriced, 15 GBP? Service and paying the bill is fast too.
It is great for a cafe and food was good but I wouldn't order the pizza again.
This restaurant was quite new when we went in and staff seemed very nice. The chicken salad was fresh and tasty, the haddock in the haddock and chips was nice and juicy and cooked just right, however the chips, were a bit hard and could've been cooked a bit longer.
The pizza wasn't great. It was mostly cheese with a very thin layer of tomato sauce so you can hardly taste it. The pizza I got was lamb meatballs and rocket. The meatballs were tasty and paired well with the rocket. The only bad thing is the fact that you couldn't taste any tomato taste.
Would recommend for a nice cafe!

The lasagne was so so hot. After it cooled it was delicious. Wine was lovely and good choices. Wait staff very helpful. The view out the window was amazing, right near the river.
Having read the previous reviews, this restaurant wasn’t our first choice, although the location is great, right by the river Ness and at the top of the City Centre. By the time we had returned from our walk to Carnac Point, most restaurants had stopped serving food. We walked in at 9:45PM on a Sunday night but we were still warmly welcomed (after being turned away by Zizzi’s across the road). We ordered a portion of Borek and a Mixed Grill Platter. The portion was generous, staff polite, the food quite good and we got the riverside window seat so overall a great evening spent. We didn’t have to go to bed hungry whilst on Holiday. Thanks River Grill.
Honestly, this place sucks.
It’s not a good sign when you go into a place not even that hungry, have an entree, main and a beer & still leave with the same level of hunger.
Prices were extreme for the portion sizes (like really extreme - when my entree came out I was like, ‘okay’ - not a good sign (4 small calamari rings on a plate - I believe that’s 9 pound if you purchase that entree solely by itself. If I’m paying that much for 4 small pieces of calamari I want to watch the chef catch that mf themselves and kill it in front of me).
I wish I had read the reviews prior to entering this establishment.
Fully recommend, 5 stars.
