I have been recommended and encouraged by good friends to experience the Steakhouse at Johnsons of Old Hurst, of which our family chose to do for a special occasion this week. I have to say that having been somewhat disillusioned over a period of time with the chain style restaurant, this venue proved to be totally unique in the most positive of ways. I understand that the fayre is all in house produced and it was a great pleasure to taste food of the highest quality and indeed how meat should actually taste. The staff were consistently friendly and non overbearing in their approach, our meals were delivered quicker than anticipated and the chef was outstanding in his meal preparation. The restaurant itself is light and airy with plenty of room between tables, the facilities being brand new were fabulous and the prices generous in respect of the high quality delivered. Our friends had travelled quite some distance to join us and left feeling that the 100 mile journey had been more than worthwhile, asking "when are we coming here again"? I returned the next day to shop for similar meats available within the farm shop whereby I was astounded once again by the quality and selection available. I can highly recommend to anyone who wishes to experience high quality at respectable prices and definitely a friendly family run business with the family experience at heart. Thank you all at Johnsons of Old Hurst, we very much look forward to returning again and again. Highly recommended and definitely the destination of choice for quality value and service. A********

I first paid Johnson’s a visit when they held the St Ives motorbike show two weeks later came back with the wife by car about an hours drive well worth the effort . We enjoyed the woodland walk and looking at the various animals and birds worked up an appetite and the cafe didn’t let us down one of the best ploughman’s I have had in a long while . Although busy the staff cleaned the tables very quickly and generally great service the on site butchers is well worth a visit fantastic selection of food at reasonable prices Now my grandchildren are on holiday I am planning another visit as I know they will enjoy Johnson’s as much as we did . So glad you held the motorbike show !

We had a great time here with our two children (3 yrs and 3 months). Plenty of play equipment, facilities to eat, and awesome animals to look at. Easily killed 3 hours here with our little ones. Great farm shop and butchery. Excellent value for money on the entry prices. Highly recommend.

We visited the Tea Room, shop and farm today. We started with a coffee in the tea room when it opened at 10am, it was already quite busy. The coffee was really nice, we weren’t having food today but what we saw looked amazing and we will be coming back for breakfast another time. After our coffee we had a look around the farm shop which had some lovely produce, kitchen accessories and gifts. It was amazing to see all the animals, far more than we thought there would be and a lovely woodland walk too. At just £4 per adult it was really good value. By the time we left the car parks were filling up so I would aim to visit as early as possible if you want to beat the crowds. On site is an amazing Steakhouse which we have visited a few times before, they serve excellent quality food and a great choice of dishes. Highly recommended

Great butchers and a surprisingly fantastic zoo with all sorts of animals from their famous crocs to lions with plenty more in between. Fresh veg and meats available in the very well stocked shop from locally produced and sourced items. Cafe on site with plenty of parking too with the overflow car park opposite. Highly recommend with or without children.

First time here with grandson, he was absolutely amazed by it all. Not too crowded either, the lion was awesome, the butchers was great bought the maple chicken and a fudge tart this was just like the one I had at school 40 years ago, we will definitely be going back there all staff were very friendly and helpful.

Been going for a few years now and love it. Food is excellent and great service. Visit to the shop is a must great items and produce. Animals are beautiful missed seeing the puma and lynx as both were inside but the reptiles are amazing. Recently started charging for entry but still excellent value and have expanded the car park. Great for teenagers too gets them away from their screens 👏

Well I took the kids here to do the halloween woodwalk, they loved it. The animals were adorable there was deers, donkeys, lions, a puma, a bear, crocodiles, parrots and other reptiles. A nice play area, and then they had a fire pit so we could toast our marshmallows. Then we went to the farm shop and got some yummy food! Kids absolutely loved it.

Amazing place. Came here last around 10 years ago when it was only crocodiles. Now it has loads of animals like bears, emus, goats and owls. Lovely day out with the kids. Also has a great play area in the middle. Farm shop and restaurant have some amazing food.

Parking in ample. Good selection of animals. The crocodile enclosure was the best. Lovely shop selling all sorts of things with a good butchers inside. The steakhouse was nice, I visited on a Sunday so only one steak on the menu which was disappointing. Overall good. Would visit again.

I didn't expect to see lions today?? The shop was wonderful and the sausages were absolutely lovely. Lions parrots and meerkats were a highlight before we even got to the crocodiles!!! Would absolutely recommend for a fun and not too expensive day out Thank you

This place is fantastic. We found this place when searching for places to take our grandchildren. They have a cross selection of animals, some are farm animals and some are wild ones. They have a tropical house which contains fish, alligators, snakes to name a few. As you wander around the animal enclosure there are different play areas which the children loved. Here they also have a very good café and well stocked farm shop. One other part they have is a Steakhouse which on this occasion we didn't try out. Another very big bonus was the entry fee, £4 per adult and our 2 year old grandson was free. In a time where everything is becoming more expensive this is a rare find
