We had a fabulous afternoon tea. Such a variety of food. My family thought the sausage rolls were the best ever. The staff couldn't have been more attentive, friendly and polite. And a view that takes some beating. Exceptional value for money

The Sharrow Bay Hotel lived up to its name, what a wonderful place to stay. The lake side views were breathtaking. We had the room called serenity it was perfect for myself and my sister just what we needed. The staff were very friendly attended to our needs, nothing wasn't too much trouble at all. We had an afternoon tea and I must say it was the best one we had ever had. We hope to return next year and hopefully get the same room. Thank you for the perfect stay.

We, unfortunately, only stayed for one night in a room in the gatehouse. It was absolutely stunning!! This was a very short walk to the main hotel but we really enjoyed the walk to get breakfast, which was delicious. The staff were friendly and most helpful. We will be back for longer next time. Totally recommend. Thank you X

We stayed in Marion in the main house and had an amazing view from the bed & bedroom over Ullswater. The room was suitably luxurious and comfortable, as was the rest of the hotel. The food in the restaurant was excellent and the sticky toffee pudding to die for. The staff were great - friendly, courteous and very welcoming. Definitely hope to return one day.

Sharrowbay is situated in an ideal setting. Outstanding beautiful scenery. The food, surroundings and staff make this a very enjoyable place to eat. You can also stay, but we havent yet. Well worth a visit but advise to book.

Still one of the best places to dine in the Lake District. Love the fact that Sharrow still retains its character of timeless elegance. Been visiting for nearly 30 years . Just perfect.

Never fails to delight: comfortable, but stylish; courteous, but friendly service; and the food...delicious, and as tempting to the eye as to the palate.

Amazing place, right on the lake, fantastic food and a setting that could be out of the early 20th century. The sticky date pudding was amazing.

We went for a relative special birthday and it was amazing. Even the day was sunny to make more special, the lake Ulswater it's so beautiful and the views from Sharrow Bay absolutely stunning. We had the "through the ages" lunch menu that was just perfect. So beautifully cooked and present, couldn't fault it at all. The service was very good, impeccable, relaxed and friendly. We can't wait to go back.

We were here a few weeks ago and had been here a few years ago. Sadly the food was simply not up to the same standard. It was okay, but not great. The rooms are comfortable and generous in size. Or at least ours were. The whole place really needs some money spending on it to bring it up to date as still slightly 80's, which was possibly the average age of the guests! However, the staff working here could not have been nicer or more helpful.

An absolute gem of a place, the views are amazing, the room we had was fantastic. What I need to point out is the food and wine, my wife and I go to quite a few nice places around the world eating and drinking, this food was exceptional and I cannot understand why they don't have a Michelin 🌟!! The wine list is extensive the staff are amazing. We had beauty treatments by ICON while we were there and I actually dozed off during my Indian head massage, one of the best ever 😀. Some people may find Sharrow Bay expensive but for all the places I've been to, this extremely well worth the money.

Excellent food that is well presented with good combinations of flavours, accompanied by top class, well-chosen wines. It's served in the elegant surroundings of a classic country house styled hotel, and we definitely plan to return!

Beautiful views of Ullswater lake from the hotel and restaurant. The food here is fantastic and who knew the sticky toffee pudding was invented here! We had a lovely stay in the dog friendly cottages a short distance from the lake shore. The grounds are beautiful. A great place to unwind.

My partner and I had a lovely night's stay at the Sharrow Bay by Ullswater in July. Whilst at the hotel we visited the gardens (see photos), which are very relaxing to walk around; they are very well kept! We also had an afternoon tea, which was a distinctly pleasant experience. The restaurant staff were very helpful, polite and prompt. The breakfast was a little lackluster for us, but to be fair it was rather busy that morning. This did not detract from what was otherwise a great experience! FYI, the hotel is down some very narrow roads, and you may be reversing a little way to the nearest passing point. Not great roads for SUVs.

A wonderful hotel on the banks of Ullswater with one of the best views in the UK IMHO. Staff are friendly and attentive, the food is excellent. I have nothing bad to say about this venue and only wish I could have stayed longer than one night. With a room overlooking the water, pulling back the curtains in the morning is simply breathtaking.

Read some questionable reviews on Google, however decided to proceed with a booking and am glad I did! My husband and I had a wonderful time. I can comfortably say we were likely to be the youngest couple there (early 30's) however were welcomed by friendly staff, devoured an amazingly delicious dinner and enjoyed sitting in the sun watching the nearby boats bob up and down on the peaceful lake. Would definitely recommend.

Popped in mid walk for afternoon tea and were made to feel very welcome by the lovely staff here. The scone was amazing, as was the homemade preserve (also on sale in jars). But the star of our visit was the beautiful view from their suntrap terrace overlooking Ullswater.

Sharrowbay is a classic hotel that feels a little as if it has lost its way. The rooms are beautiful and the location is great right in the lake but it seems quite quiet. Perhaps this is because of the time of year but i think its mainly a pricing thing. The hotel now seems very expensive compared to the competition. It always was pricey but much of the competition have now upped their games and it feels now that you're paying for what it used to be rather than what it offers now.

Sharrow Bay is a gorgeous manor house with beautiful views and the legendary sticky toffee pudding. Our three course lunch was cooked to perfection, then we ended our meal with petit fours and coffee on the terrace overlooking the lake. If you're lucky you may even see a Chinook or fighter planes.
