Benign circumstance led us to Sugardough. Seeking a parking space in Brighton at Friday lunchtime, hungry children in the back of the car, fed up we headed west imagining a rural pub would have space for us and be more accessible. The bakery caught my eye from the driving wheel and suddenly there was a parking space, right outside. If pies, tarts and treats could bring world peace then this would be a centre of excellence. Beef pie for my pregnant wife, pumpkin feta + rosemary tart for me, spinach & ricotta roll for the girls, all sublime, accompanied with well-dressed salad and delicious pickled beetroot. Flour free chocolate cake, flat white and three child size hot chocolates blended beautifully, not too sweet. Sitting outside on the pavement on a busy road could have been less than ideal but food and friendly service was redeeming. Goodies in the bag bought to take home. Our blessed holi-days continue. These guys have the world at their fingertips. Thank you so much, *we* (en famille) loved it, and we're a crowd not easily pleased x

Without doubt, the finest Artisan Café around. Every pie, croissant, quiche and array of cakes, not to mention the selection of breads, are freshly made each day using the finest organic produce available. You can taste the quality. If you have never been before, you really should try them out.

I went to the Hove Sugardough on Saturday for the first time. I was very impressed. The decor was beautiful, the music was lovely, the staff were wonderful and the food is to die for! An easy 10/10

Amazing bakery! Just home from my first visit to Brighton &, having discovered Sugardough on day 1, we went back every day. Sadly we didn't sample a huge variety from the menu but felt the need for a coffee & pastry stop there each day. The staff, particularly the lovely manager (?), were sooooo sweet & my coffee-snob friend thought the coffee was the best in town. Would (& will to anyone who'll listen) very highly recommend X

Great bakery. Fantastic bread and pastries. There are lot of new bakeries opened recently in the area which is a shame for business. But this is one of the best!!!

Bought an 8 inch quiche at the weekend and it was the star of the bbq. So many delicious sounding choices but went for the butternut squash and feta that was just incredible!

I have no hesitation to recommend Sugardough, I have only visited the one in 8 Market street which is lovely and bright because of the big glass front windows. We went there for breakfast and we were so impressed we went back after a few days to try some more food. The heritage tomato soup was excellent and it was great to see usage of seasonal ingredients

Best baked goods in B&H! I used to live opposite the Victoria Terrace Sugardough and leaving those delicious sausage rolls, cakes and quiches was heartbreak! Now living in France (supposed land of baked goods!) and still missing the Sugardough goodies!! I'll be back for a session in the new location and to discuss a Marseille branch please ;)

From the mismatched plates and the ancient sugar tongs, to the formation of flying ducks on a free scrap of wall the Sugardough bread and cake shop is a working bakery. An assembly of charity shop chairs and tables are shoe horned into a tiny shop front along with counter, displays, cooling trays preparation area and the ovens which provide a comforting warmth and the source of the aroma which led us here. The friendly banter of staff mixing with the early morning radio creating a hive of purposeful activity. The serendipitous encounter of human spirit that has built communities for centurie.  Movement of people, sounds, aromas, in a complex dance of commerce all of which is eviserated by the reckless imposition of a digital economy. I think I'm a 21st century luddite.

The best cake I've had this year! small cafe and on the pricy side for a tea and cake, but it was truly delicious. Beautiful tea blend with lots of choices. Quiche looks and smells incredible.

I love this place. The pastry’s are delicious and I’ll be making sure I visit every weekend before I relocate. I wish I had found this gem 5 years ago, when I moved to Brighton. Sad to see other people have experienced rude staff, they have always been pleasant when I have visited!

Came across by accident as we walked into Brighton from Hove and were enticed by the trolleys full of pastries in the window. Popped in for a coffee and spotted all the lovely cakes. Great range pastries, cakes and bread. Would definitely recommend. My only regret is that I had to choose!

Sausage rolls and the mini quiche things are great. Almond croissants are probably the only sweet thing that are decent and the hot cross buns are pretty bangin. Coffee is not worth drinking and the bread is a bit dense for our liking. Overall bit expensive for what you get as there are better coffee places and bakery's near by. For coffee I would recommend Maka (which just opened about a minute walk away.. they also do really good gelato) or Fika (near Hove town hall.. they do the best fried egg sandwich you'll ever eat). You can get good bread at flour pot on 1st ave or Gail's on the corner of George st if you don't want to walk that far.

I'll echo the positive carrot cake related reviews! Best I've had in a while, and well presented. I won't lie, paying just shy of £4 unfortunately puts me off thinking of this as anymore than a 'very occasional' treat. It is a shame, but the cost seems in line with the current bakery trend. Cake needn't cost this much when all made on site, in my honest opinion 🙂📷
