Had a family lunch here, the location and restaurant decor is fantastic and we were made to feel very welcome from the start, my nephew made a beeline for the very fancy padded booth which we we duly seated in “excellent” the menu is very appetising. I have to say the scotch egg starter was outstanding and the pork belly equally good, apparently the chicken had great flavour, the house burger of which I also sampled was very very good. I have to say we really enjoyed our visit, I would be remiss to mention the hostess and waitress who really made the visit even better, thank you

Country pubs rarely create a very special gastronomic experience, but here was a big difference!
We went out for Sunday lunch to this venue, set in a lovely location with a good sized car park, quite busy at the start of the lunch serving.
The building is split between the main building and a huge conservatory area. As you can see I frequent a variety of graded places and this was quite superb.
The main was one of the best quality ribeye’s I have ever eaten, almost perfectly cooked (I like still moo’ing) asked about the roast beef, but they said it was medium to well done, so not for me. Companion had the beef roast and was very complimentary about it. The duck fat pots and Yorkshire were lovely too.
My dessert was a passion fruit and lemon meringue mess which I had honeycomb crumb added to, which was quite wonderous, I really wanted a second one!
The venue is great staff efficient polite and rapid.
Menu was quite varied and interesting too. The views out of the window over the river Crouch was delightful too.
Toilets clean and well presented.
Thrilled I was able to go to somewhere gpso good as my 1000th review.

Excellent. Visited today for our anniversary and had one of the best meals we’ve had anywhere. The duck starter was amazing. Good selection of wine and the staff are friendly and helpful.
Lovely new menu! The Anchor is my go to place for a nice lunch or dinner. Staff are always lovely, accommodating, setting is beautiful, even more so in the summer. Fab pornstar martini’s too �
Our first visit and cannot wait to go back - food was outstanding (especially the soft shell crab starter and 'special' cod dish for main)

Visited on a Saturday night. Had booked a table and was given a lovely one overlooking the water. The restaurant is very nice and views even better.
Great vegan options on the menu, had the beetroot burger which was ok. Also had the sticky toffee pudding which was very nice.
Special mention to Laura who was really lovely and friendly. Would love to come back and try more of the vegan options!
Had a lovely meal today here, pleasantly surprised how wonderful the place is, as I havnt been here for over twenty years. Staff were amazing, service was excellent along with the food.
First time there on recommendation of colleague at work. Not disappointed. Nice Modern Gastropub with a view of the river. Would be lovely to sit outside on a summer's day. Welcoming and attentive staff. We had the shared antipasti which was nice, maybe roccotta cheese might be too much. I have the Sumac Lamb Shank with was nice but slightly over done outside. My wife has the Buttered Cod which was tasty , tad too much chorizo. Good size portion . Price point a bit expensive overall. But a pleasant experience overall

We were treated to a lunch of fish and chips; which we took in the garden. Whilst we did enjoy the riverside views and sunshine, we would have liked an outside area with no smokers.
Our first time here, we turned up on Sunday lunchtime for something to eat. The tables were all fully booked, but the staff went above and beyond to find us somewhere.
The service was prompt and polite and good humoured. The food arrived quickly and was delicious.
Can't fault anything.... Will definitely book in advance next time and get a table with a river view.
We had a thoroughly enjoyable meal f cod with new potatoes, churizo and spinach. Fish was beautifully cooked and the flavours in the meal were mouthwatering. Above all, our waitress had a lovely welcome for us, a lovely smile, sat us by the window with a view, was very attentive and made my elderly Mum's visit here a memorable one.
Great place to have dinner out ☺️with friends. Great variety of food and service was attentive. I had the chicken cesar salad and this was filling, being the chicken well cooked. It was a bit pricey but at the same time the place is really nice, food is really good and the kitchen seems utterly clean. I would definitely recommend!
Came in yesterday with my daughter for brunch. And to find out what the place was like as we are coming here for Xmas day dinner. Was not disappointed the food was lovely and waitress attentive. She even showed my daughter where we would all be dining. Am looking forward to Xmas day with the family.
Good tasty porchetta roast which was well cooked, served with really delicious herby gravy and excellently cooked veg.
A birthday meal for the family. The staff could not have been more attentive in a non intrusive manner. The food was great and plenty of it for a few very hungry men. As usual, I have come away thinking I must come more often. Thanks to all staff. A credit to the company.

Very nice pub/restaurant located by the river crouch,great beer garden to sit in and enjoy the views of the river while enjoying a drink and something to eat.i had a lovely bacon cheddar cheese burger with house fries.the burger was very good quality meat,grilled just right and my partner had fish and chips. Haddock fish and very big portion. This is certainly a five star operation, I only give 4 stars because while we were there the gardeners were cutting the beer garden lawn which went on for our entire lunch and spoiler the tranquility of the location.
