Pass this pub every day & thought it would be a good idea to have a meal & catch up with friends here last night.
It's a good job we booked as the pub was busy but service from staff was still great.
Plenty of choice on the menu and food portions were quite big & tasty. We ordered the pheasant, lamb shank & surf & turf. All were spot on.
Plenty of choice for dessert too.
Will definitely return - thanks 👍
Family meal for my fathers birthday. 11 of us in total including 3 children. Food was excellent. Staff couldn’t do enough for us!!!!! Can’t wait to go back. One of the best Sunday lunches I’ve had this year!! Well done x
Absolutely love this place, lovely ambience, great friendly staff, and the food is AMAZING 👍Esp the steak n mushroom pie oh and the chips Fabulous!! Our fav pub for grub 👍Xx
Excellent home cooked food we had steak pie and vegetarian Sunday dinner and chicken breast Sunday dinner and 2 roast beef dinners and lamb shank the food was beautiful. Staff were friendly too
Good food, even better beer. Will be a good eating place once the extension is complete.
Had lamb shank last night was so tasty wife had the Gammon food was lovely had a couple of pints of the black sheep staff friendly.
Go all the time never had a bad meal yet and the staff do there best
Called in on Saturday after a very long walk. 12-45pm. Not been for years. Very warm friendly staff, nice beer and food fantastic. Will defo walk that way again.
Always 100% yummy! Love this place soooooooooo much. I tried the halibut last night and it was wonderful. Great service, better than delicious food and very affordable prices!!! Will be back again and again and again. Been here several times and hope to continue x
Excellent Pub. Great food, portion size, Tim Taylor’s and atmosphere. Cheers
Excellent food beer and atmosphere. I'd not been for a long time and really enjoyed it. Definitely worth a visit
Food excellent service excellent not much more you can say only can recommend it 😎
Went last night not overly but was Monday night. Had the option of Christmas menu or normal we took the normal menu good selection of all courses. The food was good and genourous portions and service was good. We will be going again
I've not tasted a roast dinner this delicious in a long time. We had the pork which was cooked to perfection. Every bit of the meal was a delight to the taste buds 😋 we had lemon and treacle sponge and custard for dessert which was also delicious and a generous serving. The only comment I'd make here is it would have been nice to taste a bit more lemon, but I understand that not everyone likes too much lemon. Staff are very welcoming and polite. Great experience 👍
I must say it's the best food and service we've had in a long time, we all enjoyed our meals the service was quick, we were all fed in under a hour!!
No complaints at all..
They even ask us if everything was OK for us.
I can't understand these bad reviews at all!! I would recommend this pub to anyone....
Excellent service, food and atmosphere. Couldn't fit me in for the time I wanted but called me back with an acceptable alternative. Beautiful place with great views. Would highly recommend this place but get your booking in early. We will definitely be going back.
We had a family meal out here. The food was lovely. We got a table near the large windows so got to enjoy the lovely setting.
Will definitely come here again hopefully very soon.
Called in for Sunday tea. Modern and clean, but with a traditional feel, this is a lovely pub. It has a campsite out back with lovely views. The food is home made and delicious. At the time of writing, they had a Sunday menu that is £4.95 per starter or dessert and £10.95 for mains. The service was friendly and fast. Outside there is a nice area to sit under shelter or there is ample seating inside. We'll be back.
Have not been here for food since before lockdown. Used to be regulars for Sunday lunch which was excellent. But became very busy due to extention and obviously quality. Now retired am able to go on not so busy times. Everything was just as before, excellent food, service and drinks. Friendly welcome, not rushed very comfortable and spacious with tremendous views. Excellent.
Lovely pub. I was driving so just had a coke. I had Cumberland sausage and onion mash with peas. The sausages were not very spicy and the mash a little on the "stiff" side. I also had a "warm" chocolate thingy with custard which was microwaved for far too long and totally destroyed it 😕.
I won't eat there again unfortunately, as before it had been very good.
Generous portions. Modules whilst marginally over cooked were very good and the sauce was delicious, as was the bread to mop it up. Veg might have been a little unadventurous, but the Chicken, Lamb shank and Steak pie were all very good. Too stuffed to have pudding!
I haven't been here for a good few years but was very pleased we came for a meal today. The pub is very well decorated and super clean, the staff who served us were all amazing and very polite, compliments to the chef and kitchen staff the food is absolutely incredible! Plenty of parking and lots out outdoor seating and beautiful views. Thank you so much we'll be back soon :-)
Great location for great food. Excellent main courses however me and a friend were both disappointed with the desserts. Nationally available ales on tap, why not try some better small local breweries?
Pleasant friendly service from all the girls. Good parking and lots of outdoor tables.
Stayed in our camper van in the car park grounds. Use of loos when pub open. Plenty of bins and chemical waste disposal too. No obligation to eat at the pub but so glad we did. Lovely home cooked food. Service was great too. It was very busy and the staff never stopped and were so friendly. Lovely outside area with amazing views.
Called on Sunday for a roast dinner and one of the huge Yorkshire puddings that have been mentioned and photographed on here recently.
Disappointingly the only day that they don't serve giant Yorkshire pudding is on Sunday!
Seemed a little disorganised but I think there was a few new members of staff, also they were advertising for staff, so it would not put me off going again.
We had to find ourselves a menu and then you order at the bar.
Roast beef... And the pork were delicious. The veg needed a little butter and seasoning, as did the mash potatoes. The gravy needs more work.
Portion size was good, we didn't leave a scrap. (I would have to disagree with the previous reviewer who said the portions were too big, portions were perfect, for us)
No check back, although the friendly young lady that we paid at the bar upon leaving did ask if all was OK, albeit a bit late at this point.
Very busy place so I would advise booking a table.
Good value for money at £13 for a Sunday roast dinner.
One of the best burgers I’ve eaten. Value for money was good and staff are very welcoming and friendly. I was staying at their campsite and got bogged down due to the soft ground. Chris the owner found time to come out and help tow me in between cooking. Thanks.
Food l9vely ervice good but heard bar staff...one swore.two were heard to say were just going for a wee and thirdly a great debate about what they all should wear for a uniform !!!! Not really acceptable behaviour for front of house staff. I raised these issues at the bar as i was paying for our two meals...very sadly to say the girl who took my money delt with my comments in an unprofessional manner. .no customer skills what so ever. I felt let down ad a customer..its highly unlikely we will go there again
