The staff were excellent, we had the Sunday roast,which was very nice and a good price. The pub is dog 🐕 friendly. It would be very nice if you could do a doggy dinner, we did have a sausage for the dogs.
Good and affordable food, quick service and great drinks. The place could do with a bit of renovating but otherwise very good. Food stops being served at 21:45 and this includes desserts which was a bit disappointing but we will know next time. Will be visiting again!
First visit here and was pleasantly surprised! Service was good with friendly staff, tasty food and a very relaxed atmosphere. Definitely will be returning 🙌
Come in with my fiance for lunch quite a bit. Place seemed cleaner and more well run this time. Clearly a change in management because it was much better! Onwards and upwards. Empty plates happy belly's.
Great lunch at the Chequers for a leaver's send-off. Service was fast - and excellent. Food was decent and the restaurant felt quite lively in some areas. Staff couldn't do enough to help and were attentive and engaging. Couldn't fault the experience and would go again.
Fantastic Large Breakfast at at a really good price. £5.49 + £1.20 for hot drink is really good value for money. The most important thing is that it's freshly made. 10/10
Gentleman is very welcoming and while I was eating came to check if I was happy with my Breakfast. Shall definitely return.

My wife & I along with family and friends celebrated our golden wedding at the Chequers on Friday night 17/02/23. We all had a brilliant night. Adam behind bar was extremely helpful, and management ran the place well. Came in for a few quiet pints as it's my local and I always get greeted and I feel welcome in the pub
Had such a lovely time with great food and service. We were made to feel so welcome that we stayed a lot longer than intended. Will be back soon.
We frequent the pub at least once a month for a meal, staff are always helpful and friendly and happily travel from hitchin to visit as its the nicest one about for us.
