Been coming here since I was a kid, the food is always amazing and the staff are super cool. Food and drink are very reasonably priced. Even better when you know the hidden gems that are not on the menu that are a must to be ordered.
Shah Jahan has been here since 1986 are still going strong not much can be said for the other Indians around here.
My favourite Indian restaurant in the area. To be served in the restaurant you are met with friendly, polite, helpful, welcoming staff. If ordering a take away you can expect a delay at busy times, it's definitely a case of tasty food rather than fast food.
Firstly I must say this is my first time ordering from here and I do order a lot of curry's! I have called serval times over past weekends and their delivery times are too long due to being busy (good thing) so I ordered tonight and I like hot food and when I said I want a vindaloo extra hot they made it happen, was a very nice meal. Very happy with the communication between myself and 1 of the 3 brothers on the phone, for how long the place has been open (long time) they will be open for more years to come. Only 1 criticism is the rice being slightly overcooked other than that decent food for delivery. Will visit to eat in at somepoint. Thanks 👍
Cracking good food, tasty, served hot, great staff. Big portions and always willing to pack your uneaton food free of charge for your breakfast the next day. Been coming here for over 25 years and never had a problem at The Shah.
I have been getting my currys from Shan Jahan since I came to live in Ilkeston in 2001. The staff are really friendly and their food is the best Indian food I have ever tasted. I have been vegan for the 5 years and they are still able to cater for me. The sign of a good restaurant.

Had some amazing food from here over the years and when we eat the restaurant the staff and so nice this place is hard to beat.
As for the bad reviews for this place get a grip it's only a small place and is very busy. And I see that the people who are giving one star have only one to five reviews I rest my case
Top quality Indian for eat in and takeaways. Been coming years and will continue. Staff friendly and always helpful. Value for money and the size of the meals are better than any other Indian I have been too.

Shah jahan is quite simply the best Indian restaurant in ilkeston if not the world that I have ever been too. Great relaxing atmosphere unbelievable food and the best staff you could ever wish to meet and wait on you. Always smiling, always have time to chat with you and make you feel right at home. Loads of different currys to choose from and the value for money is unbelievable. Please make time to visit the shah jahan you won't be disappointed ......

Amazing place amazing food I am autistic and can be a funny eater but I don't eat the meat meals I can't eat garlic don't like brussel sprouts and there way more then happy to cater for you there is the quiet Guy who is great and the loud one who loves to talk about gadgets and chat enthusiastically the rest are just as great especially Dad great for big day or just a nice quiet meal
