Ace pub. Super friendly, clean, well run with straight forward high quality food and they sell farmers blonde! Kids made to feel welcome. Our favourite pub in the Holmfirth area, highly recommended.
Met friends for lunch. There was an extensive menu with lots of choice. The staff were very friendly and attentive. The food was a generous portion even for the lite bite lunch and everything was hot and delicious. Would definitely recommend it and will be returning in the near future

My wife and I found this place a few months ago. We are now recognised regulars for lunchtime visits. The ales are exceptionally well kept and a great selection always available. The food is fantastic. We particularly like the smaller options of the main meals. They are a lower price, great value and we don't feel like we've just tried to finish off a Christmas dinner. Great food and great value. Be seeing you again soon.
Great place to stay or just have a drink. Richard is a kind and warm host and his staff are polite, helpful and very patient. The rooms are nice and well furnished. The food is amazing, whether in the morning or for tea. The prices are fair and the choice of beer is amazing. I would recommend it to anyone. Do book a table in advance though and be advised that parking can be difficult.
Had the gammon and it was OK! Nice pub in a quiet village good service decent choice of drinks would recommend 👌

Superb hospitality, welcome, rooms, food, drinks. Richard had a fantastic offering and he and his team make you feel right at home. Lovely local ales abd massive delicious portions of proper pub food. Rooms have all recently been decorated and they are clean and fresh. Would recommend and hopefully we will be back soon.

Quiz night is excellent
Went for dinner last night, had a Pod outside. The meal was really good.
We spent Saturday night at the rose and crown and booked in for b&b we had a great night with friendly staff and a great meal, the room was clean and adequate, the breakfast was superb. Thank you to all the staff.
Lovely classic country pub. Good selection of beers and ales on tap. Very friendly and helpful staff. Fantastic menu offering traditional pub food, lighter bites and tasty surprises like the seafood platter and lobster ravioli.

This place is brilliant and amazing value for what you get. We stayed over for a couple of nights with breakfast included and had a wonderful time.
The rooms were excellent. Clean and well stocked with refreshments for enjoying in the hotel. They have en suites so no need to worry about sharing a bathroom with other lodgers in the morning.
In the morning we went down to breakfast and were told we could order any form of English breakfast we wanted from full English to bacon butties with a coffee. This included veggie if not vegan options.
We liked the place so much that each night we came back to buy dinner. The dinners were reasonably cost and generously sized. I ordered a pulled pork burger on the first night and it was absolutely lush with the pork being rich and moist. As you eat within the pub the pints on offer are also plentiful.
Thing to watch out for is there is a curfew for coming back to the pub in the evening as they need to be able to lock up for security reasons however this was perfectly acceptable to us. If you are aiming to spend your time here after a long night out coming back in the early morning then this will not suit you as a place to stay.
A really excellent Sunday roast, best we have had in the area, and a tasty sticky toffee pudding to finish. Good selection of real ales and cute outside seating area. Highly recommend!
