Second time we have been. Really good food and the best sticky toffee pudding I’ve ever had ( and I’ve had a lot). This place should be aiming for a Michelin star in the future.

We had lunch here recently with friends, seven of us in total, to celebrate one couple's golden wedding anniversary. We had a private room upstairs and everything was excellent, delicious food, nothing could be faulted on everyone's meal, very friendly and good service. We have been many times and will continue to return often

After wining afternoon tea. Unfortunately I wasn't able to attend so my mum and her friend attended. They absolutely loved the experience, they comment how professional the staff where, how cosy the environment was, and how lovely the food was. Thank you Bay horse for providing this wonderful experience.

You can tell this is no ordinary pub by the garden at the back.  The tables have big umbrellas advertising Nyetimber. Any place that advertises England’s best sparkling wine rather than mass-produced French champagne gets my vote.  It’s pretty indicative of the standard they’re aiming for here: it’s a quintessentially English pub with a very upmarket offering. And quite a few surprises. However, I’m pleased to report that a meal here isn’t going to break the bank. That’s why they’ve just been awarded their fourth Michelin “bib gourmand” – given to places offering three good courses for less than £28.

Roasted Grouse with Grouse Sausage Roll, bread sauce, elderberry jelly, sautéed celeriac, smoked bacon gaufrette potatoes & game gravy – I found the presentation a little fussy but the cooking was laudable and the flavours big and bold; especially the rich game gravy and elderberry jelly.

We went for a family Sunday lunch. Staff were very friendly, helpful and welcoming and the food was fantastic. We all had different meats for the meal, lovely fresh veg and asking for a jug of extra gravy was not a problem at all. We sat inside but could see out to a lovely garden, will definitely be returning to try the rest of the menu

We were on a road trip when we found this hidden gem. Staff were extremely friendly and food was perfect from presentation to the taste. Their oyster is a must try!

Had read about the Bay Horse being one of the best gastro pubs in the north, so booked lunch there on our way home from our wedding anniversary mini-break. It was absolutely superb. We had the prix fixe lunch since it had dishes we liked the look of, and everything my wife and I had was excellent - and good value too, at £25 for three courses. But it was the extra touches as well that made it a memorable meal - tasty mini breads to start, with spreadable butter (and you don't always get that), the selection of petit fours with the coffee. We had tables on the patio - ideal for a very hot day. Staff were friendly. Hurworth-on-Tees itself is a lovely village. Definitely would recommend the Bay Horse to anyone. We'll be back, and maybe try the main menu as a special treat.

Excellent lunch from the fixed price menu. . Food was beautifully cooked and presented. The apple and plum crumble was a triumph. Our waiter was very attentive, not intrusive. Very much appreciated the added bonus of home made fudge/ chocolate at the end of the meal.

First visit and won’t be the last… beautiful inside and out, and just such relaxed attentive house staff. They take pride in all that they do, which is evident in their presence. A good selection of dishes available, presented stunningly and with great attention to detail, plus a stunning desert to compliment. All a credit to the chef and their assistants. Thank you

Simply wow. The food was magnificent. I had scallops to start and rabbit as the main course. Everything was cooked to perfection, and the service was amazing as well. Cannot recommend this place more highly. It was a great meal, in a great pub with amazing staff. If you can go there, definitely do it.

Absolutely stunning food and service. Took my mum here for her birthday dinner and ate off the main menu. It’s certainly not a cheap evening but the quality of the food is really worth it and the market menu gives you amazing value. Cannot fault The Bay Horse in any way.

Great venue, menu and vibes, the food was great but just lacked a little seasoning overall, for example I was expecting the slow cooked beef to pack a punch but just lacked a little on the flavour side. On the other hand the mussles although delicious and perfectly cooked a little too salty with the pancetta, with that said the sticky toffee pudding sure made up for it! Overall a great pub doing great things, onward and upwards, wish you all the best!

We had Sunday dinner recently and we're pleased overall. We both had beef, the Yorkshire pudding was very good, the veg selection good, potatoes, red cabbage, cauliflower cheese, etc. The beef was mixed, mine wasn't generous and a little chewy for being rare, whereas my wife who asked for hers well done got the better pieces. The desserts sticky toffee pud and carrot cake were nice but if you'd swapped them they looked exactly the same. Tasted good though. Which is the important bit.
