Called here after a visit to see the seals, on a hot sunny afternoon Sampled a couple of the draft ciders to quench our thirst, the girl behind the bar was great with her recommendations We tried the cockeyed cock bird & the Apple red, which was our favourite, but we only had a half as it’s 8.4% but was really easy drinking so we bought a 5 pint carry out, for our BBQ when we got back home to Manchester just a shame we forgot to ask who brewed it While sat outside watching various meals being served, we decided to have lunch and we weren’t disappointed. My other half chose a pulled pork sandwich & I had the 5 bean chilli , and hearty flavourful portions were served. This is a great little pub with friendly knowledgeable staff, good food & even better drinks

This has been a favourite place to eat and drink for years - from when Ernst and his pies and wienerschnitzel were famous all around to now. It's still great, good choice of well kept beer and very good food. The tartare sauce that came with our scampi was the best ever, lots of finely chopped greenery to bring out the flavour against the mayo. Any chance of the recipe?!

Beautiful old world charm pub, menu is awesome, so much I could have chosen. The place was packed on bank holiday Sunday, the beer garden is huge but not many empty spaces, we ordered food but was told it would take hour and half, it actually took no more than 45minutes. When it arrived it was superb. A special mention must go to the young man with ginger hair, his customer service was exemplary and if I had the chance to poach him for my own company I would. Also a young girl who like the lad ran around satisfying all customers, except order number 19 which was a a major issue created by customers not listening to the order call, their problem but the pub took it on he chin. Would recommend this place to everyone.

We had lunch here yesterday... All seven meals were excellent. Four of us had fish finger sandwiches, one steak and Stilton ciabatta, one Hawaiian burger and a fish and chips. All freshly cooked, good sized portions, the fish and fish fingers with crispy non-greasy batter, lovely chips and fresh salad etc etc. We've been before and will be back when in the area again. Great choice of beers too. Highly recommended

Love the Nelson Head. I run some holiday cottages locally (all very dog friendly) and I always direct our guests here for the warm and friendly welcome to hooomans and to dogs. The food is lovely and staff are very welcoming. Good mixture of snack and main food and vegetarian options too. (Would love some vegan options too guys ;) ) Really really enjoy coming here.

What a gem of a place, couldn't fault it at all. We had starters of whitebait and the mushrooms, mains we had the steak burger and fish and chips. Oh boy I didn't have to eat for the rest of the day. Service was great and we will return next year.

We stayed at the nearby Crincle Cottage for the weekend so it was lovely being able to stroll down the road to this lovely village pub. Very warm welcome and lovely food plus it's dog friendly so even our furry friends could enjoy themselves! Definitely worth a visit.

Lovely food. I had fish and chips and it was a very good portion and served hot. From here we walked towards Horsey Gap about 20min including dog stops and sniffs along the way and then used same route back. They allow people to leave cars there to go and see the seals but ask to also use the pub for food or drinks. Great pub!

Called in for lunch with our two doggies before walking down to Horsey Gap to see the grey seals. Lovely meal served by very friendly staff, lovely homely traditional English pub decor. Was great to know we could leave our camper van in their carpark whilst going to see the seals as the main carpark for Horsey Gap doesn't allow camper vans.

I visited Nelson Head, conveniently close to Horsey Gap for those Horsey Grey Seals. The staff here is super fast and friendly. If you plan an evening visit, booking a table is a must; this place gets packed. Note that there are certain hours when the kitchen closes, likely before 4 pm. I opted for the berry cider, and it's hands down the best I've tried in pubs. The atmosphere was buzzing, and I ordered fish and chips for £17.25. The portion was massive; I couldn't finish it all. The home-cooked fries were fantastic, but the fish was a bit oily and lacked flavor, even with added lemon and spices. Despite that, the overall experience was enjoyable. But unfortunately 4 stars as I was waiting for “the best fish n chips in my life” as reviews were saying. A highlight was the nachos – seriously delicious. So, if you're in the area, I definitely recommend checking out Nelson Head for a pleasant pub experience 🍻

We stopped here after a 2 hour walk from Winterton-on-sea to recharge our batteries and we were greeted with such friendly staff and a wonderful quaint setting. Me and my boyfriend had fish and chips for lunch and WOW, some of the best I’ve ever had. The sticky toffee pudding was also heavenly. It’s also dog friendly and they didn’t make a fuss when our GSD barked ever now and then. I will definitely be coming back!!

We stumbled across this place on a campervan tour of Norfolk (new years eve) What a fantastic bunch of locals, very friendly, fun and welcoming. We ended up playing darts with them all evening and enjoying the great selection of ales and ciders, open fire and the traditional feel. Gemma behind the bar was super too and made some tasty food with a buffet too. Thankyou all for your warmth and hospitality, it was one of the best pub experiences we have ever had..... Look forward to returning one day!

We ate here and stayed overnight on our campervan. Staff were lovely and helpful. The pub itself is small but with a great rural atmosphere and a dining room and loads of outdoor seating. They have a good selection of real ales. The food was good pub grub. The fish and chips were massive! I didn't manage to finish mine but people with larger appetites did. This is a great pub for a meal or a pint. If you're in the area check it out.

What a gem of a place. The Pub can get busy so be ready to get there early or wait. But it’s worth the wait, we had a selection of starters and mains including kids dinners. The Fish & chips are ‘a catch’ really well cooked with melt in the mouth batter. There is an eclectic mix of memorabilia on the walls all with a story to tell. It’s worth a visit to grab a pint and look at those items alone. You can park here and then walk down to the beach, just make sure you support the business along the way.
