Had an amazing time here last night. Originally planned to eat at the Wells but no table was available. On the Wells chefs recommendation we booked with monkmans and fell in love. The mushroom brioche to start and the ognet steak for my main. The best steak I have ever eaten in my life and the mushroom brioche was perfection. Amazing. Amazing. Amazing

Food was good. Table booked for 9. No one to deal with us on arrival. Presented with menus. Selected dishes, ordered drinks and then ordered to be told oh no..prix five menu has finished. No time availability shown anywhere. So had to chose again. Staff charming but appeared chaotic. I suppose I might visit again, after 25 years of working travelling in France I did not really expect any difference..but disappointing. Will I visit again.. maybe. Our hosts were apologetic! The Lady owner was unconcerned about her approach!

Had an absolutely delicious meal for our wedding anniversary. I had the most delicious Atlantic king prawns in garlic to start, followed by mouth watering chicken breast stuffed with goats cheese and pistachio wrapped in prosciutto . . . . 100% spot on! Service, as always, was great, ambience lovely, thank you for a great evening, we'll be back soon

Visiting the area and saw the reviews for this restaurant. It didn't disappoint!! The food and wine were really delicious, the welcome was warm. The restaurant feels very French, could have been in Paris! Can't recommend it enough.

Wonderful food, service, and atmosphere. Many fish specials not on the online sample menu. A la carte pricing comparable to e.g. Piccolino but Monkman's is in a completely different league. My new go-to special occasion restaurant (plus there's an excellent value set menu for less special occasions!). Book in advance.

An excellent restaurant using locally sourced food, all freshly cooked and served by staff who care and overseen by M. et Mme Monkland who really care for their staff, customers, suppliers and how the food is cooked and served. Do not bother going elsewhere in Ilkely, this is a five nights a week delight. Whilst they emphasise their excellent fish courses the meat supports the fish beautifully. We will recommend and try to get back as soon as we can.

Authentically French restaurant in Ilkley from food to wine. Flexible menus mean your wallet can flex from solo value thru to a more special evening out with special ones. Friendly and just right attentive staff.

If it's still like it was a year ago this is the most unlikely of incredibly authentic and tasty and wonderful French restaurants on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales that you could hope for!
