Went last night for evening out with my wife. Didn't read reviews...just a random choice. So glad we did...Nice feeling about the place and the food was amazing. Crab salad and corned beef starters full of flavour...probably the best steak ever had and duck breast pink with crispy skin. Puddings were lovely and light...we then had the cheese board with port and coffee. The holt is not cheap (if you want cheap go to Nandos) but you get your money's worth. Waiting staff attentive but not fussing over you. It has no car park so you'll be lucky to park outside but just up the road is a large public carpark that's free in evenings and only couple of minutes walk. A place we will definitely be back to.

Absolutely amazing food! My husband wasn't overly keen on going to holt for a meal cause he thought the menu looked "too posh" but you even managed to please him! Fantastic flavours, good portion sizes and fantastic service! Would definitely eat here again if I visit the area again

Very warm welcome from all the staff. Hadn't booked as we were just passing on A30 but food was lovely. Relaxed atmosphere. Looks small from the outside but they have a dining room upstairs.

Relaxed atmosphere, any but casual food! Friendly staff, really interesting menu. Immediately reduced the bill when my husband commented that something wasn't quite right (even though he ate it). Good prices. Highly recommended

As we walked in we were greeted by a very friendly lady at the bar who got us drinks as we were escorted to our table. The food, service and atmosphere were all excellent and it was a very enjoyable evening. All members of staff were friendly and helpful and ensured we had the best experience possible. Definitely worth a visit.

The Holt is my favourite local restaurant. I feel very lucky to live so close, and be able to dine here often, as it's something quite special. The food, staff attentiveness and ambience are all 10/10. I would highly recommend visiting if you like good food

An unexpected, lovely discovery in Honiton. Plenty of positives: friendly, attentive staff, cosy environment, tasty, well-presented food, good selection of drinks. Although it has to be said that the selection of mains and desserts on the menu was quite restricted and the prices high for this area, these are difficult times. The staff of The Holt deserve high praise and five stars!

Impromptu meeting with son as Honiton roughly halfway between us. Really pleased with the choice. Open plan kitchen gives confidence, very friendly staff and lovely food too. We hadn't booked but they were very accommodating and kind. We both shared a starter and delicious main course each plus drinks £40 each. Didn't visit the upstairs restaurant as it was Saturday and we hadn't booked but, judging by the downstairs, I'm sure very nice.

Highlight of the area. Who would have known such a discrete wee building could house such ambiance and delicious food. The "Pint of Prawns" was a pleasure. Smoked prawns with amazing bread and an edge of punchy aioli. Fish and chips crisp and meaty, exactly as it should be and balanced nicely with a touch of herb mayo. Staff are a pleasure to deal with. Attentive, knowledgeable and articulate yet swift and efficient.
