Just perfect! All staff very professional, all briefed on the menu & how dishes are cooked + the ingredients used. The staff also were aware we were there to celebrate a birthday! Even a card was presented, & messages passed on to us from our family in Australia.Superb :-choice,service,surroundings,staff,menu,ambiance. The Box Tree is one of the best places we have been to, & we have been all over Europe. Thank you all, a Michelin Star restaurant with michelin star staff
Great food great service lovely people. Well worth it. The best I can say is if I die right now at least I’ll die knowing I had an incredible last meal.
Can’t wait for next time.
Loved it, felt like royalty. Love the decor of the place, feels like going back in time but in a good way, really cosy. The service is the best. The food was amazing! Would recommend to anyone wanting to celebrate in style, it was a special evening. Thank you.
A real treat to come to the Box Tree... lovely surroundings and the food was fabulous! Cannot recommend the roast beef Sunday lunch highly enough. Delicious.
What an incredible place. The service was outstanding from start to finish, so much knowledge about each individual dish and the food was exceptional. The beef was particularly outstanding. Thank you!
Went last night for the first time with my husband and a colleague, from entering the building our fantastic night begin, we were met by a very confidant young man who sat us in the bar area got us drinks and gave us the menu's, we then ordered our food and wine which he recommended to us it was a English wine with Elderflower very nice, we were then took to our table, what a wonderful set up, and during the evening all of the front of house staff were very professional and very attentive with a pleasant relaxed atmosphere,
The food was out of this world from presentation to taste, we enjoyed every course we had, could not fault it one bit, The flavours in the amuse-bouche were out of this world i actually thought I was in Thailand, the flavours were so immense. Every dish was cooked to perfection The Turbot was amazing, the deer to die for and the veal so tender. The desserts so pretty and rich in taste.
Such talented chefs in my eyes they warrant a second Michelin star.
Great place. Lived in Leeds for 10 plus years and never been so it was my partners birthday I thought I'd treat us. Had a lovely meal, wine etc. Would go again!
Had my Birthday lunch here on 6th August. Absolutely lovely.
Service is impeccable food is to die for and the ambiance is so relaxing.
Cant wait to go back for the taster menu
Superb ambience/ food/drink and knowledge and fun side of waiting staff - we felt as if we were the only people in the restaurant. Not only a fabulous meal but a true experience. Many Thanks.
Fantastic taster menu, food to die for especially the soufflé, just incredible!!
The whole experience was wonderful from food to service... highly recommend x❤️
We visited Saturday evening & ordered from the a la carte menu. The food was very good & the service was excellent, would thoroughly recommend.
Judy had a “Menu Gourmand” voucher for her birthday. Top notch food and excellent service. With high expectations it did not disappoint!
It is not often that we dine at Michelin star restaurants so when we do, it makes it extremely special and memorable. It’s even more precious to share the dining experience with a loved one. The Box Tree was established in 1962 and the setting is a Yorkshire stone farmhouse. The restaurant gets it’s name from the box trees planted in the front garden.
Tranche of Halibut with Mayan Gold potatoes & asparagus – as Michelin say in their red guide, “Only the best ingredients are used” Here, they were cooked with splendid skill and precision with a respectful simplicity. Sublime.
Amazing. Went here for a birthday treat. Spectacular food and a great evening. If only I could afford to come here every day!
Service throughout was just the right balance of formal and friendly. Before the meal, we had decided upon a shortlist of possible wines, but the maitre d' cum sommelier steered us away towards a white Bordeaux at half the price of our ideas, a 2007 Graves, Château Arzac Cuvée Lea, which was an excellent recommendation, working extremely well with all our dishes.
Whatever chef Brado and the team did has given the Box Tree a fresh new menu and a higher standard than before. Having eaten there since he has taken over, there is an obvious increase in quality. The new dishes are bolder with an air of confidence from the new head chef and his kitchen.
Front of house the service is excellent and the sommelier knowledgeable and happy to give his recommendations. Waiting staff were pleasant and professional.
Location of restaurant means no on site parking but the main town car park is to the rear of restaurant with a 1 min walk.
With a constantly evolving menu there will always be a reason to go back.
We had the pleasure of having a dining experience here for my partners birthday.
Staff were very pleasent and fun and we found the place to not be as pretentious as other awarded resteraunts. Food was incredible as were the cocktails. Also for an almost 3 hour experience price was very reasonable. Will deffo be coming again.
This restaurant has managed to remain unchanged in its appearance for over 40 years! It’s a wonderful period piece but with a very up to date set menu which managed to please a picky octogenarian and her slightly younger children. The food tastes delicious and the wine list is good value too.
We have been a few times for dinner, which has always been delighful, so fancied trying Sunday lunch @boxtreerestaurant , every dish was delicious and perfectly executed! Definitely, the star dish was obviously the roast beef! It's really good value for money for a five course lunch. The wine is always fantastic, clearly the staff were very busy, but as always, very pleasant.
Tasting menu. Some excellent food and great wine pairing. Missed out on 5 for the food because the cheese course had no taste of cheese, it was totally overwhelmed by the oats. The beef tartare was a stand out, as was the chocolate dessert. Very enjoyable evening, the staff were faultless.
Sensationally satisfying and an Ilkley treasure. It was birthday treat, so put a tenner aside for the year and treat yourself to a real Yorkshire Sunday roast fine dining experience. Expensive yes, are you worth it? Abso-bloody-lutely!
Rather fabulous meal in an incredible setting.
£90 taster menu. 9 courses and each one was faultless. Beautifully presented and precisely prepared.
We've eaten at Michelin starred restaurants and this is every bit as worthy.
Highly recommend a visit.
From arrival to leaving this restaurant treats its customers like they are their only guests. Attentive and friendly and a very comfortable relaxed atmosphere. As for the food there are not enough superlatives to do it justice. Flavours were subtle and then strong. Dishes served beautifully. And the idea of updating 60 years of previous menus is just inspired. I would very very highly recommend.
Came here for our ten year anniversary and they did not disappointment. Card on the table to congratulate was a lovely touch. The sommelier was fantastic, lots of great picks and information. And the food... I was a little worried it would be all style and no substance but I couldn't have been more wrong. Everything was out of this world in flavour, quality and texture. Honestly one of the best meals I have every eaten, worth every penny. We will hopefully be back soon!
Flawless. By far and away our best culinary experience. Exquisite food, impeccable service, beautiful surroundings. Feels old school in the best possible way. Not cheap but worth every penny - thank you for a wonderful evening.
