Fantastic food, excellent staff and a lovely ambiance. All around a great visit and we will definitely be back.
We were seated promptly and provided with chilled water and some fresh popcorn to enjoy whilst we decided what to order.
Beef brisket was incredibly tender and flavoursome and the rich, unctuous meat was contrasted well by the spicy, crunchy, pickles, the cool, creamy, coleslaw and the crispy, spicy French fries.
Everyone in our party thoroughly enjoyed their meal and agreed that we would be happy to visit again.
All the staff were incredibly friendly and attentive without being too disruptive.
Overall was very impressed and wouldn't hesitate to recommend Hickory's to family and friends.
If I had to pick a minor gripe, it would be the lighting. We all thought the dimly lit style was inkeeping with the theme of the restaurant and overall laid back ambiance but my 70 year old father struggled to read the menu easily without using the torch on his phone.
Been several times now. The food is excellent every time. Not had a bad experience yet. On our last visit, it was our anniversary and we arrived to a novel message on the table and after we had our meal our server (Ellis) came over to say they are preparing us some cocktails to reflect our years of anniversary on the house. This was a lovely gesture and very kind of them. They Didn’t have to do this but it put the icing on cake of a lovely meal and evening out. Definitely recommend going. Well worth it!
If you like American style BBQ then you will love it here! We got starters and the sharing platter for two, it was all amazing, meat was flavourful and soft, good mix of things on the sharing platter. Favourites were the short rib, brisket and the bacon bites. The portions were pretty big and we took plenty home with us, next time I would order the sharing platter for one for the two of us. The grape soda was lovely too!
Good food, not very big portions for the price, service was very good young man who served us very friendly and informative. The pecan pie I had for dessert was delicious. Only one downside the music is TOO LOUD we couldn't have a conversation unless we shouted, did ask for it to be turned down, which it was for a little while then it went back up. Would go again because food was good but will ask for a table away from speakers.
My first ever time been here after passing it & thought would give it a go. Came with the missus & was looked after by Dylan who I have to say proper nice genuine lad. We was unsure what to get as everything looked good & Dylan recommended the Smokehouse platter for two which was absolutely beautiful! We couldn't finish it they was that much. Overall 5/5 & Dylan deserved all the tip but sadly its all shared but will be coming back again 100%
Interesting that the menu is provided like a newspaper piece! There’s a lot of choices to choose from if you’re a lover of meat!
We were a large group and sat outside in one of the outdoor huts. They were efficient in taking our orders and before long, all the dishes arrived pretty fast and accurately!
I got the brisket as a main; which I think they forgot to provide the sauce for! It wasn’t as freshly carved as I had hoped - it was more the ‘day’s brisket’ and the brisket had been a few hours before it reached my ‘plate’.
The max and cheese side was good; but also had a heavy smoked paprika aftertaste.
I would highly recommend getting their cloudy lemonade - unfortunately it was a pretty cold English evening but if it was a proper summer; the lemonade would be perfect.
Overall a good experience. Wait times reasonable, friendly & polite hospitality. Great quality food (although not quite as good as Red's True Barbecue in Leeds) Ever so slightly overpriced, however would likely visit again.
Fabulous food and fantastic serving staff... fast and efficient don't know how they manage to keep up.
We went on a Saturday evening and it was rammed. Would recommend booking first. Seems really popular the food really is Fabulous
16 of us ate here for a bday and personally I enjoyed what I ate, just a little pricy, some of the group wasn't fans of the sausages, sauces, and wings were a little dry.
Would go again for a special treat
Overall it was very good but there were some areas that needed some attention (in my opinion)
This review is based on 2 visits and an average as i felt it harsh to score a low score for service after the first visit.
The first rating for service would have been 1 star, table of 5, it was 20 minutes to have our food order taken, 40 minutes for the food to arrive, another 15 minutes after table was cleared to have desert order taken, the bill arrived promptly but another 15 minutes and no one returned to the table. Our waiting around time exceed the time they usually hold the table for. We generally saw the same few staff, so i guessed they were busy and short staffed.
The picture is the go big or go hoem burger, overall was ok, although the burger meat was dry and tough.
Second visit was much better and was a birthday with a table of 9. Service was quick, and food was better this time ( i had different) wife had the same as before and loved them both.
The staff and atmosphere were excellent each time, friendly , chatty and very funny so that was a nice uplift from the waiting around the first time.
Overall I would go back, but be very apprehensive about possible delays like the first visit
