We popped into this pub today after googling ‘dog friendly pubs’ after a visit to Brockhill country park. We had a newborn baby and a dog in tow. We were welcomed into the back part of the pub and was served and spoken to by the lovely and friendly staff. They had lots of treats to offer my dog which he loved and it was such a welcoming atmosphere! I was able to breastfeed in the pub also, and felt comfortable to do so. If we are ever back in the area, this pub is definitely on the list to revisit and the food was amazing, freshly cooked and served in a timely manner. Thank you for a lovely visit 😊

Stayed for one night on our way to France. Made extremely welcome by everyone. Had dinner which was delicious and well prepared. Must mention the cleaning ladies who are doing an amazing job - absolutely spotless room and bathroom. Room was a bit noisy but what do you expect from a pub on the main road?? Would definitely stay again.

Went down for our last dinner of our recent trip to the UK, right before heading home on the channel tunnel. Food was amazing, felt like I was in heaven, so delicious. Had the steak and kidney pie which looked and tasted really great with fresh ingredients and a miniature lion in the crust to top it all off. Sticky toffee and date pudding with custard as dessert was superb as well. Harry was our waiter for the evening and took great care of us, super friendly and lovely chap. Extra bonus was we drove only a couple of minutes to reach the channel tunnel terminal, didn't even have to get back on the motorway, so location was ideal for us. They'll definitely see us back on our next visit!

Met friend (Doug who recommended here) here for a meal on Monday. Nice food good selection and specials board. Excellent choice of local ales and nice wine friendly atmosphere (it was busy which is nearly always a good recommendation and reasonably priced. Convenient for public transport and carpark available.

Firstly, a fantastic menu fully labelled with loads of gluten free options. Secondly, the most accommodating and friendly staff. A lovely experience and delicious food. Will be back again.

We visit Hythe a couple of times a year to see family, and we are always happy to return to the Red Lion. The accommodation is spacious and clean (yay Housekeeper Deb!) and the food is gourmet pub quality (Chef Mark offers daily specials like seared tuna). New managers Bill and Debs are continuing the friendly ambience and we enjoy meeting our friends there for a drink. The location is so handy - close to the high street and the beach, as well as a hub for local and regional busses - very walkable for Hythe and nearby. Casual, friendly, economical, convenient.

As always, an amazing meal with wonderful friendly and accommodating staff. We are so lucky to have this as one of our local pubs. The chef always manages to accommodate my dietary requirements never making me feel like it's too much trouble. The food is always of a great standard and delicious!

We popped in during a walk for a drink and some lunch. The hospitality and food were fantastic, we had our dog so could not sit in the restaurant, however the bar seating area which is dog friendly was lovely.

Lovely meal. Took a little longer than expected, so we were offered a free drink to compensate. Lovely staff and great food.

Great stay near Eurotunnel on way home from France. Friendly helpful staff. Good parking for bikes. A bit of road noise but we could have shut windows and used fan provided. Spotlessly clean.

Great location on the canal , food was high end fresh and well presented , cannot say enough about the staff , very attentive well presented professional and informative ,although busy this very popular establishment with the locals has a low tone and relaxing atmosphere , obviously well managed with a large attractive outdoor space and separate dining area, for a more private experience, Very clean and tidy ,dog friendly { And sometimes the occasional cat friendly ,,,? ......) would highly recommend a visit , i look forward to my next lovely cold refreshing pint , thanks again ......David
