We've been coming here for years! We have been members for over 15 years and regularly visit as a family, it has become one of our favourite places to go, especially on special days during holidays like Christmas and Halloween!
We have no intentions of ever stopping our family membership and will continue our regular jaunts around the beautiful country side and town centre of the Ulster Folk Park 🥰
Absolutely awesome place. Few replicas and many original houses to walk through and get a real feel for how life used to be for different people at different times. Great for smaller kids, no reading needed to fully understand. Absolutely stunning landscape as well, so beautiful and made the walk so enjoyable. We were so impressed.
Info: Quite a bit of walking needed, to see it all.
Loved this place from
I was a child never get bored of it the smell of the turf burning it takes you right back as to how it was many years ago the way it’s laid out just as it was! That much you imagine how life was and how different life was before technology and Social media has ruined the world!
We really enjoyed our time at the museum today. It was made really interesting not only with the antiques, houses, shops, and landscape but with the friendly, informative people who worked and lived there! The place is so well kept. The facilities are spotless. The cafe served delicious food at a reasonable price by very friendly staff. We're from Belfast but now live in Sydney. It was years since we visited the museum, and we highly recommend it to anyone.
I thoroughly enjoyed myself with a group of deaf friends and 2 BSL interpreters. The highlights of the day were willow making, harvest knot and potato picking. The staff and volunteers were very friendly. I would love to see willow craft day at your place so I can join a workshop. Thank you very much for a wonderful day outing.
If the weather is fine then it would be hard to find a better day out than the Folk Museum. Buildings from all over Ireland are available to view and explore as well as a fully self-contained small village. Farm animals roam the fields and there are plenty of staff - some in character - to explain the exhibits and answer questions. A large tea room with a wide variety of snacks and food is also available. Allow 3hrs minimum to explore this amazing attraction
Absolutely loved this museum. The staff are actors, in character, happy to answer all your questions about how life worked in Ireland in 1910, with original and replica pieces like an 1840 printing press for illustration
A local shared about this museum with us and we weren't disappointed. It was amazing, so much Irish history and culture to explore. The staff were all amazing and friendly and knowledgeable too. Got free disabled entry and carer ticket. The cafe served delicious food, a lovely shop and sweet shop too. Could have spent longer than we had there easily. Would definitely return given the opportunity.
Great place for a visit, can be done in 2 hrs, took us 3 and a half and could've spent another hour all depends how much you want to read and talk with the staff.
Wedding was on so church and pub closed which was disappointing.
Most houses had peat fire lit and very knowledgeable staff who are willing to talk away and give a better picture of how things were back then.
Blacksmith was working, sodas were being cooked over open fire and a loom worker making a blanket.
Highly recommend for all ages.
Great day out with a bunch of kids on summer scheme the children were kept entertained , and really enjoyed it. I have to say the Doctor , wickerman, and the lady in the rectory were very informative and good fun , made a raining day shine
