Came across this lovely place whilst driving through today. Food was delicious, staff were friendly and loved the that typical country pub and family feel. Very welcoming and would definitely visit again. We travelled from Kent, but certainly worth the drive to visit again

We live in Wiltshire and were visiting Our friends Tina and Ian who took us here on bank holiday Monday evening for a meal...I don't think we would have ever found it by ourselves ..but what a treat! The food, service and friendly atmosphere were all outstanding ...I can't wait until we can visit again!!

We have been holidaying in East Sussex for the past ten years. House sitting my cousins property. We had a beautiful dog then and my cousin told us of the Queens Head and that they take dogs. So four years back we started going, every meal we have had has been wonderful. The atmosphere is lovely and staff are great. Unfortunately Millie our dog died last October which was a tremendous loss and this year is our first time without her. But we still came anyway as the food is great and I get to stroke other dogs that are there

Had a lovely lunch with friends yesterday. Delicious crab salad, followed by a very generous slice of homemade Banoffee Pie with cream. It was a delight. Service was excellent too. All round, a very lovely experience - thank you.

Lovely local pub with a friendly service and a great selection of ales. Bonus * for having good vegetarian food options rather than the old macaroni & cheese/risotto choices you see a lot. That halloumi burger with sweet chilli sauce was ace!

Amazing! I walked here from Rye, then Winchelsea, and arrived at 11:15am. The staff were engaging and professional as I entered. I was made to feel very welcome. Burger and chips with salad, and Guinness: world class and I will DEFINITELY be back. What an epic day! Thanks to all the team there who make this the success it is. Very good value for money. 😀👍

Warm, friendly and welcoming. The food was very tasty and the portions were extremely generous. Apparently they were short staffed today but couldn't tell. We didn't have to wait long for our food and everyone was very attentive. Would highly recommend this pub.

We saw the sign at the side of the road for this place on our way from Hastings to Camber sands... thought we'd book it up for our wedding anniversary and we're glad we did. Situated in the countryside, with gorgeous, vast views of the local landscape, this place is easy to find via Google directions. The outside is what you'd expect from a 17th century Inn and the garden and car park are well attended. The pub itself is full of charm, with quirky old-fashioned bits and bobs everywhere you look and strong references to royalty (well, it is The Queen's head after all!). The staff were very friendly and helpful and the locals made us feel very welcome too. It was incredibly popular - no table was left empty for long and speaking of tables, they are just as higgledy piggledy as the floor spaces (there are several little areas in the pub, including a nook, a room with a huge fireplace, the bar area and a lower seating area, all seperated by old beams to give plenty of light inside. The food was all cooked perfectly - reasonably priced and tasty with large portions and the chips were amazing. The only little thing we'd comment on it that the mixed grill has 2 very overpowering flavours - that of the mint on the lamb and the smoked gammon, which detracted slightly from the natural meaty flavours from the chicken and steak. The sausage was huge and flavoursome and herby and the egg was cooked perfectly to our liking too. We would definitely recommend this place if you're in the area. Thank you for having us, we hope to visit again some day.

It was our first visit as we were staying nearby. We loved the place. The food was fantastic. The portion size was a bit big for us as we are small eaters. The service was very warm and friendly. It's a very old pub and we loved the interior. Whenever we are back in Winchelsea, we will definitely be back.

Just stopped here for a drink while walking through the village, but what a lovely spot. It's slightly tucked away, but the garden has a lovely view. Inside is a comfy place to enjoy a pint.

What an amazing pub! We feel so lucky to have found such an fantastic place to spend this evening. You have to go for the atmosphere, which has to be seen and the food is just wonderful, we only wish we were staying longer in this area. A big thank you to everyone there for your hard work in running such a brilliant pub.

Made immediately welcome as soon as we walked through the door. Stunning building and Inside a beautiful traditional pub. Ourselves being from Kent we’re not familiar with the local beers so the bar man very attentively offered us a taster the beer my dad tried was lovely but as cider was my normal tipple I tried something different although on reflection should have gone with my first choice as mine was bottle I couldn’t try it first! We then looked at the extensive reasonably priced menu and a lovely special board with some beautiful fish options! Myself and my father decided to go for the burger my word this was a meal and half a huge burger with 2 rashers of lovely cooked bacon cheddar cheese and salad and gherkins in a lovely fresh bun homemade delicious coleslaw huge portion of chunky chips and beautiful (side salad) that took up a third of the plate! Although delicious portion was huge and neither of us could finish it but a beautiful pub excellent staff everyone (although I don’t know any names) the chap who served us at the bar will remember me from this review and he was wearing a dark shirt with palm leaves on! He was brilliant hope to be back soon in better weather

Beautiful old pub, roaring fire indoors. Fantastic views across the fields down to the sea. Staff very friendly and helpful. We had the ham and prawn sandwiches served with a salad and nachos which were very nice. Lovely place to visit after a long walk, we will be going back.

Nestled away off the main route from Hasting to Rye is this quant old pub. With views looking out on the wide spread nearby fields there’s an ample seating area to enjoy the countryside. A welcome greeting is always given and a wide bar allows enough room to give your order without having to crowd the bar area. A specials board gives a large choice of locally sourced food and seafood. We chose the mussels which came with choices of garlic bread or chips. They were served in a smooth garlic source which was delicious. Prices are very reasonable for quantity portions. Overall a wonderful place to eat. Booking in evenings are recommended

Came here for the first time this week. It's a bit tucked away off the main drag, but I'm glad I found it. Firstly, there's plenty of parking. I was surprised, as it was a Monday lunchtime, how busy it was, inside and out in the garden ( which has lovely views) and this made for a good atmosphere. I'd booked a table and was greeted by the landlady, who welcomed us warmly, took our drink order, showed us to our table then brought the drinks over. It's the epitome of an old country pub, quite dark, but atmospheric with lots of nooks and crannies. Now the food: started with veggie spring rolls with chilli sauce dip. There were small rolls so it was enough to share. We both opted for skate and chips off the specials board for mains. It was pan fried, not battered, and it was absolutely delicious and a huge portion. So much so, we had to swerve dessert as no room. I really recommend this place. I'll certainly be back!

Very nice, traditional pub, with a good selection of local beets and an extensive food menu which includes many of the pub favourites. The service was efficient and friendly. We enjoyed our food and the atmosphere. Recommended.

Nice pub with good food. All 7 of us were pleased with what we ordered. Three of us had the mixed fish and chips and we'd all recommend it as it was surprisingly better than we expected.

A very friendly country pub. Always a great selection of local ale as well as big brands. Excellent menu with daily fish specials (depending on local catch). Look out for the spelling mistakes on the blackboard. Tuesday quiz nights are fun. Always live music on a Sunday.

I like to visit occasionally, there is an extensive menu, and the meals are of generous proportions. Friendly owners and staff, both outside and inside dining is offered, the view across the Brede Valley, down to Rye and beyond is just fantastic. Visited today, on a glorious sunny day, once again I admired the view whilst eating my chicken in Stilton sauce meal

Great place for a drink and a meal. Went for an evening meal with my wife. A lovely pub with log fires, friendly atmosphere, good service and a relaxed feel. It's a proper pub, not a pretend pub. The food is good - great range, fresh cooked, hot and filling - really enjoyed the meal. Good Guinness also!

My friend and her children came down to visit so we went looking for a pub for an evening meal. We stumbled across the sign for the pub and decided to give it a go! And what a find! We were so warmly welcomed by the staff. Seated at a table by the open fire. Nothing was to much for them! They accommodated all our needs. The food was home cooked and delicious and they are not shy on there portions! Price was very reasonable to! Definitely be returning with my family and friends to show them what a gem of a pub this is!
