This pub will not disappoint on any level! We have just enjoyed Sunday lunch, it was amazing! Beef that melted in the mouth, lovely crispy potatoes, great gravy, nice choice of veg and the crumble was gorgeous! The service was polite, efficient and friendly. Obviously a great team as so nice to hear the banter between them at the end of service. Lovely pub, great history and fab location! Well worth a visit! We will definitely be back for another Sunday lunch but also to try the other menus! Thank you! PS the custard was yummy 😋

A gem of a restaurant hidden in plain sight. Excellent friendly service, good selection of interesting ales in addition to standard casks. An interesting menu, excellent quality ingredients that speak for themselves and generous portions. The place has a lovely ambience and is well worth a detour. I’ll definitely be visiting again. Second Visit: 18/3/23 Service was just as friendly and food excellent quality. Highly recommended

My wife and I, and dog ! received a warm welcome from manager Jack, who turned out to be a great feature in his own right ! The pub is very cosy with a coal fire and comfortable atmosphere and the beer garden has stunning views over the Tyne Valley. It provides a good selection of beers, wines and cider aswell as an extensive menu. Most tastes are catered for. We had a fantastic beef blade with braised carrots and chips. Whether you are just popping in for a drink or having a meal, I would strongly recommend a visit to the Lion and Lamb. Thanks to all concerned.

😋😋😋😋 We went for my birthday Sunday lunch and weren't disappointed. Staff were very friendly, we were shown to our table and drinks orders were taken, after 5 or 10 mins the waiter returned to see if we were ready to order, yes please. I went for a monkfish stater, having never had monkfish I was thoroughly impressed, decent chunks cooked in bread crumbs and served with tartar sauce and samphire, delicious. I opted for beef (pink) for my main which was beautiful, served with roasties, greens (leek, cabbage, green beans) and the biggest Yorkshire pudding I've ever seen. I'd thoroughly recommend giving this place a try if you like good food. There's a few negative reviews on hear relating to the management, many are written years ago and I know the place has recently been taken over so I'd ignore these comments and give it a go, we had a great time and will definitely be back. Oh there's a decent sized garden with a small play park for the kids too.

A fantastic country pub great food good beer and very friendly staff. The porsions are of good size and good quality, If you were going for Sunday lunch it would be advisable to book as they get very busy and have to turn people away. The views from the garden across the Tyne valley are spectacular they have a good size beer garden with play area for the children. It's that nice we have booked for a family meal in the run up to Christmas

The food was absolutely fantastic, it was enormous too! I would go on a Tuesday for the burgers (2 for £25). The service was fantastic and the atmosphere/ locals were friendly and welcoming, especially Benson the dog!!!!!!

I'm basing my 5* rating on visits made to this pub before lockdown. What I loved about it was the amazing menu which was head and shoulders above regular pub offerings in its interesting additions and flavours. Everything I'd tried was delicious and even their club sandwich - my favourite lunchtime choice, and excellent value - was not something you'd find at most pubs. When we went for Monday lunch at the beginning of August, we took advantage of the Eat Out scheme to almost halve our bill. The menu that day was very prosaic pub food which I found forgivable under the circumstances, but disappointing because it's not what I choose Lion & Lamb for. Having said that, the food we were served was tasty and beautifully presented. Just not my first choice. We were able to eat outside as there's a large number of tables outdoors, complete with umbrellas for when it's too sunny. Without my previous experiences, I'd probably have rated it 5* anyway, because I'd not have known what I was missing. But I sincerely hope that they'll be able to go back to their regular menu before too long.

Great to to see one of my favourite places for Sunday Lunch still serving top notch food. It’s famous for the roast leg of lamb and it did not disappoint 10/10! Great service from the waitresses. Can’t wait to go back soon!

We have been going here for Sunday lunch for years and have always enjoyed. Went recently, first time since pandemic, and a lot has changed. A big price increase, £26 for 2 courses and they are now more dog friendly. That's fine if dogs are quiet and unobtrusive but when staff are openly petting dogs between serving food and drink it is very off putting. 2 members of staff petted dogs in the restaurant and continued to serve food and drinks. I pray they washed their hands however not confident!
